Christmas Countdown - 2014

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

Crown is out of town today, and the burden of responsibility rests on my shoulders this morning. I woke up this morning and thought, "Oh, my! Don't forget to post the count!"

So let's see where we are today:

Days to the Season: 7 (ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!):-D
Days to Thanksgiving: 21 (THREE WEEKS FROM TODAY!)
Days to Christmas Day: 49 (SEVEN WEEKS FROM TODAY!)

Not too shabby!

I made my usual 6 laps around the county yesterday, shuttling kids to different events. Jacob is 17 now. It seems like he could handle some of this for me. :-? Anyway, I fell asleep on the couch before they got home from youth service at church last night. I was beat, for some reason. And this morning, Jacob had to go to school early for tardy detention. We live two blocks from school and he's late! LOL!

Thanks for the update, Brad! You should definitely have Jacob doing some of that legwork now. He's old enough! I'm sure that he is responsible, too... although that detention has me wondering a little. Those happen though. Sometimes living close to school can be a detriment!

Happy Friday Eve Everyone!



Put out the first of 4 Christmas Trees I plan to have in the house this year! This is my quaint but festive tree in our office/studio. Pardon the clutter, our office is usually a lot more neat and organized but with having to move stuff around to replace the power supply unit in my PC, plus setting up my broadcasting equipment, it is a mess :lol:



Anyway, first tree of the year in my house!

Wait till Joan gets home from work....I promised her I would not put up a tree till at least the day before Thanksgiving but I think she will understand I just could not wait, needed a tree in the office.

We did!! Not sure how much of a bargain it really was, BUT we are done & it's going to be delivered TOMORROW!! :-D Unlike the furniture place we normally buy from - they were 6-8 weeks out on some furniture 10-12 weeks on some others. We got a sleeper sofa & a chair for the "old room" & we got a rocking leather recliner for the "new room"! YAY...it's DONE!!! :grin:

Not sure how much of a bargain it really was, BUT we are done & it's going to be delivered TOMORROW!! :-D Unlike the furniture place we normally buy from - they were 6-8 weeks out on some furniture 10-12 weeks on some others. We got a sleeper sofa & a chair for the "old room" & we got a rocking leather recliner for the "new room"! YAY...it's DONE!!! :grin:

Good morning, everyone!

Work! Finally! Yes, I am back in Russell doing a little bit of teaching. I am in for a teacher with a few difficult classes again, but one of the classes was actually decent today. I have two more left. Hopefully the rest of the day goes as smoothly as the first period.

One week from today we will all be rejoicing in the beginning fo the Christmas Season. That sounds fantastic, doesn't it?! How about The 'Pines last night? Carl, once again, pulled out all the stops. I really thought he did a great job honouring those for his Veterans/Remembrance Day celebration. Despite a sombering topic, he always manages to make it a good time at The 'Pines! I can't wait for next week. We'll be able to countdown in realtime at The 'Pines.... I think that will be a first for me and many others!

I drove to work this morning, then finally got out of my car and realized, "Wow, it's a beautiful day." It is fairly overcast in Canada's Capital, but the winds are quite calm and there is some nice, crisp autumn air to be enjoyed. Temepratures are currently around 7c/45f. Not bad. We could be in for some wet weather tonight. Mixed precipitation is in the forecast. Snow, perhaps? As long as it doesn't make driving tomorrow morning too difficult, I am OK with it. I'll have to get my winter tires out sometime next week.

Still stuck at the office waiting for client feedback, then for the copy to be revised before I can proofread it---probably an hour or more yet. 9-1/2 hour day and counting. The only food available here is a little bag of Cheerios in my desk. I guess that will be dinner ...

Oh no! I hope you didn't have to stay too late & I hope you got something to eat for supper besides cheerios!! AND I hope today is better!

Brrrr...was just checking out the long-range forecast. Living up in "God's Country" in the U.P. of Michigan any time after Halloween is fair game for snow (and sometimes on Halloween); and, sure enough, calling for snow four days straight: Sunday through next Wednesday :

Our last few winters remind me of the ones we had when I was a kid in the 70s and early-80s - not only were we guaranteed a White Christmas, a White Thanksgiving was a sure bet, too.

Here we go!

I hope everyone is enjoying their evening. Just making some dinner now after the gym. The turkey burgers are starting to smell good! Can't go wrong with the burgers, fries and a caesar salad! Kim was actually supposed to make it, but she bought the wrong nail polish remover and has to go back to the drug store. Ha! It was bothering her.... Oh well.

