"Sidewalks of New York" (Buster Keaton M-G-M talkie feature); the fourth season of "Night Court"; from a friend of ours who doesn't have a firm grasp of my movie tastes, "People on Sunday" (a German late silent film) and two others (I forget the titles *blush*---but in my defense, I've been paying more attention to Mr.'s recovery than my birthday loot---I must take a closer look at 'em). The best DVD was from Mr., a 1992 PBS documentary we've both been looking for for years: "If You Knew Sousa," about (who else) John Philip Sousa.

Have a great day at work!

Kudos to you for figuring all this out ... when the IT guys couldn't. But IT guys probably think like Microsoft, so they couldn't find the problem.

Ah, the digital age---we can't live with our devices, and we can't live without 'em. But the digital age brought us together here, so I can't kick.

Ha-ha Merry, you are sooooo right! One of my favorite things that I say to people when there's a problem with anything electronic/ digitial, especially when they (a manufacturer or developer) upgrades/ re-invents the wheel (especially when there was nothing wrong with it) is; the "Geeks have Gone Wild again". My thoughts are, if it isn't broke, don't touch it... They're like little kids, can't keep their hands off it/ anything.....I like to slap their hands and say "no-no-no, don't touch"....LOL

Sounds like a pretty good haul!

Speaking of documentaries...I recently got the Criterion release of Harold Lloyd's Safety Last, and included is the documentary of Harold Lloyd: The Third Genius! I remember you telling me about that one. I've seen parts on YouTube, but having the whole thing on Blu-ray is worth the price for the disc, in my opinion!

Look what I found at the thrift store today!

Got it for only $3, this is a $40 cake pan.

Looks beautiful! Can't wait to see the cakes you make/decorate with that! Great find!

We were gone most of the day to Chico for appointments. For some reason, I was really tired all day.

Does anyone else have Yahoo email and were MADE to change to their "new and improved" service? It is crap--I cannot think of a nicer way to say it! I would be absolutely embarrassed to say that I had a hand in its development. What garbage! Does anyone have a suggestion of what we could switch to without a lot of trouble? I am desperate!

I have a dental appointment tomorrow morning. I will be starting on a treatment for bone health because of the chemo and radiation and I have to have a clearance from my dentist that I have no infections related to my teeth or gums. I start Zometa in October. The side effects sound like what I went through when I had to take Neulasta after each chemo treatment. I don't think it is going to be fun at all.

Here is what info I have:

I'll be hoping & praying you experiene NONE of those side effects! Makes ya wonder, doesn't it??? Geesh!

Good evening,

It was a long fun day at Six Flags, spent half the day in the water park, and the other half in the regular park. I went on the new Bonzai Pipelines in the water park, all I can say is AWESOME! Here is a description of them:

I was swearing through the ride but wow it was amazing, I can't wait to do it again.

Needless to say I am tired today after being in the sun, and humidity all day. Late shift tomorrow, so I will be able to sleep in a little.

Have a good night all.

Sounds like a FUN & exhausting day!! Hope you slept well last night!!!

Good night, all. We had a great dinner and only paid $3.39 for a meal that was $33.39. I had won two $30.00 gift certificates to a local restaurant. Hubby had rib eye and shrimp and I had BBQ chicken and ribs. We brought home LOTS of leftovers. I had homemade cream of mushroom soup with my meal and Hubby had bean and ham soup. So, so good. We went to Wal-Mart to "walk it off" and bought some rocky road ice cream for dessert--like we needed it, LOL! Time for jammies and TV and ice cream. TTYT

Sounds like a delicious meal & a great night!! I made a pork loin in the crock pot last night that was really good. New recipe. I'll have to post later!

My birthday was two days ago.
I had a wonderful birthday...I got a diary, a green shirt, a book about Mao, a book about the Roman army, a towel, a lucky charm, 2 pairs of pjamas, a lined paper book to write in, £30, £40 in I-tunes vouchers, and a new computer keyboard.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Good morning! I jogged around the neighborhood this morning, and my goodness it is already hot!!! Funny, I can go a lot further in the air conditioned gym. :)
Hope y'all have a great day!

