TGIF everyone. Looking forward to the 3 day weekend. We will be heading to Myrtle Beach this afternoon. It is about a 7 hour drive for us. My brother and his family are taking our parents down. It is only about a 4 hour drive for them. All of us are staying at a house we rented for the holiday weekend. My mother is really looking forward to seeing the ocean probably for her last time. It will be a bitter/sweet stay.

I've killed 2 copperhead snakes the last 2 days. They were the first adult ones I've seen near the house this year. Can't wait until cooler weather with no bugs and/or snakes.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I pray you have the most amazing weekend with your family - sending much love to all of you!!! {{{HUGS}}}

friends, i'm getting sad! The last few minutes on this job are ticking away. My department took me to lunch today and folks are coming by wishing me farewell. I'm going to miss this place.

{{{hugs}}}

That's great! Now I'm really looking forward to it!!

Can you get me the titles of the Christmas anthologies? I would love to find them.

Amazon has been great for me lately, and we also have some used bookstores in town that I've found some out of print, uncommon, or eclectic reads.

Check local thrift stores, too - I find so many interesting books that way. The price is excellent, too!!

Good to hear from you! I hope things settle soon so you can go back home and relax.

We have that anthology! I read it some years ago. I don't remember the details except for one of the stories that had a shocking ending, but I remember that I enjoyed it. I must pull that book off the shelf for the Halloween season! We also have two anthologies of Christmas murder and mystery stories that I love to read in November. One of them only came out in paperback, and the poor book is getting so worn from being read! But there are stories in it that are "can't miss" every year.

I have the Halloween anthology mentioned, too. cheesy

You'd be surprised!! ;)

I've loved the few that I've read!!

And enjoyed Poirot's Christmas =}

Quite different from her other Poirot stories - very good read! I am going to read the Poirot stories in order next year. cheesy

Good afternoon, MMC!

Be safe and MERRY this weekend!!!

Well Christmas friends, I'm about to head home from the office and take the lovely Mrs. on a date tonight, so I won't be around MMC much until later. Hope you all have a great Friday evening!

It was so hot I finally opened the Corona I had in the refrigerator for a few years. I'm not a beer drinker as it tastes too bitter to me, but the first third of the bottle was quite good - cold!!! The rest I poured down the drain. I'm going to have to buy some more as I want to make beer bread and beer cheese soup this fall. cheesy

I'm not a beer drinker either but I could go for one too. Hmm, I wonder when my neighbor is coming home from Michigan. I can usually swap him a rum and coke for one.

Hope you have a great weekend Meceka!!! Just a few more days until the colder air gets here!!!

I know...I like some Christmas books that aren't "warm and fuzzy" holiday reading, too. I read a western that was about a cattle drive that took place at Christmas. There were shoot-outs and all sorts of things going, but it still represented the season well, I thought.

That's cool!! To me, all Christmas is good!! And books are so descriptive, that you can't help but picture exactly what the author is describing:thumbsup:

What a nice way to send you off on your new adventures.
((Hugs))

Aw, Christmasstar, what fun you will have! Seriously!!!

Bravo! Looking very good for your first square!

I'm glad you had such a fun night!

I'm glad Anna is better!

I'm glad you are enjoying Palmer's antics - she is a hoot! I brought the pie (homemade pie crust with a filling of black cap raspberries and a streusel topping - looks yummy!!) to the Pines as per Made's request.

Prayers are most definitely on the way!!! {{{HUGS}}}

Thanks, Meceka!!

I LOVE that song!!! It was the top song in the annual Christmas song countdown for the local radio station a few years ago.

I wish I didn't enjoy beer so much! Lots of calories!!
Can't wait to buy some of my favorite [Leinenkugel's] Octoberfest beer.

I really liked them, too. The first book was truly a magical read!!!

Happy Birthday to Jeannine!

Well said!

We are proud of you, too, snowflake!!!

Thank you, friend.

xx

So good to hear from you, HmG! I hope you can move back in soon and that things will get back to normal. So sweet of your parents to let you have the house. {{{Hugs}}}

The record should fall some time tomorrow.
Who - will - it - be??

WOW!

I don't know...the words "murder" and "Christmas" just don't seem to go together. cheesy

"The Twelve Crimes of Christmas" is not ALL murder---The Ellery Queen story is about a master thief, and "Do Your Christmas Shoplifting Early" is about a scam. It's worth having the book just for those two, and for the intro by Isaac Asimov---he goes a bit into the history of Christmas. I read them early in the season, and then read cozier stuff closer to the Day.

BTW, I got out of the office shortly after it closed at 1 p.m., and Mr. got out early, too, so we went and had a big lunch to kick off the long weekend. Yay! May get some ice cream later. No special plans for the weekend, but that's a good thing.

Great news!! Good for you guys. Enjoy your holiday weekend!!

That story is in the hardcover "Murder for Christmas." There's a Maigret story, too.

Good to know!! Thanks!!
