Christmas Countdown - 2017

Morning MMC! We're in Mid-October now and it's still mild. The local weather guy said we have another week after this to go for temps warming up again and then Autumn hits us and stays. I guess it's just arriving late this year. Anyway, we have some showers this morning. I've got to do some errands per usual on Saturday but this weekend is a 3 day one for me and less busy than next weekend will be. Have a great Saturday!

Days to the Season: 30 (LESS THAN A MONTH TO GO!)
Days to Christmas Day: 72 (Ten weeks from the day after tomorrow!)

The weather just keeps getting better as the humidity declines, the temps get cooler and the rain stays away.
Should be a pretty nice weekend, albeit a bit warmer, and it has commenced here in the middle of NC at 64 degrees.


Have a Sensational Saturday and a Wondrous Weekend too, Folks!

So, I’m at my step-sons Jr Bowling and I’ve seen this guy here with full beard and dressed in red before today. In talking with one of the coordinators of Jr Bowling, I find out he really does play Santa (he was watching his grandson bowl.) We’ve been looking for a new Santa for our Christmas Eve party at my sister’s because the person we have now is getting up there in age and is having trouble navigating stairs. So I approached him today and told him my story and he gave me the bottom card. Then I told him about being a Christmas and Santa fanatic and then he hands me the top card. This guy is great!
 
Morning all. Well, posters have been delivered and today, after my night shift I decided to bake a couple of loaves of pumpkin bread. That having been accomplished and sampling a few slices to confirm it is good enough for the family, I am getting ready to call it a day. One more night shift and then my "weekend" kicks in. I am hoping the weather cooperates for tomorrow and I can get in one more mowing for the backyard. I am also taking my better half to the big screen, 30th Anniversary showing of The Princess Bride. It is one of her all-time favorites (of course she probably has about 100 of those) and is only at the theaters for a special screening. Nothing else huge going on here. I hope everyone has a fun-filled weekend...

Hello, everyone ... what's your weekend looking like?

Enough of my cold is hanging on to make me feel run-down and tired. I hope I can kick that off this weekend.

Hard to believe that we're so close to Halloween ... and after that my music playlists go 100% Christmas. I'd rather that things started to slow down a little bit about now! There's so much to do before the holidays, and being run-down makes it harder to get them done.

Found a "Big Box of Ragtime" MP3 album on Amazon last night---over 50 tracks for 99 cents. I've been enjoying them while I did the household bookkeeping this morning. They're laid-back, but a bit bouncy, and it's a nice combination.

Well, time to wash out the tea mug and see what else needs to be done today.
 
I'm so far behind. I need to get back to my normal schedule so I can get back in the groove.


I've been hanging out in southern Indiana the last couple of days. The trees haven't reached peak colors yet but they are getting there. The shops in Nashville did have some Christmas out though!! So that made the trip worth it.

Arrived back home from our 3 day hike this evening. Had a great time. It was hot but loved hiking, fishing, and camping in the GMS national park. The wilderness section of the park is awesome. Bear, deer, turkey, grouse, eagle all around you. Dinners were great with trout caught earlier that day cooked on an open fire. Sleeping in a hammock on the side of Hazel creek. Loved 3 days with no electronics. Now back to the real world...

Good Sunday morning! Yesterday I slept in until 7am (for me that's sleeping in), but no such luck today. It's rainy but warm, a day to stay inside and relax. But we have some grocery shopping to do first. My in-laws are coming this afternoon, gotta pick-up some sweets to have with tea. Hope everyone will enjoy a great day!
