Christmas Countdown - 2015

so, ok now, I have some questions here to ask to Made, Jeff, Maureen, and others here, that know the inner workings of our security, networking and safety at MMC.

I saw that Merry and Sugar had mentioned their personal concerns about how and or why they do what they do about describing their loved ones. Now, that's fine and all, it is their choice and comfort ability levels and I'm 100% fine with that.

But, my question that I have, is for myself, how secure is what we post here, because I use my family's names and other day to day/ daily life things here about our lives and my life, because I am under the impression that our server is secure and that what we type/ post/ pictures/ albums/ friends, etc.... all are secure and private to us and the ones that we allow here to share in our lives.

Seriously, all joking aside, I am just looking to better educate myself about all that we do here and to be sure that it is safe here. And also, to share in that knowledge with all of us here as well.

The forums can be read by people who are not registered users, but only registered users can view and participate in certain features. I can't give you a comprehensive list, but just log out of the forums and poke around, and you'll get a feel for what's "open" and what isn't.

Also, if you click on "User CP" above, there is a setting that allows you to choose who can see your profile page and albums.

I'm at work and can't go into detail, but a PM to Made and/or Jeff will tell you more than I can.

We've been way too busy to really mourn, but Guinn is certainly missed. He was a part of the office for so long ... he was even in some of our agency Christmas cards that featured a group photo of the employees.

LOL, breakfast television out of Toronto has the host Kevin Frankish talking about all the homes that still have Christmas lights up and on.

They played "Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas" while showing the lights. (they looked great!!)

Kevin said they should come down because it is March, while his co host Dina said to leave them up and on as it made things brighter

I'm with Dina leave up it looks great !

I agree! The few lights that are still on display around here have been the only bright spot (yeah, it's a pun) in this these constant rounds of snow and bitter cold throughout February.

One good news/bad news about that: As the days get longer, the lights are less visible, but that means spring is coming!

My daughter is feeling a bit better today, thank God. She's still uncomfortable though, especially when she eats. I'm praying she's on the mend. It's been a week and she's already lost weight that she can't afford to lose. She has an appointment with a gastroenterologist tomorrow afternoon. Thank you so much for asking!

We ended up getting several inches of snow overnight, it looks beautiful out there. Not too much going on here today, I've been working on some chores around the house and I also had a few phone calls to make. I'm going to head out soon and run a few errands. Back home afterward to make a pot of chicken soup for my oldest. That's about it for me.

Good morning MMC! Happy Monday! (already, again!) I haven't been able to do any catching up again today - I feel so far behind around here. I hope all is well with all of you!!!! :smile:

Dad is POSSIBLY being released today - xx. Still unsure, but it's a possibility! That place is so messed up, can't wait for him to get out of there!! We witnessed a 1 car accident on our way home Saturday night - car went over an embankment & ended up under a bridge on a frozen river. 3 people were transported by squad & driver was okay! Scared the bejeezus out of me!! I can still see that car going over. Ahhhhhhhh! They went for a ride.

Ok - hate to fly already, but it's almost lunch time!!

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

It's been a wet weekend, so I didn't get a lot done. My brother and I worked on the Camaro Saturday, then we went to a church fund raiser yesterday, and had supper with my MIL last night. That's about it.

We have customers coming for the tour soon, so I better get to work.

Good Morning, MMC!!!!! It's going to be a chilly but sunny day here with a high of 27. It still looks like we are going to get freezing rain overnight. Yuck!!! Not to much going on today. Going to run some errands so I don't have to go out tomorrow or Wednesday when it is supposed to snow again. When I get back, I will probably so some more shoveling to try and clear up some of the area's that are melting as the sun hits them today. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!

Well were not a private board. So anyone can read. You just have to be a member to post. There are certain area's of the world that are blocked and have no access to the site. Your profile and photo albums are private and only registered members can see it. One thing to keep in mind though, is that we have 10,350 registered members even though there is only maybe 100 active posters. Now you can go in under the User CP tab at the top of the page and and then under the Profile Privacy link at the side of the page and change that so only people you have friended can see certain things under there.

Most of the security is aimed at keeping spammers and Creeps from posting.

While what I posted earlier is true, let's look at the reality side of it now. We can see how many times the countdown has been viewed in real time. So far this year it has been viewed 76,053 times and there are 10,676 posts. So it's been viewed roughly 7.1 times for every time someone posted. The vast majority of that is going to be all of us active people getting on and reading but not posting. Then there are also the members we know like RJD, Jayish, Jeff, and Maureen who get on and read but don't post much. So while yes, the forum is open for everyone to read, in reality, that's not happening. Sure there may be a few people who stumble across the site and start clicking through and reading, but there aren't hundreds or thousands of them. I doubt there are even tens of them throughout the year.

In fact, I just checked and there are no guests viewing the site at all right now.
