Yes it's that time of the year isn't it? How have your winters been there the last few years? I'm always curious about weather around the world.

Our winters have been unpredictable. It depends on your location. I up north and our winters have been mild with no snow. We have had cold snaps usually in Jan-Feb where we have spells of very cold. They have also been rather wet. The last snowy winter for us was about 5yrs ago. We are always nervous about what to expect because in england they can never predict the weather right!!!

We are a cold country though especially up north. Our summers are around your autumn temps.

You're in NY right? you all have had some rough winters. Was it last year the polar vortex or might be year before?

Yeah these weather experts are pretty good but when it comes to long-range forecasting they are wrong more often than right. I never believe those almanacs and such.
The polar vortex became a curse word the last 2 years in the northeast of the USA. We had it for 2 winters in a row. We actually had a VERY mild winter in late Dec 2011 through early 2012. The last 2 winters were pretty brutal. 2 winters ago the snow was the worse (although it was cold too) but last winter it was actually the brutal cold more than the snow (although we had enough snow still). It was one of the coldest winters in over 150 years of records kept in this area. They're saying it's not going to be nearly as bad this winter...and it shouldn't be because what's the odds of 3 bad ones in a row? But I still won't believe it till it happens.

Yeah I felt sorry for you guys. We got the news coverage about your cold temps and ofcourse people on here were talking about it too. I hope you guys get a break this year. It's alot to cope with those kinds of temps!!

LOL AMD! Happy Anniversary! Happy Thanksgiving!! Have a great weekend!

Thanks for that and the soup recipe; it carried me through the week - it was delicious.

I happened upon SEARS and saw signs for the Canadian Black Friday - just my luck, the work out shoes I bought were not on sale. Had the young saleslady laughing at my half-sprints around the display shelves. I smiled at every glimpse of Christmas - almost bought a winter scene top, but it was too big and so were the other tops and pants I picked out to try on and then I was too tired to go back and look for smaller sizes. I had to buy a belt to keep my pants up. I guess this new work out routine I've designed for myself is working. I left the shoes at the cash so I could have my hands free for browsing and one of the cashiers I'm used to seeing now and then passed by and I said, "I'm looking at items that aren't on my shopping list, I may have to borrow a pen." She laughed. When I cheked out, she said, "Thanks for coming in, it's always so good to see you." I don't know her at all, but I'm the way I am everywhere I go so I usually wind up putting a smile on someone's face. They had Christmas fruitcake on the shelves and some ugly Christmas sweaters.

My husband isn't sick of me yet, but we're watching the Jays game and he's cursing the screen so I'm sneaking on here to catch up a bit. He's ooking dinner tonight (chicken and sweet potatoes) and later I'm making pumpkin spiced fudge for the family gathering.

Good morning everyone, Happy Friday.
My husband and I were up all night again with Maggie. We're bringing her in to see the specialist this afternoon. We had her there recently and the doctor increased her cough suppressant but it still isn't helping. We'll see what the next step is.
Not too much going on this morning. I just straightened up the house and now I'm working on laundry. I'm going to head out soon to pick up a prescription at Rite Aid. I also need to work on a menu plan and grocery list. I borrowed some cookbooks from the library the other day, I'm going to flip through them and choose a couple of new recipes for next week. That's about it for me. I am beyond exhausted, not sure if I'll workout today. We'll see.
I hope everyone is well and has a nice day.

It's so hard to watch our pets suffering, sure hope Maggie's health improves so she can feel healthy again and you can stop worrying. We're so please for O'Malley that he's healthy, but he has lost a bit of his spunk so the other night I set up the easy step at the foot of the bed in the spare room so he didn't have to leap so high to get up there.
