My mother is 70 years old today...
I dont know how to feel about that
She is my Mom, and forever young in my eyes and she was just 50!??
Well, time travels fast...

So how is everyone doing here?
When do schools starts again where you are?
Here the schools starts again at August 17th

We havent had much summer here
Can count the summerdays on one hand
The weather looks more like Autumn
So it's going to be a looooooong Autumn
And thats allright by me! ♡ I love Fall!

Well, break out the jingle bells and turn on those happy Christmas lights, because our next milestone is now only a week away!!!

Crown84 I'm sure will tell us all about this when he's back on Sunday morning, but our 3/4 mark to the season's beginning is one week from today!

Time sure is flying faster than Santa's sleigh, isn't it?

MUCH cooler here today after storms again last night. The high isn't even 80 degrees! But it's also cloudy and rainy. Hope everyone is staying cool and getting ready for a rockin' weekend!

Alright, Friends!
For the 9th consecutive year here at My Merry Christmas (and the 12th year overall) it is time to begin another Countdown!

Here are the statistics since we began the Season Countdown idea 11 years ago:
2004 = 1,217 posts (Christmas.com) = 3.3 posts per day.
2005 = Over 2,700 posts (Christmas.com) = over 7.4 posts per day.
2006 = 3,756 posts (The Christmas Place) = 10.3 posts per day.
2007 = 1,957 posts (My Merry Christmas, where the thread was not launched until July) = 12.1 posts per day.
2008 = 5,103 posts = 13.9 posts per day.
2009 = 8,231 posts = 22.6 posts per day.
2010 = 16,226 posts = 44.5 posts per day.
2011 = 31,091 posts = 85.2 posts per day.
2012 = 39,183 posts = 107.1 posts per day.
2013 = 59,747 posts = 163.7 posts per day!
2014 = 63,096 posts = 172.9 posts per day!!
(The growth of interest and participation in this thread continues to amaze me year after year. There seems to be no limit. A per-day post increase EVERY year since the beginning!)


And now here we are ready to go again, at the start of 2015.


A word of explanation. We are running a dual countdown in this thread - one for Christmas Day and one for the start of the Christmas Season (November 13).
There seems to be general agreement that we look forward to the entire Christmas Season rather than just to Christmas Day.
But why November 13?
Well, it just seems about the right time to regard the season as arriving. That date is exactly 6 weeks before Christmas Day and is about the time the country at large is beginning to really get into the holiday spirit. Most of the stores have decorated. And starting the season then gives us exactly 50 days (Nov 13 through Jan 1) to enjoy being "within" the season, giving it a depth that is lacking with just the Christmas Day count by itself.

We also enjoy noting special "milestones" along the way (see the chart below).

And there is one date you CERTAINLY don't want to miss! Many of us gather here on the evening of November 12 for our annual hour by hour and then minute by minute countdown to the start of the Season at midnight Eastern Time. It's something we really look forward to and is truly great fun!

Looking forward to a GREAT day today--FINALLY am not traveling anywhere for the weekend...which really means the summer is drawing to a close for me. Summer is always filled with so many different plans and so much travel, so many schedules to juggle...it can feel exhausting. I'm really looking forward to having this afternoon and all weekend off!! Lots of cleaning and organizing to be done around the house, but that's glorious compared to travel right now!! Perhaps a little Christmas music or movie marathon is in order while I do that!

Good early evening, everyone!

I could not miss this one... Double digits on the count? We've reached it! Thanks to DoYouHear for leading us into 99 Days to the Christmas Season! Wow. The weather here feels like we're even closer than 99 days, too. We're in the mid to low 20s (70s) in Ottawa with a nice breeze. The forecast doesn't call for much above 30c/85f in the near future. We're not even a week into August. I hope that the summer weather hasn't past us by already!

Kim and I are meeting her sister's family (husband and nephews) for dinner tonight. It's hear brother-in-law's (brother's-in-law) birthday today. They are in town for a football camp. It should be a good time.

Well, there isn't a whole lot happening here. I guess I should start getting ready soon. I'm quite hungry! Hopefully I can hold off for an hour.

Thank you! I DID get my li'l picnic lunch. And it was lovely! I really hated putting my shoes back on and going back inside. The afternoon was pretty crazy. Next week looks like it's going to be even crazier. The two-day annual offsite meeting was scheduled for next week, but so many people were too busy to go that it has to be rescheduled. That's the first time that has even happened at our agency. But lots of business is a GOOD thing. Agencies that lose clients have layoffs ...
