When I was addicted, it was mostly Tom Baker. (Except for fourth-generation VHS bootlegs of Colin Baker smuggled from England.) Still enjoy watching Tom Baker from the era when you could practically see the zippers in the monster costumes, and nearly every alien planet looked like a disused quarry. The BBC didn't give them a very big budget in those days. I have a soft spot for that era. Even knitted a Tom Baker scarf that is now in a Doctor Who time capsule at the University of Texas. Met him once, and can't find the photo despite fine-tooth-combing the house. But I won't forget it.

Good Morning, Friends!

Proceeding rapidly now towards the end of January.
And even though February is also a winter month, it just seems easier to take.
Perhaps it's because it's shorter or maybe it's because you know that Spring arrives the following month. Regardless, I always feel a bit "over the hump" once January 31 is behind me.

What else gives me (and likely you, too) a lift?
How about today's numbers and today's Milestone Update?

Days to the Season: 293
Days to Christmas Day: 335

Well, we have but 19 days left to go until we reach the ONE QUARTER marker to Christmas Season 2017.
(That's really hard to believe, isn't it? Until you consider that we started counting back on November 13. Then it all makes perfect sense!)


The nicely warm weather continues but we had a third day of rain yesterday.
Today will be a different story, however, and the warmth will be accompanied by dry conditions. Something to really look forward to!
We are at 44 degrees here right now and for the first time in days, the sun is shining!

It's much cooler today than it has been, in the mid-40's this morning and only going to the mid-60's this afternoon. Brr! LOL

I don't really have much to report today. Still praying for @Festive Spirit and @Christmas-A-Holic. And I hope to see @snowflake22 back here soon!

Good afternoon ~
Just wanted to say hello and Happy Monday!
Hope everyone's having a nice day so far. I'm just having a cup of coffee and relaxing for a few minutes. I have a pot of Italian Wedding Soup simmering on the stove and I'm working on the laundry. We're starting to feel the effects of the nor'easter. It's supposed to bring high winds, heavy rain and possible flooding here on the island. Unfortunately, I have to head out in a little bit. My oldest has a doctor appointment because she isn't feeling well. She was just sick recently and took a round of antibiotics, not sure why she's still unwell. We'll see what the doctor says. Hopefully we'll be back home before the heavy rain starts. I'm already dreading having to bring little Maggie out to potty in the storm. Hope it passes quickly. I'll probably pop back in later this evening. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the day!

Greetings HMG. Hope you were able to weather the storm okay. Sorry to hear about your daughter's illness, I pray they find out the cause and (with God's help) are getting her back to tip top shape. I have a small dog that always presents a problem when the weather turns (like it will today). He doesn't like have to wade through the snow and really despises the rain.

I have very few audiobooks ... and four of them are unabridged readings of "A Christmas Carol"! We have scads of old-time radio, though.

Doing exceptional, thanks for asking. I have some old time radio on cassette to include Gunsmoke (with William Conrad as Matt Dillon), the Lone Ranger, War of the Worlds (original broadcast), Sherlock Holmes and Abbot & Costello to name a few.
I especially love the commercials... did you know that... "More Doctors smoke Camel than any other brand of cigarette?"

Hello all.

Today was a busy Monday. School of course, but then I had a meeting after that. The meeting went later than expected, but it is ok. The meeting was regarding some new opportunities for me in terms of teaching. Ohio allows high school students to take college courses for college and high school credit. While this program has been around for a long time, it recently changed to allow high school teachers who meet criteria set up by universities to teach the college level courses in the high school itself. My meeting tonight was with a local university to set up these classes. So, I will be able to offer my government, US History, Sociology and World Religions classes for college credit. There is of course some additional work on my end, but it is a great opportunity for my students next year and moving forward.

Nothing like reaching out to some young minds eager to learn. I hope it all goes well on your end and that the workload does not become overwhelming.

Looking at a stormy overnight tonight, been hearing the sleet hitting the windows for a few hours now. It was a long day today, I am really tired, I have inventory tomorrow, so I get to sleep in, but I work late.

Good morning... today is my first day (or actually night) back to work. Got up early to get a few things done, so I can get some sleep during the day. I will wake myself up a little earlier than usual due to the coming snow. I'm sure that some shoveling will be required.

Morning! We had a lot of rain last night but if the temperature was 5 degrees colder we'd be digging out from probably 18 inches of snow. I'll take the rain instead and wind. But today we will see a little more rain but not as bad as last night. Wednesday/Thursday look to be beautiful days for late January before a more normal chill hits in for the weekend. Not sure if anyone realizes but...1 month ago was Christmas Eve...11 to go. That amazes me because this will probably seem like the "longest month" and yet it went by so fast. Have a great Tuesday!

Morning Edge. We are getting ready for our storm. Snow will be hitting our area shortly and suppose to last until the wee hours tomorrow. Here they are calling for 6"-10". But I can't complain too much as these last few days have been in the upper 30's to low 40's and got a lot of it out of the way.
Oh, and when you get into your 50's and beyond... everything seems to go by fast... lol

Oh, I have a few stories to tell!

I sure wish I could find that lost photo, and the note he mailed to me. We weren't allowed to ask for autographs at the convention, so I slipped him a letter with my address and my friend's. He wrote me a short handwritten note, and sent my friend a postcard. That note is with the photo, wherever that's got to---lost somewhere in the house.

Morning all!! We got a inch of sleet overnight and now have 2 inches of heavy snow on top of it. Looks to be a nasty day outside and from texts..the plow trucks are just now getting out....

Snowflake is busier than ever. They had another employee that had to take a couple months off and thery still haven't replaced all the people they lost last fall.

Good Tuesday morning! Freezing rain and snow on the menu today. I'm working the afternoon/evening shift, not looking forward to going out. Seems I caught my husband's cold. His lasted only 4 days, hope it will be the same for me. Have a great day everyone!

Stay safe in the snow and ice, everyone. We're just getting rain mixed with snow here, plus wind. We got about an inch of wet snow last night along with the rain, so it's really sloppy out there today, but more wet than slippery, at least where we are. Farther west they got and are getting more snow and ice.

I have one old cassette that's nothing but old-time radio commercials. Bet you'd love it! It's also funny how certain programs, like "Fibber McGee and Molly" and Jack Benny's program, would work the commercials into the script.

True, I guess they did not have too many station breaks back then. Now you get a one hour TV show that actually only runs 40-42 minutes for all the commercial breaks.