We walked at 5:30 this morning & I was soaked when I got home. WEW!!! And I don't normally sweat when I walk!!! What a hot morning!!! That is too early in the day to be THAT hot!!!

Good Morning, Good Morning, Good Morning!!!

I have been so busy and have had a cold on top of all of that. I am trying to get my energy back.

Are we ready for Christmas in July? I have been surrounded by Christmas around here watching the grandkids. They always talk about Santa and Christmas. The other day my grandson was pretending to be Santa Claus passing out gifts. So funny to see kids playing that in July. Then my daughter gave me their Christmas fireplace screen because they moved to a new house that does not have a fireplace. I have been wanting one for ours and happy I got one now!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Love it all except the part of you having a cold! Hope you are feeling better soon!!!

Happy hump day everyone. It's 88℉ in work and my shirt is now stuck to me like food wrap. Looking forward to getting home and getting the shorts on.

Try to stay cool! Sounds miserable...

Good morning!
Today is my daughters 18th birthday! I'm so happy that all my girls have off from work. My youngest has drivers ed this morning but we all plan on going out to lunch later after she gets home. For dinner I will be making Spaghetti Bolognese. And for dessert I will be making brownies. Its kind of strange that the birthday girl doesn't like cake but she loves brownies. So I guess I could stick a candle in a brownie, right? And later this evening she will be having friends over to hang out around the pool in the back yard.
I hope everyone has a great day!!!

Happy birthday to your daughter!! ENJOY the day!!!!

Today is my second day without a Coke Zero (that's my drink!) as I'm trying to go all water. I had stopped drinking sodas and did good for a few weeks, then I fell off the wagon! I can drink Coke Zero like some of y'all, not to name names, can drink coffee (rhymes with "Binger" :-P). But I'm having withdrawals! Got...to...stay...strong...

Good luck!! You can do this!! :)

GOOD MORNING!!! :hi: It has been too long & I have missed all you Christmas crazies!!!! I will never be able to catch up on all I have missed since 6/28 but I will go back to read the more recent posts!

We had a fun filled week off work last week! We got in a lot of bicycle riding. Breakfasts with neighbors & friends. A couple pontoon rides. An awesome 4th of July party at our friends house/pond. We listened to an awesome local band at the lake one night (went by pontoon) We looked at the plans our contractor came up with for our kitchen. AND of course we had to watch it rain many times over the week. But it was all awesome! I didn't have to be at work! And now it's back to the grind! Which really stinks, but I'm thankful to have had the week off!!!

I am loving the Christmas movies on Hallmark this week! Last night I fell asleep with about 10 minutes left in the movie & I woke up to see the credits. Grrrrr!! Looking fwd to watching again tonight! I'm sure there's talk of this already on here, but hopefully I'm not watching all alone! Ha ha ha ha....

I hope you are all doing fantastic!! Make it a great day!!

What a blast!! Glad you guys had such a great time!!

If you enjoy that one, try to find the Brownlow-Gill documentaries about Chaplin ("Unknown Chaplin") and Keaton ("Buster Keaton: A Hard Act to Follow"). They're both awesome---and I seldom use that word.

In "The Third Genius," they talk to "Sunshine Sammy" Morrison. Mr. and I both met him briefly at a film convention. He had passed away not long before the show first aired on PBS in the U.S. It was poignant to see him smiling and telling about working with Lloyd at the Hal Roach Studios when he (Sammy) was a little boy. (He was also the nucleus of Our Gang in the early 1920s.)

We still need 8 more peole to join the fantasy football league. If your considering it then by all means jump in, it will be lots of fun!!!!

Still thinking about it, but really not a huge football fan. Watch it from time to time so not sure how good i will be.

:hi:

I just listened to the Glee casts' version of "We Need a Little Christmas" and it was really good! I've never seen the show or heard their music, but I will be downloading that song.

I needed a little Christmas today, myself, and have had that song stuck in my head!
