Yesterday Wayne and I went downtown to the arts museum. We were trying to be very respectful of the art but wanted to bust out laughing at some of it. Why on earth do they have people guarding this "work of art" I posted here? Yes, there were people really watching everyone around this. They even had a sign nearby explaining the faint 4 white lines on the dark background and its meaning. I am sure it's worth millions too.

There was a lot of art there that was worthy of praise but this one and a few others were a bit ridiculous. Or maybe we just don't get it?

.

I don't get it, either … why is one canvas spattered randomly with paint an accident, but a canvas spattered with paint by a guy called an artist considered a masterpiece? Only because one is intentional and one is not? Not intending to be disrespectful here---I guess that's a plane of art that's over my head. And as for "performance art"---I saw an article some time ago about a guy who wanted to cover a hotel room in cheese. Where's the art in that? (Sorry, sounds like a rant, not meant that way!)

Happy Sunday morning!

Not much to post about lately. Clients have been so demanding and frustrating at the office in recent weeks, but things cleared up a bit on Friday afternoon and I was released a little after 4 p.m. I'm grateful for my job, and I work with fine people, but some days get awful crazy.

I hear geese flying overhead, honking. Are they moving southward already? Last week was a cool week, but we're supposed to get August heat coming back this week, just in time for the end of summer. Trying to do at least a little work on Christmas projects each day so there isn't a crush of stuff to do as the season approaches. Mr. is going through the gift stash and filling out the list of what will go to whom. I'm working on our YuleTube for this year and other CD and DVD projects for people on my gift list, and working on a Christmas afghan. It may not be the season yet, but it's definitely the pre-season here!

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there.... Good morning! It's a bright sunny Sunday morning around here and it's a welcome, wonderful change from yesterday's weather. They had predicted a 40% chance of rain in these parts, and it ended up raining all...day...long....~ So, what did that mean for me, that meant that I had to move Victoria into her dorm house, in the rain. What a wet, humid, muddy mess, it was. So, right now, I got one away, back in school and the other one, is back home from the military (active duty) getting settled back in; he's back to a weekend warrior status - (Seems like I have a revolving door on the house)....

I can tell that I have a 21 year old male at home, for instance, like last night, he gets up and says he's hungry and is going to make a snack. Next thing, I smell something baking in the oven and here he comes with a plate of baked breaded chicken breast, tacos and dip; (a snack????), LOL.... Looks like I'm going to have to go to the grocery store and stock up a bit...

Not, going to do a whole lot today, Lisa's parents are heading up here right now, and then we are going to go out for brunch. After that, do some more packing around here and just getting things ready for work tomorrow morning; my boss will be back from vacation so I want to get in before him and give him the update of things when he gets there....

I'll stop by here later this evening to see how everyone one's day has been....

Hi everyone!

I am back from an extended absence and vacation in Europe. I had a nice long post explaining my vacation, but it somehow was deleted. Good stuff. Instead, I will bring you some exciting photos from Tinseltown, Ottawa's Christmas Emporium! Upon my return to Ottawa, I had been in need of Christmas. Kim and I visited Tinseltown, especially in hopes of the fact that their expansion would be fully complete. Unfortunately, their expansion is not yet done, but I was able to take a peak (and some photos) into their current renovating of new Christmas wonderland and I cannot wait until its grand opening on September 13th!

When Kim and I arrived at Tinseltown on Wednesday (for the first time since about May), the owner saw us and said they weren't yet done the renovation, but remembered me and said "Hey, aren't you the guy that really loves Christmas?" I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. My love for Christmas is even evident from the owner of a small local Christmas shop. Of course, he loves Christmas, too, but it's just funny have my love for our season to be recognized by someone that dedicates his life to it, too!

Anyway, here are some fun photos. I tried to take photos of new things. I think I did a pretty good job. According to the owner, he said that their 2014 Christmas stock is currently in transport and they will be debuting it with the grand opening of their new extension! So exciting!!!!!!

Classy plates!

A new shining assortment of ornaments mixed with classics of years past:

A glowing tree with some classy purple ribbon:

A nice new assortment of cloths, stockings and throws/blankets. Somehow, I missed the blankets - at the bottom - while I was there. I will have to look at them upon my return.

I think we're all craving some of these right now!:

Welcome home!! Great to have you back again.
love the pictures, wish we would have had time to visit there when we were in Ottawa, but next time it will be a definite place to visit.

Santa and Rudolph will help light up your Christmas Season or even every night!:

It didn't come out as well as I had hoped, but I really enjoyed these faux wooden snowflakes hanging from the ceiling:

And, finally, a sneak peak into the new Christmas expansion! I can't wait to step into that area of Christmas is a mere three weeks! Yes, we all recognized the giant Santa, but everything around him appears to be fairly new!

Thanks, Star! It's great to be home. The store is doing very well. The owner is a really nice guy and his staff, which includes both his mom and (possibly) grandfather are super nice! I am sure that it will be great to visit the next time you return to Ottawa!

I loved it, too! We need(ed) a nightlight here, but Kim chose a classy lamppost one (not pictured). Perhaps it will be part of my decoration photos that will be taken in less than three months!!
