my SIL says I should start by learning to do granny squares...need to find some yarn first. I found at 4.0 crochet hook, is that the right size or should I go and buy something else?

My mom gave me my first crochet hook and she said that it didn't matter what size I used as long as it felt comfortable to hold. The right size yarn could be bought to suit. I started out with a J and used regular worsted weight 4-ply, Red Heart, probably.

Good Morning MMC!!!!!! It's going to be the hottest day of the week here with a high of 98 degree's. Another boring day here. I don't really have anything to do. So I'll probably head to the pines early and see if Carl needs some with this transformation theme. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!
going to the pines early sounds like a great idea!
It is still hot here too, but not as hot as where you are
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Penny was on my shoulder and then started to slip off and we all know what they use to hang on with! I seriously think I may have to ban her from that perch!
anyway, see you at the pines!

I found a couple of photos (postcards) online:

Thank you for posting these pictures, Merry! I love the front - such a shame it burned down. :(

Good morning,

Just sitting and relaxing before work, LC is with me until I drop him off with the person who will be watching him. He really wanted to go to school with JP today, but kindergarten starts a week later than the rest of the grades. I am sure next week when it is his turn, he won't want to go. He is just like me with being shy at new things, I guess that is one reason everyone calls him my clone. cheesy

I am, of course, getting excited about all things Christmas being everywhere. But reading the article about the Christmas music mistake really makes me think how much I dislike how people complain and almost villainize Christmas. I know not everyone is like us with the love of Christmas, but to always complain at the first sight of something green & red as some people do just....AAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!

Sorry, I'm done cheesy

I hope to have an easy night, I have some projects lined up, but my usual Wednesday nights never allow me to get everything done. With school back in session I am hoping it is slower to get them done.

I hope you all have a great Pines Day!!!
love your rant and so agree with you!

I hope LC does enjoy school next week.

Hi everyone! How is everything? My notebook broke down....and I hate typing long messages on the smartphone.
Lots of typos and and and.....that s why I did not post the last few days.
I gotta find somebody to look at it....and if it cannot be fixed....need to get a new one.

Hey, track - good to see you! I'm sorry you need to fix/replace your computer. How are Kandice and Stripey?

I agree you might want to try a 5.0mm (H) hook to start. I like crocheting with a G - 4.0mm but when I 1st started, I was using a bigger hook - possibly an I or a J. But give it a try & you will figure out which one you like! Good Luck! FUN!!

thanks to all of you for the crochet advice, going to store later today and picking up some supplies.

we had rain and storming last night too, no power out though. Hopeyou get that sauce done today.

We ended up with a lot of rain with lightning and thunder off in the distance. The real bad stuff wasn't nearby. Usually we lose power with those kinds of storms and yesterday we didn't. Yay!

It's rough to have to dwell on the details of a massive wrong that was done to my family, but I'm trying to focus on the goal to stay positive.

Excellent point of view. {{{HUGS}}}

We've accumulated a few versions, too, as gifts and as bargains. Including two Red Sox versions and (I think) a dot-com version from quite a few years ago. Must go back and see which "properties" are still in existence, and what was Boardwalk in those days! I think we have a "deluxe" version, but not like the Franklin Mint set you have. But we've only actually played on the standard set. We don't get much of a chance to play board games. If we have a spare hour or two we tend to reach for the DVDs.
all this talk about monopoly, we love the game here. I know we have the reg version and the Disney one. We also have monopoly deal which is the card game version of it. I showed my son the Franklin mint one and he would really like that one!

Sweet that you remembered your childhood. The same thing happens to me a lot when I hear a certain song or when I smell my mom's favorite cologne. Sweet memories.

I bought a new top a couple of weeks ago and the scent of the material brought back memories of starting 5th grade: new classroom, new clothes, new folders and pencils, new beginnings I thought of all in a span of a few seconds. It was kind of cool!

I've seen a few nice ones (small though) on ebay between GB£9-£12 each but postage was about US$22.00 ! More than the houses ! I've not seen the ones in your photo though. Anyway not to worry, I'll keep an eye out.
good thing you are not having it shipped form Canada, it would most likely cost you double that for postage. Our high rates are the reason I head over to Port Huron to mail all my Christmas cards.

Good morning MMC! It's another HOT one in Ohio! I just turned QVC on the tv at work. I'll see how long the boys let it on b/f changing channels. Hope you are all having a great day! See you at the Pines! I'll be late getting there - we are having homemade ice cream at my brothers tonight - we are going to visit with my Aunt/Uncle who are in town from NC!!! (all are welcome)
I have not had homemade icecream since we lost our machine when we moved. Enjoy!

Good afternoon, MMC!

I hope this finds everyone well! It is a very humid day out today so of course I have to do a lot of cooking to heat the kitchen up even more. The tomatoes will not wait, though, and I do not have enough room in my refrigerator to put as many as I have, at least I don't think I do. If things get too hot in here I might have to do some rearranging.

Never should have taken that nap yesterday - I did not get to sleep until after 5 this morning. It was so noisy out! The tree frogs were yelling, Shaggy was jumping on and off his doghouse, the cats were yelling, pears were falling, and traffic on the main highway was ridiculous for early morning. To top that off, Palmer was racing around the house, batting her jingle balls, jumping up the wall, and jumping off of the bookcase, which I think she likes to do because it makes a rather loud noise. Of all things, sometime early this morning my neighbor dropped a pie off - when I went out to feed the kittens it was setting on the porch outside. Her knocking is what woke me up, but I didn't know what I was hearing at the time. Good thing she knocked or I would have overslept. Although I do not like pie, it is a nice wake-up call!

Be MERRY!!!

That's what I thought when I read it! Of course there would be have been complainers there to spoil it.
I continue to pray for you that you will soon have the whole thing resolved.

Is anyone watching QVC right now? What do you think of the folding Christmas tree?

They are nice but I'm to cheap to buy one. My spiral tree's from walmart fold down smaller and are 1/3 of the price. They don't have as many lights on them though.
