Christmas Countdown - 2014

Good Evening Everyone!!!!!!! Like I said earlier, mom's count was finally up to 2.2. She has to go back again on Friday to have it checked again just to make sure it doesn't go to high now. If it stays good then it will be every 2 weeks and then monthly. The easter egg hunt went really good. There was about 50 kids and we ended up doing 1300 eggs. So everyone got plenty. After we got done at the park the whole family went out for lunch at Steak n Shake. I think half of the families from the egg hunt had the same idea because the restaurant was packed with kids all hyped on sugar!!! Then I went and picked up a few more things for more niece's birthday next weekend and stopped at the grocery store. Now it's finally time to kick back and watch some Nascar racing!!! I hope everyone has a great evening!!!

Thanks for the prayers for Maggie!
I never thought about Bentley waking me up because of an animal being outside. You never know, i have a big sliding glass door in the back of my house. He's always looking out of it in to the yard. I assumed the little devil wanted a can of food. I leave dry food out all of the time but he looks forward to those cans. We'll see what happens, I'm praying it doesn't become an everyday thing!

Hello Christmas friends.

We met parents for dinner tonight. Then we went to my wife's grandpas house and stayed. He hasn't woken up all day and hospice is saying it could be any time. I took his dog for a walk. He's a sweet dog! Bless his little heart, he doesn't understand.

This week I watched a movie I've never seen before and I'm trying to figure out if it's a Christmas movie or not. It's called "3 Godfathers" and it has John Wayne leading a trio of outlaws running from a posse. They are in the desert and come across a woman whose husband died and she is giving birth. The mother dies and the three agree to take the baby. They use the mom's Bible as a guide to take the baby to the nearest town that happens to be called New Jerusalem. Anyway, it takes place on Christmas and the holiday plays a central role in the plot. We even hear a Christmas carol or two. But instead of quaint snowy villages it takes place in the badlands of Arizona. It's a really good movie!

That movie sounds familiar ~ I wonder if it is one my dad owned. If so, I have it here somewhere.

The funny thing about our wildest ones is that they are also the most loving ones. Sidney, who I swear was born with a few screws loose, is the most loyal loving cat I have ever seen. He is almost like a puppy to JP, follows him everywhere, the first to comfort him when he is feeling sad, and the first to greet him at the door when he gets home. He has another gear when it come to wild, he has literally climbed the walls!

Palmer follows me around a lot, too ~ just like my dog Trapper did. She doesn't greet me at the door, though. She hides until she is sure it is me ~ usually when I take off my shoes she feels it is safe to come out.

Sometimes it's a tempting thought to join Facebook, and block everybody except MMC people! It would be a chance to get to know some of you better. But I think I'd rather not stick my toe into Facebook and get trapped.

I used FB far more when I first joined than I do now. The bulk of the time I've spent on there in the past few years would probably be the Greasy Skillet chats I used to join in on when I could get the page to load.

It is a bee-yootiful day out there---sunshine and up into the 60s. We have our windows open to let in the fresh air and blow out the cold germs. It's nice to hear birds again! We're going to drive to Friendly's for lunch and some ice cream shortly. (I have to eat hearty today, 'cause tomorrow all I get is clear liquids and Jell-O---prepping for a minor procedure on Monday. Nothing to worry about, it's just a test to establish a baseline. Goes with the age bracket.)
