hot here today too, last time it was this hot was the end of June. we have not had to many hot days this summer it has been a rather cool one. We are hopeful there will be no rain for the long weekend so we can enjoy our last camping trip.

Days to the Season: 78
Days to Christmas Day: 120
Can we really be down to UNDER three weeks until the 100-day Christmas Day Window, after which we will be in a double-double digit count sequence?

The answer to all of the above is a resounding "YES!"
(Really. Santa says so!)


Fabulous weather continued yesterday and with luck, it will be with us for one more day.
By Friday, the heat and humidity will start to make a comeback.
Until then, I am enjoying today's start at 61 degrees.


Make sure to visit the 'Pines this evening for the final open house of August.
Carl is a bit tight lipped -- and you haven't lived until you've seen a tight-lipped camel -- but it may be in the nature of a "Farewell to Summer" theme.
Sounds a bit sad but not to worry. With Carl in charge, it's sure to be a blast!

Good evening,

Tomorrow is the first day of school for the boys, hard to believe summer vacation is over. My wife went back today after missing yesterday for the funeral. Her students also start tomorrow.
I took the boys to the zoo today as a way to give them a little more attention after this weekend of having to be with friends of ours while we were at the wake & funeral. We felt we needed to give them that for being so patient and understanding. Of course while we were at the zoo, we saw Carl and his buddy.

He is smiling with my boys.

We had a good time there.

I am off tomorrow, so I get to see my boys get on the bus.

Good morning from me!
I am back from visiting my cousins in Vilnius. Although I spent less time there than expected (4 days), we did quite a lot and attended many events because the country celebrated 25th anniversary of the Baltic Way. I still don't have the pictures because most of them were taken by my cousin.
I am flying back to Scotland on 19th - finally purchased my ticket yesterday. To be honest, I am looking forward to new academic year. ^^ For now, I don't have any more plans for the remaining time I am home but I am sure I will figure something out. :]

So it will be another day spent inside working on projects around the house for me. I might try to squeeze a Christmas movie in since I never got around to it on Monday. Yesterday's headache is still here and I'm not feeling well in general. I worked through it yesterday, but today I'm staying home to try to beat it.

Also some sad news yesterday. One of Gloria's kitties, Pumpkin, was very ill and had to be put to sleep yesterday. Gloria is devastated, and I'm sad myself. When we visited, he used to curl up in my lap and go to sleep. In some ways he was a little stinker, but still a very sweet cat.

I'm so sorry to hear about Pumpkin. Sending up prayers for Gloria ~

My headaches have been awful lately. I keep waking up with them, it's a horrible way to start the day. I'm glad you were able to stay home today. I hope you get plenty of rest and feel better xx

It was a busy evening again. Jacob's new band practices out-of-town on Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 pm. That boy has to get his driver's license!

It's still nice in the mornings this week, but it'll be back in the upper 90's by the weekend. We're planning a stay in a nearby cabin for the three-day weekend with Nancy's family, so it should be fun. Lulu gets to spend the weekend at my mom's. She loves it there, and my mom loves Lulu as much as we do. She'll be so spoiled, she might not want to come home on Monday!
