This time of year I really start thinking about Halloween. I've been going through my film collection to make my Halloween 2014 "Watch List."

Are there any movies that you all watch every year around Halloween? What titles get you into the spirit of the Halloween season? Are there any you recommend?

On my list for this year...so far...
House of Dark Shadows (1970)
The Uninvited (1944)
Night of the Creeps (1986)
House of Dracula (1958)

I am not into scary movies at all BUT there is only one scary movie I will watch (sometimes) and that's the Exorcist. That is frightening enough for me. I watched it for the first time in the 80's and just can't bring myself to try more scary movies. Just really not my thing.

What I will watch for Halloween is more of the fun silly stuff.

The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Garfield Halloween
Actually any kids Halloween shows and movies
I enjoy a lot of sitcoms that are Halloween related. My favorites are from Roseanne.

I guess those are not related to movies but they are my Halloween Viewing. :pumpkin:

The original Halloween is my favorite movie. It captures something special.

Trick R Treat is pretty good for a more modern Halloween themed movie though!

Great list, Ryan!!

I don't have "new" ones that I want to see, per se. But, there are classics that are must see's over the season, if not before.

Love the Exorcist & original Halloween, as CAH & Ginger Mel both said!!

Also have to watch Lady In White & Something Wicked This Way Comes.

The Good Witch is also a favorite!

Wind Chill is another. More Winter, but still really enjoyed it.

Have you seen The Innocents? Loved it, another classic.

Hocus Pocus, The Halloween Tree, Watcher In The Woods, and Tower of Terror are kid friendly spooky movies.

Other classics I watch are Burnt Offerings, The Changeling, and Dark Night Of The Scarecrow. Creepy...

Awesome thread!!

Guess this is our sharing of scary movies!!!!

I think the Changeling is a great, underrated haunted house movie. It is creepy without being gory and violent.

I need to see Burnt Offerings. I read about it but have not seen it.

Great lists everyone!

I agree! Burnt Offerings is kind of the same way. So eerie!

I also just thought of another ghost story that I love! Old school.

Wait for it: .....
"Ghost Story"!!!

Look at the names, awesome. The book is outstanding, too.

I might be able to handle these!!!

A few are more "horror-like" as opposed to "Halloween-ish"...

The original "Halloween" is always a favorite.

Have you seen the new "Carrie" movie (2013-Chloe Grace Moretz)? I thought it was a really decent remake of the original (1976-Sissy Spacek), which is also a favorite to watch at Halloweentime.

I also love "Christine".

"Hocus-Pocus", "The Craft", and "Practical Magic" are must-see movies for me.

"The Birds" is a great, scary classic.

Have you seen "The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane"? Jodie Foster/Martin Sheen. It's old and pretty disturbing, but I have liked it since I was pretty young.

"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" (1978 B movie/cult classic) is funny and stupid, and hard to find, but it's good for a chuckle.

I think I'm gonna have to check out "Ghost Story", especially with a cast like that.

My must watch list is short:

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Garfield's Halloween
Hocus Pocus
E.T.

If I can catch Halloween themed sitcoms shows great but sometimes it does work out.

Yea! Ditto for me on all of the above Minta! I cannot watch the modern horror stuff! I'm a big scary cat, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I did~

However, I do love to watch the old B&W scary movies and anything like Abbott and Costello met the..... movies!

That is just what I was going to say too, Made! =)

I love the kid friendly fun Halloween stuff even with decorations. Not into horror and gore.

Another one is, Ernest Scared Stupid. Ha ha! Not a favorite of mine but the kids love it and I find it entertaining.

I have seen quite a few more scary movies and I enjoyed them at the time but nothing I want to see again. Just get too freaked out! Then I find myself occasionally wanting to watch the Exorcist? Freaky movie!

I forgot about that movie! Yes, I have seen it and it is creepy! I don't remember all the details but maybe I might try to watch it again.

Thanks for sharing your list!

Amen to the old B&W movies! :)

I'm not a fan of gory or disturbing films either.

I've never actually seen all of the Exorcism! Dare I watch it? :)

Of course, the Great Pumpkin is a tradition in our house! We love it and it ushers in our holiday Peanuts (we love the Thanksgiving and Christmas ones too)!

TMC does a horror film festival each year, if I recall.

To me, to be Halloween viewing, it can't just be a horror film (which can be set at any time of the year), it has to be about Halloween.

But I prefer "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and ABC Family's "13 Nights of Halloween"...speaking of which, anyone know when the "13 Nights of Halloween" schedule comes out this year?
