There is nothing quite the same as the sound of a REALLY good barbershop quartet (or chorus) locking onto a chord---especially in person. I hope the quartet DOES go on with it! If they don't already, they should look into joining the Barbershop Harmony Society if there's a local chapter.

Full disclosure: My dad and uncle were both barbershoppers when I was little. I fell in love with four-part harmony then, and I STILL love good barbershop. I have recordings, but I haven't heard live barbershop for too long. In the 1990s my dad and uncle sang with two other guys as the Glade-Tones. (They weren't very good, but they were barbershop!)

We once had a 16mm film print of "The Music Man," but we finally sold it in favor of watching the DVD---because the 16mm print wasn't in wide-screen format, it bothered me that I couldn't see all four of the Buffalo Bills onscreen! One of them was always cropped out in the 4:3 format.

Your dad & uncle were great! I'd love to be able sing like that!

We finally got home late last night, and I was really looking forward to getting some sleep. But SOMEBODY kept calling me, giggling and asking if my refrigerator was running and if so, I should go catch it. Grrrrr!

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

Today is the first showing of "The Music Man", and Elizabeth is so excited! She was still awake when I went to bed last night, and she was up before I left for work this morning. I hope she's not too tired tonight!

We're going tonight, but Friday night sold out before we could buy tickets. Then we're going Saturday night and Sunday evening. It's been a long few months of preparation, but it should be a great show.

Now Nancy is on me about making vacation plans. I just want to go to the mountains and relax for 7 or 10 days, but I don't think that is in the cards for me.

Does anyone have any experience on Sanibel Island, FL? Good grief.

Ahhhhhhhh, MMC!!!! It's good to be back; how I've missed you~ I'm home, can you believe it; I can't....I cannot believe that I did what I did for, well what, around 6 weeks of working 70-80 hours a week. I'm exhausted. I'm going to stay up and hang for a few more hours and then go to bed. I want to wait until later tonight till I go to sleep, so as to get my body back to a more normal sleeping and living pattern.

I'm off work for the next 4 days before I go back....I've already been assigned, to start the design on another project as soon as I get back to the office. So, starting as of this moment, I'm taking some time off. I've already taken a shower, got my PJ's on, and am sitting here relaxing on the couch.

I think the Mrs is still in shock right now, that I'm home....She's teasing me about it, right now: lol! Well, time for a home cooked meal. see ya!:munch:

Hello everyone!

Got a phone call from my mum this morning saying a delivery company picked up the parcel for me. There are more books coming my way, and much more chocolate! My friends will obviously be very happy about that while for me, it means a funeral to my diet. :lol:

I am just excited about the holidays getting here again. Also, you know how Texas is? We don't mind having some temps in the 70's, I just want to skip those triple digit summer temps and go right into fall!

Good beautiful Hump Day/Pines Day morning MMC!

I had an awesome night last night. After work I walked Gracie across the street to the park. Her best friend Lexi (neighbors golden doodle pup) was there. They are so funny together. They had a ball!!! After Lexi left, Gracie & I jogged 3x around the baseball diamond fence & we walked home. I jumped on my bicycle for my 1st ride of the year. I only got 3 miles in when it was looking like rain, but it felt GREAT! I ate supper while it rained (since hubby wasn't going to be home) then the sun came back & I walked with my neighbor & her friend. We had to stop at our other neighbors to see the HUGE crappie fish he caught. He had a bunch of them. I ended up with 7.7 miles walking/jogging yesterday! Now for a repeat tonight... (minus the rain) Buster slept great last night & so did I!

Hubby probably won't be home for supper again tonight (UPS is killin um) but I have to grill the marinated pork chops I unthawed so they don't go bad! He can always re-heat them sometime! I won't be home tomorrow night, so that should work well!

I just love bike riding! It feels great and you feel like you are gliding along, doesn't it???

