Sorry to all those suffering from this heat. We are having very unusual weather here. It is so nice out that I have the whole house opened up and fans running. We have never been able to do that in July, this is a first! Usually the air conditioner is going 24/7. I am LOVING this weather!!! I want to bottle it up and keep it all summer long!!! I am sure the triple digits will be back to visit soon so enjoying this while I can!

Me, I think it's pretentious, and it makes me a bit uncomfortable, because I'm sure none of the servers would say that unless they were instructed to. But that's just one opinion.

Really?????? That is never heard of here in Texas. We NEVER close anything due to heat, even construction workers are out in it. I wish places would close! We get over the triple digits and life goes on as usual.

I guess it's like you all up north laugh when a few snowflakes headlines our news here. They will do all day coverage with "Breaking News" because an inch of snow is on the ground!!! Ha ha! Well, it is breaking news to me.

I do hate the heat and glad people take it serious enough there to close places down. I have known too many people here dropping over from heat exhaustion and strokes because they HAVE to work in it. Not good!

Hope Shaggy will be okay!

Same here, about the snow. In Oklahoma, we'll shut schools down if we have too much snow (i.e., an inch or so), and a lot of businesses shut down. Nothing closes down for the heat, though!

The head of the New England power grid has asked us all to conserve energy during the heat wave here (which isn't supposed to break until this weekend), but no talk of closing businesses. Occasionally, if the power draw is extreme, they'll ask businesses to close early or close for a day. But not many do. I think my office may have closed a little early once during a heat wave when there was a similar conservation request.

Occasionally, if the power draw is extreme, they'll ask businesses to close early or close for a day. But not many do. I think my office may have closed a little early once during a heat wave when there was a similar conservation request.

That makes sense! I know the area up there is so much more populated than down here...I can imagine load demand gets very high!

That sounds nice right about now! This is the next 7-Day forecast for Baltimore, Maryland....Now, add in the humidity, the heat index is up around 103- 105 degrees F! ~:-(

Good afternoon, MMC!

Boy, it is a warm one! I did my errands early this morning. A lot of the places I went to were talking about closing at noon due to the heat as the employees/volunteers were miserable and not much foot traffic. I think it is a good idea! Better safe than sorry when people's health is concerned. I am really worried about Shaggy - he is a long-haired, black and brown dog so he must be very miserable. He is up there in age, too, so it is not a good situation for him. I'm staying home for the next few days to keep tabs on him.

Here's hoping & praying Shaggy stays cool enough!! Ol Buster wanted to hang out outside when I was home for lunch. I had to explain to him that he is too old. :lol: He disagrees!

Here at work we are part of an electric co-op & they are emailing every day asking everyone to turn up the air by 1 degree, don't run the stove or dryer, turn off any tv's not being used, etc between 2 & 6 pm this week.

Good morning gang!! (almost afternoon) It's another HOT one in Ohio! I am not complaining b/c I have my sweatshirt on & I am fine...but it is FREEZING in my office! :cold: I walk outside every once in awhile...for 30 seconds...and I'm all warmed up! Lol!

Nothing exciting going on around here. Typical Tuesday! I went to the grocery last night & bought cold meat & buffalo chicken salad for sandwiches, so I probably won't be doing any cooking this week! Hubby never wants anything hot to eat after delivering UPS all day in this heat! Sooo...I get off easy this week! Hope everyone is having a great day!!

I don't do much cooking in the summer either and Wayne is just fine with that. Way too hot!

My brother has been running around in this Texas heat as a UPS driver. He will be taking a 3 week vacation to Alaska in the next couple of weeks. I know that will be a nice change for him. I would love to go there myself!!! Last time he was in Alaska he ran a 5k. I am not sure if he is doing that again this time or not.

Congrats on the worst milestone. So yea im with you on the lower temps idea. The world should always go from fall, winter, spring and back around.
