Good Morning, MMC!!!!! It's a snowy morning here in Central Indy with a high of 20 expected for today. We should top out around 2 inches of snow too. Then tonight we are headed back below zero. Yuck!!! I'm thinking of running to the grocery store once the snow stops but it just kinda depends what time that is. I may doing so some baking this morning while I am waiting on that to happen. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!

Brrrrrrr! Keep warm!

Good Day to all! Haven't been on here in a while. I think I'm finally getting over my seasonal depression I think. I'm always bummed out after the holiday season. Now I'm looking forward to planting my seeds and growing stuff. I'm planning on growing some pumpkins this year. Have a great day everybody!

Great to see you!!!

Good morning, (morning? it is for me), sigghhh, just having my coffee, quiet here, no here but me, but it is a little relaxing. I just checked my phone, and those idiots, that I work with, tried to call me at 9 am this morning. Ummmm, lets see, I was in my 5th hour of sleep at that time and as tired as I was last night, a bomb could of have gone off beside my bed and I would not of heard it...

Rough one last night, going to be another long night again dragging that 8 foot ladder around all night and climbing up and down it, popping ceiling tiles, getting all covered with insulation, dust, mouse poop and or whatever else drops down upon you...

I saw that while I was sleeping, it appears that we got about a 1/2 - 1 inch of snow this morning, enough to make the car, driveway and sidewalks white again. That's ok, I like to look at it, it feels natural and right for this time of year. It's like looking at bees and blossoms in the spring, ripe tomatoes growing in the garden in summer and multi colors of all the trees in the fall, it feels natural/ normal to me....

That's one good reason to why I like to live in this zone of the country, because of the colorful multi season we have and you also get a good feel/ taste of all 4 seasons~
Although, I sometimes talk about buying property in Florida (to be near Disney, Universal Studios and Key West), or maybe Aruba, or Grand Caymans, so that when it's -20 here, I could go there and live a couple months of the year.

Glad to hear you slept well, and great job getting "mouse poop" and "Disney" in the same post. Sounds like it should be the name of a news program on the Disney Channel. "Mouse Poop"

Goodnight, Everyone!!!

Beautiful!!!!

Is the old saying, "Pink sky at night, sailor's delight, pink sky in morn, sailor's be warned?"

I always heard it as:
Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning.
Red sky at night, sailor's delight.

The "pink sky" version is a new one to me!

Thank you for your thoughts and well wishes. I'm a stubborn/ willful thing, no matter how much effort it takes, pain, sweat, blood, tears, no matter how long it takes or when the time frame is to do whatever task, I will get er done.... They usually send me out, on jobs like this, if there is a tunnel to crawl thru, attic spaces, interstitial spaces, hazardous spaces, I'm your man...I'm not afraid to go in and find out what's in there.

However, there was this one job, that creeped me out a bit, it was this old courthouse, built around 1800 and, it was haunted because they used to hold prisoners in the bottom of it and then they would take them out back and hang them; they had pictures of it. Well the place was haunted and the facilities guys, that worked there, wouldn't go down there, but I did, it was kind of cool, creepy and spooky, but I liked it...
:-D
Then there was this other job, a 1930's built elementary school, that when I went down in the crawl space (about 30 inches high), it was filled with spiders and cobwebs....:-D

Exploring tunnels would be cool, I know there is at least one tunnel left in town here. It goes from the first church to the rectory under the street for about 100 yards. I have always wanted to explore it, I don't know what type of shape it is in. There was another that was between 2 buildings but both those buildings were destroyed by the tornado back in 2011.

Thanks Made. I once found a six foot blacksnake above the ceiling on one project. Then there were these bats, in the copula of another job, mice... Oh man, I couldn't tell you how many times, I got home and had to undress in the garage, down to my dribbys, because I had mouse dropping, down inside the back of my shirt, from falling out of the ceiling tiles.... Ahhhhhhh, the job of a field investigative engineer....

Sometimes, I get so coated with insulation, I'm itching for days. And then there's they jobs that have asbestos above the ceilings and in the crawl spaces, Ohhh that's fun. Everyone has to remember, that asbestos is just like a snake, if you see it, do you go up and grab it by it's tail, no, because it will turn around and bite you. The same philosophy applies to asbestos, if you see it, don't touch it or disturb it, because it will bite you....

Yipe! I hope you're getting danger pay for the dirty and hazardous work.

Still, I bet sometimes it's awfully interesting to see the "bones" of an old building. I work in an office building that was originally built in the 1880s as a clock and watch factory. Happily, they retained the original window openings and the brick interiors, including the flaws, chips, etc., so the place has a lot of vintage character. But when it was originally converted to office space, I imagine the engineer may have had the same sort of adventures you are having now!

I did some online research about the building, and discovered that one wing of it was the original factory; then some years later they built another wing, slightly narrower. You can see in the brick of the original wing where they bricked up window openings when the new wing was built. There was a big clock tower between the two wings. The old clock from the tower now hangs in our reception area. The floor I work on is where the finest precision work was done. In an odd coincidence, our previous location was on Woerd Street---and one of the men who had this building built was Mr. Woerd, probably the same one the street was named after. I also found a video online of the building that was made (around 1999, I think) just days before work began on the remodeling. It was still in use as a factory up to that point.

Very interesting, I love histories of old buildings.

Well the day is slow creeping by so in honor of our missing fearless leader, who I hope is out building a snowman and enjoying some snow cream while waiting for their power to come back on, I present the Daily Countdown-

Days to the Season: 260
Days to Christmas Day: 302

That's right, only 2 days left until out next milestone!!!!!!

I hope Crown is safe.

Thanks for keeping the string going Made.

We got 7 inches of snow overnight. I talked to Mom today & Grandmother is doing better. Ate very well this morning & we hope she won't be in the hospital for much longer. She will be there 3 weeks on Sunday. Her birthday is Tuesday & that would be a great present for us all!

Glad to hear she is doing better, hope she gets out soon.

Thank you so much. The doctor gave Bella another shot for her allergies, hopefully the medicine will help her quickly. I just checked her and she's sleeping like a baby right now so that's good.
Hope you all enjoy your evening.

Good evening everyone. I just sent my oldest to the ER, she's been having pain for the past few days and it's not getting any better. The pain is kind of in the right side of her chest but she feels it in her back too. And it hurts when she tries to eat. She saw her doctor twice in the past few days. They sent her for a chest X-ray but didn't see anything wrong. The doctor told her to take an antacid for two weeks and then go back for a follow up appointment. She's in too much pain to do that so her boyfriend just drove her to the hospital. I'm waiting for my husband to get home and then we're going to be with her. I'm hoping we get an answer tonight. I expect to be there for quite some time, unless it's a slow night in the ER. I'll check back in here tomorrow morning.
I ran through the posts quick to see if there was any news about Gabulldawg, hope I didn't miss anything. Keeping him in my prayers.
Have a good night.
xx
