My daughter is ok, she was very lucky.
The ice ended up melting today with the warmer temperatures. But we have a lot of snow that is melting and rain coming our way tomorrow. Then another blast of cold air will be here by Tuesday so I'm sure everything will freeze up again. I'm going to pick up salt tomorrow, I just need to make sure it's safe for the dogs paws!

So glad to hear that she is ok, HmG.

We buy the salt that is safe for Harlowe, too. Good stuff.

Stay warm

Well the snow has kind of died off for awhile thankfully. We've got around 8 inches or so now. Every county is under a travel warning including Indianapolis for the first time in my life. The mayor asked business's not to open tomorrow so I'm hoping mom's work doesn't make her try to. I would have been even happier if they had declared a Travel Emergency and just banned traveling out right. There are also 30,000 power outages right now and the wind hasn't even started blowing yet. So I've been cooking up some pasta salads and made up some ham salad and egg salad to eat if we lose power.

Hoping that you will not lose power! But if it comes to that, at least you will have something good to eat.

Thank goodness!

Congratulations on your MMC anniversary! Seems like we've known you a long time. I hope you're here for at least 40 more years!

Good for you! Best of luck with your editing course---let me know how it goes. There are so many people out there who think anybody can proofread professionally, but it's much more than just reading … being on the lookout for grammar and punctuation errors, inconsistencies, inaccuracies, errors in logic … it keeps you on your toes. I've been proofreading professionally for nearly 30 years (most corporate and advertising), and I'm proud to say that everyplace I've ever worked, someone has called me Eagle Eye. Where I work now, they're uncomfortable when I'm out of the office for vacation or illness---they just don't trust anyone else the way they trust me. And Mr. is a proofreader, too.

I would like to do it full time but it's a bit of a gamble.

Good afternoon, MMC!

I hope everyone is safe and warm/cool!

The snow is still falling at a steady pace - looking quite wintery out now. Today would have been my dad's 87th birthday - I made oatmeal peanut butter bars to celebrate. I used a different kind of peanut butter, one that is supposed to be healthier, and the bars turned out a bit dry. Perfect with milk!

(((Hugs)))
Oatmeal peanut butter bars sound yummy!

Still trying to get over having the decorations down. It's a little sad when I go to the basement and see the boxes and tree in the corner. I tell myself they're recharging their Christmas magic for next year. I may boost my spirits by digitizing a Christmas LP this evening.

I also synced my iPhone with non-Christmas music. Even though I'll miss it, it's time for the Christmas music to rest and recharge its magic, too.

It's also a little sad to go back to regular workweeks. It has been SO much fun to have time off to enjoy Christmas and New Year's. But again, it'll be so special when the time comes around again.

Well the maintenance man just came through and plowed. So that means mom's car is buried in again. I better get out there and shovel it out before the snow starts really coming down again.

Sending prayers, I hope you don't lose power and your mom doesn't have work. Be careful!

I would like to do it full time but it's a bit of a gamble.

If you want prestige and high pay, it's NOT the ideal career! But it suits us.

If you haven't already, you may try doing some freelance proofreading to offset the gamble. There are always graduate students who need their theses proofread, or authors who need manuscripts proofread. And some marketing departments and advertising firms farm out proofreading to freelancers.

Chili is ready!!!

I won a Possible Dreams Santa on Ebay today, really great price. I will post pictures of him when he gets here.

Good luck hunting for stuff!

Congrats!
I was looking at Keepsake ornaments on EBay this morning. Just looking though, I'll get in trouble if I buy!