Oh, I failed to mention earlier that Kim and I made a stop in to Tinseltown yesterday evening. My lamppost decoration was in and I made a couple other purchases as well. They had some new stock on the floor and it was so tempting not to purchase a few items, especially when my weakness (snow globes, especially) were in a high traffic area. We really enjoyed our visit. We will definitely have to go back at least once before Christmas. Good news with all this, too; The owner said that they have been super busy in the past week. He couldn't believe all the people coming in on Halloween! Then, it was also packed on the weekend, too! He's doing a great job with the shop. Hopefully this Christmas Season is a success for Tinseltown!

Good morning! I was driving to the store last night and on my way through the downtown of my town I saw the first signs of Christmas (besides stores)! The town had put up lighted garland on the streetlights throughout the downtown, along with "happy holidays" banners on every other light. Maybe today they will put up the snowflakes on streetlights without banners.

It's really beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I noticed the town we bought our furniture in last night had their Christmas decorations up. How exciting!!

Good Morning! It's a wet, soggy, foggy, pouring down rain morning here in Maryland this morning. The traffic was a bugger coming into work this morning, it was basically, bumper to bumper all the way here (for about 30 miles....); Yuck ...

I got home from work and was able to get all of my Halloween decorations down and in the house last night, before it started to rain. I have now officially started entering my Christmas mode now, I'm listening to Kringle Radio; (Love it.....) every single day now at work and am starting to really think about Christmas now, decorations, etc...

I've started looking at some decorations on-line and I came across a couple of things that I have my eye on, a couple of them are some new Blowmolds~ Oh boy, am I a Blowmold fan, I just love those things for outdoor yard decorations.

So, my thinking is, purchasing a new house, just needs and aches for some new decorations; am I right here with that thought????

While I was outside last night, I could hear an owl hooting down in the woods and after I came in, later on, I looked out the window, and there were (3) Doe's, standing about 25 feet from my house, grazing on the grass outside, and then about a half hour later, I could hear the train coming thru , down in the valley, blowing it's whistle...man, I just love those kind of things~

Hmmmmm, maybe it's time to start working on my wish list......

Happy Thursday everyone. Rainy morning here. I'm happy about the weather forecast we heard this morning. A chance of an inch of snow tonight then a slight warm up through Tuesday before a strong cold front with some snow and highs in the upper 20s/low 30's Wed-Sat. That is my kinda weather.

Taking the wife to a Dr appointment this afternoon. Her local Dr feels she may have Lupus so we are going to a specialist. It is a 2 hr drive. Our local health care is lacking. This is a great place to live but a bad place to be sick.

Good Morning, MMC!!!! It's going to be a rainy, windy, cold, and maybe snowy day here in central Indy. So I plan to just stay inside expect to go get the mail. After a few stressful days, today should be just a normal boring day with me just doing my normal daily chores and searching the job sites. Really exciting stuff. LOL!!! I'll probably work on my grocery list too but I will wait until tomorrow to go. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning MMC! Happy Friday Eve! Woo hoo!

As I mentioned earlier we bought new furniture last night, so I need to get the carpet cleaned in that room before tomorrow. I'm debating if I want to work through my lunch to get out early, or try to clean it on my lunch. I have a hair appt. after work, so I could probably work through, clean carpet, then go get hair done. Hmmmm! We'll see! It's icky outside - don't really want to go out anymore than I have too! :lol:

I just have to share a pic of the chair we bought last night...I had to have it! Reminds me of a ripple/chevron afghan! :-D

Since I put the tree up in the office I am totally not getting anything constructive accomplished :lol: Instead of doing work, I am working on converting old vintage vinyl Christmas albums to mp3 format and being an audiophile (RadioJonD would understand) I am just never satisfied with the end result. Currently working on what I believe to be an old A&P supermarket holiday promotional LP into mp3, I have over 100 of these old vinyl Christmas LPs, just sounds so much better on vinyl.

I think I am going to start a photo album of all these old vinyl records.

And I forgot to mention...TONIGHT is the BIG night!!! The Battle of Ohio!!! I am already wearing my orange & brown.... hubby will be sporting orange & black!! Always an interesting night at our household! :lol: I hope I'm the happy one at the end of the night!
