I always get excited about the tree that Nova Scotia sends to Boston to thank them for their support after the explosion in 1917. This year marks their 100th anniversary. Here's a link to learn more about the tradition. https://novascotia.ca/treeforboston/
I never lived in Nova Scotia, but my grandparents did so I feel connected.
I didn't know this year was the 100th anniversary---thanks for posting that!

Mr.'s family was in Nova Scotia in the early 20th century (Antigonish). Maybe they knew your grandparents!

To top it off, the across the creek neighbours have the start of their lights up. So far they just have lights on a wooden rail post, but I know the indoor and outdoor lights will appear soon. I will once again drop a Christmas card into their mailbox. I often wonder if they receive it well or if they worry about the person who is "watching them". I'm not really watching them, just appreciating their decorations. These days you never know how people react because their are so many wackos in the world. I'm guessing they appreciate the gesture.
It's sad that in these times, one sometimes has to choose between reaching out to strangers in kindness or safeguarding oneself. And, as you pointed out, when you do reach out in kindness, it may be met with suspicion. And you can't blame them for being cautious.

Good morning MMC ~
Happy Saturday!
It’s going to be partly sunny with a high of 57, we’re currently at 46 degrees. Much cooler than yesterday.
I’m heading out soon to do some food shopping. I’ll be working on some chores around the house afterward. Then I’ll be heading back out this afternoon, I’m looking for a rotating Christmas tree stand. I hope I find what I’m looking for so I can put my Hallmark tree up tomorrow. That’s about it for me.
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!!!

Mmmm ... I was sipping a mug of tea when I saw this!

Good luck in your search---I hope you find what you want.

Me too. I seriously have to start knocking some items off my pre-Christmas to-do list.
It's amazing how fast it's coming isn't it? We say that every year but for some reason this year just seems faster. I feel like we just were in September and October was a total blur. Now we're flying towards Thanksgiving. Hope you have a good weekend Merry!

Morning everyone!! Its starting to look like Christmas!! The day dawned on the cool side today. Looks like the cold hits us this week and hopefully a few flakes.

We had some light flurries today while I was out and about running errands. The city folk can blame it on me since I was listening to Christmas tunes while I was driving. Dean Martin's Marshmallow World was more exciting than usual.

Me too. I seriously have to start knocking some items off my pre-Christmas to-do list.

I found a few extra Christmas items today for my grandsons girlfriends. Printed off over 100 photos for my cards and found the blank ones I wanted. In Courtney and Megan's cards I'm inserting photos of my grandsons in the "cool phase" of early teen days before they knew each other. Better than diaper or tub time shots. HaHa
Got my flu shot and picked up new moist cat treats for my fur-boy.
Off to visit my folks tomorrow I haven't seen them since we left in mid-October for my husband's eye surgery (went well and he's seeing much better now).
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thanks for all the good info! I forgot that they usually broadcast the tree-lighting. And last year, the website you linked to had videos and photos of the tree en route to Boston!

Hello all!
I see several others here have started the the decorating process. We started last night. We have all of the living room decorations up except for my village. We have one tree up, but not decorated. That will happen tonight.
We still need to get the Christmas dishes out too.

The outside decor will probably go up next weekend. That is an all day job!
This year we are going to put blowmold santa, sleigh, and 4 reindeer on the roof.

With that, does anyone have suggestions on the best way to anchor blowmolds to the roof?
I have some ideas, but I am open to suggestions, and info from folks who have done it.

If the rain holds out tomorrow morning, we will go and pick out our real tree. We will not cut it down until Thanksgiving weekend though.

Everyone have fun decorating and enjoying the start of the Christmas season!

Good morning MMC ~
Merry Sunday!
I’m just having a cup of coffee and relaxing for a few minutes. I’m about throw a quiche in to the oven and make a loaf of pumpkin bread as well, we’re heading to my parents house for breakfast. Back home afterward to decorate my Hallmark tree!
I hope everyone is well and has a beautiful day!!!

Morning MMC! Hope you all Fall Back today if necessary. We gain an hour. I'm not sure what I am doing with it though. Just going to go to the mall and a few errands. Trying to relax some. Next Sunday we're going to my Uncle's so that's more of a busy Sunday. Have a great day!

Good Sunday morning! Rain and more rain today and tomorrow. We have some grocery shopping to do and then, I think we'll either watch some movies or binge watch a show. I got excited yesterday looking online at Canadian Tire and Ikea's websites, where they have added their Christmas sections. I'm waiting until next weekend to go into those stores and others, to do our annual tour of Christmas displays. I also made a list of dates for Christmas markets and events in our area. Nothing starting until very late this month or in December though. Have a fantastic day everyone!