I know what you mean about UPS! My brother works for them and he has to leave so early in the morning and gets in so late! I feel bad for him. I don't know how he has time to compete in 5k and 10k races all the time. He usually finishes 1st and 2nd, in HIS age group, not overall. I want his energy!!! I hope things slow down for your hubby soon!

Thank you! (And thank you to all those yesterday who wished Mr. well.) I've been badgering him to drink plenty of water, tea, and hot broth. He stayed home from work today so he could get plenty of rest. I hope he's resting and not doing busy stuff. He's not one for just sitting or lying around.

Another healthy thing to add to replenish fluids is coconut water. Pure coconut water - no sugar added. You can get it at health food stores - Whole Foods is one place that carries it. Maybe some regular super markets might have it too but most of the time it's not pure coconut water with additives - not as healthy. I keep it on hand all the time for exercising or if someone gets ill. Or I guess you could poke a straw in a coconut! =) It replaces electrolytes naturally. I hope he feels better soon!

Thank you for the advice! I know he won't try it, but I'll keep it in mind for the next time I need it. He still didn't feel up to going to the office today, but he's doing better. It's sunny today and supposed to go up to 60F---I told him he should take a short walk later to get some fresh air. I've managed to steer clear of catching his cold so far. (I hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying so!)

Paul McCartney just announced a few USA tour dates with more announcements on the way. I am hoping he makes his way nearby! We just saw him last May in Austin and now I am spoiled because we got tickets right next to the stage! How could I ever go back to nose bleed seats again??? Ha ha! The first 2 times I saw him I had to depend on the large screen to see him but this last time I could see him without it!!! I am not sure I could afford those seats again! I will not buy from resale either! They really raise the prices on them! At cost you have to be sitting on the computer as soon as they go on sale because Paul will sell out within 30 minutes to an hour! We lucked out last time and got those great seats - there were a lot of fans not too happy because they were on the computer as soon as they went on sell and did not score any because he sold out so fast!

I think Sugar understands all this! You know how it is when you are getting tickets to see Luke! =)

We will see Ringo this summer and it would be nice to add Paul to that list! Let's hope we can!

Here I go again! I got to go and get ready for the day and didn't get a chance to catch up on here!

I said Oh yes, I want to go back to Disney since they opened up some new parts and also back to Universal Studios so we can see the new Harry Potter section that will open this summer....

Ahhhhh, good morning! It's been a little while since I was able to sleep for 12 hours.....Coffee - Yesssssss!!!!!

Wow! It feels soooooo weird right now, I sort of feel, like I'm forgetting to do something or like, there is something is out of place; kind of feeling; Oh yes, I'm not working.... And I like it!!!!!

I'm going to spend all day doing ------nothing! Except for whatever I decide to do, by choice! Yes!!!!!

You know something, today is the first time that I have awaken and there was sunlight streaming in thru the windows.. Usually, I get up in the morning, it's dark outside, I get home in the morning, it's dark outside; go! fiqure....LOL!

Well, I'm going to make a big breakfast, enjoy my coffee and then wait for the boy to get home this morning. He has just called me and was asking, "Dad, can help me get my taxes done"! I like, your kidding me right; it's like the 11th hour before a due date and your just starting them now???? Kids, even when their 21, they still act like little kids...helpless! Ok, change of plans, breakfast then help him get his taxes done.....fun-fun!

Oh by the way, he's leaving for Texas again for 10 weeks of specialty schooling in the Air Force, he leaves this coming Tuesday morning....So, needless to say, I want to hang with him for a little while; he's my boy.....

And the numbers tell us that we are now under 2 1/2 weeks away from the 200-day Season Window Milestone and just 16 days off from the 1/3 Christmas Day point.
(The rolling year is really rolling by, isn't it!)

A bit warmer yesterday but still coolish where we did not make it out of the 60's. Even had a spot or two of rain.
Now today is supposed to be different, with clear skies and a high of at least 72.
To start things off, we record 42 degrees here on our back door thermometer at this hour.
