I didn't realize those were movies that take place during Christmas. I'll have to check them out. I haven't even seen Die Hard which I also see on a lot of Christmas movie lists.

Another suggestion I have for you is Paul Blart: Mall Cop. It takes place during the Thanksgiving weekend and the main events occur inside a mall that is fully decorated for Christmas and has Christmas music playing. It's a good fun clean comedy and is definitely not a "holiday" movie in that traditional sense.

Also a lot of Christmas themed horror movies are fun to watch during the Christmas off season and especially during September and October when it's Halloween season but you might want a little bit of Christmas thrown in there.
My favorite off-season, holiday-flavored film is "Shop Around the Corner."

One more day off before returning to work. I'm torn between being indulging in a few last hours of relaxation or getting something useful done. I'll probably split the difference. Sort of dreading the return to the everyday routine, but it paves the way to enjoying the season when it comes around again---it's all ahead to look forward to.

Good Morning, MMC!!! Its going to be a warm but rainy day here. Looking at the forecast for the rest of the week though, I'll take it. Nothing to much going on here today. Just going to watch the rose parade and wait for news that the colts have cleaned house hopefully. I hope everyone has a great day!!!

Good Morning, Friends.
And thus we return to standard Countdowning for another year!

Days to the Season: 315
Days to Christmas Day: 357

And right off the bat we are greeted with a small shock.
Can we really be just a day over TWO WEEKS away from our first Milestone of the 2017 Countdown? That marker being the 300 DAY SEASON Milestone.
Yes! The chart says so.
(And it you read it in the chart it's so, Virginia.)
The explanation, of course, is the fact that the Season count has been silently running since November 13. One of its perks!

Well, 2017 started out wet and it rained just about all day yesterday.
Fortunately, it was not overly cold.
Today has started off with rain continuing unabated, and a temperature reading of 51 degrees here in Raleigh, still the capital city of the great state of North Carolina, home of the Carolina Panthers who......hopefully......will have a better season this year.

Have a Marvelous Monday, Folks.
And a Stupendous Start to the first week of 2017!

Not that my vote counts but I'd go with a few hours of relaxation! And you're right it's all ahead of us to look forward to again which is half of the fun here at MMC!

I wanted the Jets to clean house and they kept everyone lol. Oh well...hopefully they improve next year. You guys have the QB at least...just the rest of the team needs improvement.

Thanks Crown! Already in early January looking forward to the 1st of many milestones to come!

What I should do before winter weather clamps down is take the ornaments off the hedge. I must have been crazy...I wired a couple dozen plastic ornaments onto it right after Thanksgiving with twist-ties. It looks nice, but it'll be a chore removing them!

Good morning everyone!

Well today is the last day of Christmas break. Tomorrow is back to school for the whole family. At least we start back on a short week. Also, at the high school, we have an exam day on Friday. We had an exam day cancelled because of ice before Christmas break so we have to make it up. For me, a teacher, exam days are really easy. We have periods 2,4,6 plus lunch in there. Each class is an hour and a half and the day ends with a make-up exam period. Well, I do not have a 6th period class, it is my conference period. So, all I have to do is sit and watch students take a test and do some grading.

As for today, I need to do a little lesson planning for this week and next week, which is the end of the 1st semester. We need to do weekly grocery shopping. And of course, I need to relax.

Everyone have a great day!

When we put things up we have fun and don't think about what it will take to get them down :).

If the colts want to sale tickets for next year, they better do something.

Luck is going to get killed if they don't get him an offense line. I'm surprised he hasn't missed more games than he has.

Happy New Year, Christmas friends!

Sorry I couldn't be here at New Year, like I usually am. It seems like I can't stay awake past 11pm anymore. Old man LOL! The four of us grilled pimento cheese-stuffed burgers with tater tots, and made some appetizers I found on Facebook. It was great!

I have the day off, and so do the kids, but Nancy had to go back to work. I have some things to do, but I can't find the motivation. Maybe later.

I hope y'all have a great day...and a great year!!:D
-holidays-

Good morning and Happy New Year! The last day of vacation...I am going to relax and catch up on some laundry. We will take down our decorations next weekend but for now I will enjoy my lights! Have a great day!

With all that went on in my world in 2016, I am, unusually glad that we have entered a new year and am happy to have all things 2016 behind me, alas, including Christmas. My Mom passed away in September. With her, passed traditions and feelings that have accompanied my Christmases for 53 years. New ones will develop and old ones may pop back in but the world is different now. I'm looking forward to Christmas 2017 with a little more excitement because 2016 was somewhat tempered. And so onward I say! 315, I can live with that. My goal is to have a little bit of Christmas in every one of those days! Happy New Year to all!

Jay

Good first Monday of 2017! To the few who still have a day off, lucky you! I'm back at work but obviously, not much going on today. Gives me time to tackle paperwork that I had put aside during the busy Holiday season. Hope everyone will enjoy a great day!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's passing, Jay. You're right; things will be different. They haven't been the same since my dad passed 12 years ago. But, like you said, new things will become important and cherished parts of Christmas. And I look forward to July. I hang lights on the ficus tree in my office and play a Christmas song every day. Just for a taste. ;)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, my friend!:)
