Good Morning MMC!!!!!!! It's going to be a little bit warmer today with a high near 32. Hopefully it gets warmer than that. We haven't been above freezing in over a week. We are supposed to get another 3 to 6 inches of snow overnight and they are saying that it's going to be a heavy snow. Yuck!!! That's not what I need. I have way to much to do tomorrow and one of those things includes an hour drive each way to go with my sister and niece's on a polar express train ride. So I really don't need the roads to be bad. Thankfully there's not much on my agenda for today. I just need to do some things around the apartment and then run to the grocery. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!

Good afternoon!
We are without electricity, and have been that for almost 24hours!!!
And It's 28f outside!
We had a storm here yesterday.
And we don't know when the power is up again

Well hope YOU have a much better day! ❤

So, hope you all have a great day!

I want to go back to bed after just reading all of that. Good luck getting it all done!!!!

My mom is going this morning for a sonogram to check for ovarian cancer. We had a family member who passed away from it years ago. I'll keep you updated when I know anything!

Well today I decorated, got the lights that I needed for the house, finished all my Christmas shopping, wrote 3 blogs, did four loads of laundry, and watched a movie with my son after we had dinner together. It was good day! :-)

I just want to say how much I appreciate this message board and being able to share the Christmas season with other people who are like-minded and love celebrating everything about Christmas.

Keeping her in my prayers.

That is amazing! thanks for posting! so some of the lakes do freeze at least the parts at the shoreline where the water is more shallow...I wonder how far offshore the ice is...I have this website I have saved to my favorites and I check it everyday year around...what it does is monitor the ice and snowcover all over the world. Last year was the first year I monitored it and one of the lakes(the one above ohio) was shaded yellow(meaning ice covered) a few days in mid Jan. By feb it was back to just blue meaning it was melted.Of course the last few years our winters have been mostly mild... That is probably the shallowest lake of the great lakes because it was the only one indicated that it was frozen over. Now the Hudson Bay in Canada is almost completely frozen over now it started icing up in early Nov. but that is so far up north I just can't imagine that kind of cold. thanks again for the pics those are so cool!

You're very welcome! Yep they did say it was iced over. Those pics were taken March 16th of this year. I said last year because I think in school year terms. LOL Sorry about that - to me his "last year" could mean the spring of the actual year we're still in and in this case it did.

I can tell you what WAS frozen over in ice that same week. A few days later I flew back to Florida out of Niagra Falls Intl in Niagra, NY. The plane was an hour late taking off as they had to de-ice. The run way faces north so taking off we were heading for Canada, flew north over Lake Ontario and then banked for the turn around south. The flight being late was now just after sunset. So you could see the towns, then the wooded areas with sparse house lights and then suddenly there was the lake, but no one knew it was the lake at first because it was so odd looking.

Everyone was asking, "What is that?" People were taking pictures. We were banking left, I had a window seat on that side. It was so beautiful and mystical looking from that angle. In the darkness the lake was bluish white at the edges, then gradually was darker and darker towards the center till black looking. It was incredible! It was a portion of Lake Ontario.

I knew they must have massive areas of icing because my uncle lives on the river there in Youngstown, NY just north of Niagra. He has a sail boat at the marina and they're only allowed to sail a few months of the year. The boats are also hoisted out of the water in winter so they do not freeze in the water. In late winter/ early spring you can see huge sheets of ice flowing down river to the Falls.

In reference to my above post..ice and snow and the weather have always interested me...My beloved grandmother(my dads mom) the one that I was referring to in the post a few pages back, the one that was like my 2nd mother....she was born in 1912 and she was raised on a very large horse farm in extreme western Kentucky looking on the map it was almost on the Indiana state line. Anyhow she moved to south Georgia after she graduated college and started teaching 2nd grade. Anyways my dad decided to stay in Ga where he was raised so that is why I never had a lot of winter weather to speak of. I can remember my Granny telling me as a little girl she could remember the small ponds they had on the farm freezing over and all the kids in town would come over to ice skate in the winters. Now that was in the 1920 I guess! Well those ponds I am sure never freeze over anymore I would venture to guess...I don't know if you wanna call it global warming but the weather patterns are changing no doubt about it..I just find it so neat about things like that. I am sure in the northern states the ponds do freeze up but Kentucky? Sorry for rambling on and on about nerdy stuff:)

Well I better get up and get ready for work. I have to go fetch Brandi and kids at the airport after work and I am so glad they are returning! My in laws are coming here on the 28th through Jan 2. So maybe Brandi won't be all upset and sad when she gets back here because that is just around the corner. It is 6F with highs suppose to get about 28F with a few light snow showers this afternoon! Have a great early morning everyone! and TGIF! oh and it's the 13th too! Ick!

It absoloutely does still freeze over. Western Kentucky gets the lake effects coming down from Erie through Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. We have friends in Louisville who ice skate on a pond near their house. Not every year, but many.

Thanks Made! Hope you're able to get everything done with no problems on the roads. Bud, my husband, is leaving Fairfax, VA this evening to make Floyd, VA to avoid the storm being predicted for Saturday. Wasn't supposed to leave till Sunday but that Florida-boy haaaates driving on the ice. Snow he doesn't mind at all. The ice they're predicting with the freezing rain... forget it.
