Christmas Countdown - 2018

Well my Christmas lights came down for the season today. I say the season, not the year because of course they will return for their next season later here in 2018. They begin the year and then end that same calendar year later on so that's kind of a nice thought. Last single digit day of January today on the 9th for whatever that's worth!

On Monday evening we had a dozen homes in the immediate neighborhood with their Christmas lights on(Yes, we were among the merry). The spirit came to life before U.S. Thanksgiving and gave one final huzzah for the season two days after Epiphany. It doesn't get any better than that.

Good afternoon everyone! We are supposed to get rain tomorrow in the 50's which will wash away all our snow and then a potential big storm Friday night into Saturday. But you never know around here! I hope we get it though; It is January, I want snow!! Just finishing taking down the decorations today. Today for dinner we are making beef short ribs braised in red wine and mashed potatoes. Should have the house smelling great! Everyone have a great day!

Update: My dentist sent me right to the endodontist, who went ahead and did the pulpotomy. She couldn't get it 100% numb because the nerve was so inflamed, but it was tolerable (just achy). Unfortunately, the achiness and tenderness will hang on for a few days while it heals. I was needed at work this afternoon, so here I am. I took three Advil per instructions, but it still hurts. Oh, well, I'll live! Would have been worse pain than that if I had waited.

Good evening,
I have come down with something last night, I have been feverish and feeling just blah. I called out this morning, hoping to go back tomorrow but still not feeling well.
My decorations are still going strong, I usually shut off my outdoor display on January 8 for the season, but I am going to keep them up a little longer since I didn't even set them up until almost mid-December. My trees are up and on, and I am still listening to Christmas music.
I am not ready to end the Christmas season just yet.

Good morning All!
Like many of you, we de-Christmased the inside of our house this weekend, its always a bummer. The house always looks so plain and cold when they are put away. Thankfully the outside decorations are pretty well frozen in place, so at least I have that! Also, Santa brought me a new scroll saw for Christmas...so working on handmade Christmas ornaments/decorations throughout the year seems like a good way to keep the year rolling along with Christmas spirit! Hope all is well with all you elves.

Good evening,

Another day home sick today, I have my usual day off tomorrow so at least I won't have to call out. I did have to run to the grocery store to get some cat food, my little guy Quinn was yelling at me with his pipsqueek voice, he is over 1.5 years old and still has a kitten cry. He doesn't like wet food and he made sure I knew it, he is our one of a kind cat. He has no fear, the vacuum doesn't scare him, he likes to go for rides in the car, my youngest doesn't scare him, he just stands his ground. He is so fun to watch because nothing bothers him.

Hope you are feeling better today! I still have a nasty headache. So much for the 24 hour flu & being done!! I'm not sure if my headache is from the flu or the crazy changing weather!! When my hubby had it, he had off & on "moments" for almost a week. UGH! Hope it doesn't last that long for either one of us!

Morning MMC! Work continues to be busy which is good. 40+ degrees felt like summer yesterday. That's the one plus of having extreme cold is that when it goes back to even close to normal it feels comfortable or warm. I hope you are all well and those of you who are sick feel better. Got some leftovers for tonight that we froze from Christmas Eve. Sometimes heating them up a few weeks later tastes better than when you originally cook them. Have a great Mid-Week Pines Day!

Not too much going on here, typical day of errands and chores. I just fried meatballs and started a pot of sauce, dinner will be baked ziti tonight. My youngest is home today, we’re going to grab Chipotle for lunch. That’s about it.

And as devoted friends of Christmas and its accompanying Season, one must be familiar with their proximity.
That in turn is tracked by reference to our official count, which we again present this morning without any commercial interruption whatsoever.

To whit:
Days to the Season: 307
Days to Christmas Day: 349

And finally, to be a good steward of our holiday of choice, more than a passing knowledge of the next pending Milestone marker is an absolute necessity.
Therefore, let it be known this morning that as far as the 300-Day Season Milestone is concerned, we are a scant SEVEN days away from it as of this date.
(So much for our MMC civics lesson for the morning.)


Now as to the weather, we were blessed yesterday with a welcome respite from the frigid temperatures that had become all to entrenched here recently.
In fact, we hit a high of 63, about 8 degrees higher than had been predicted!
It is supposed to cool off a bit today, then return to the 60's again for tomorrow and Friday.
For now, we are beginning this center day of the week at 44 degrees, here.

Well, the Christmas decorations are down but the quality of entertainment is not.
Show up this evening and experience it, accompanied by a toasty warm fired twinkie and a tall one of sweet southern iced tea, served with one of those cute little umbrellas.

And while you are thinking eagerly about that, you be sure not to forget to have a Wonderful Wednesday, Everyone!

I'm going home to take a nap after work so I'm sure to NOT miss a night at the Pines!!!

Just usual work for me today and these warmer temps are so nice.
I am making a spiral ham tonight for dinner with roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts.

Sounds delicious! I must be getting hungry again. LOL! Food sounds good but after I eat, it doesn't always sit well. I've been sticking with toast & a bowl of soup here & there. Enjoy your meal!!

Hope you get rid of that flu and all its symptoms soon Holiday. So miss Lucy likes the couch eh? I have to fight Loki for the blanket on the couch, but he's so tiny there's plenty of room.

Yes, Lucy loves the couch. Especially in the morning after coming in from outside. We shared a lot of time on that couch the last 2 days. She can snuggle in pretty good!

Good Wednesday morning! This week seems like it's dragging on and on. I'm just getting things done this morning before work this afternoon/evening. When I get a stubborn headache that I can't get rid of, I resort to Excedrin Migraine, and that usually helps. It takes a while for it to kick in, but it often gets rid of it and keeps it from coming back in a few hours.

As of last night the weather channel was calling for 8-12" of snow for us Friday night. This morning it says 3-5" during the day, 3-5" at night. We probably won't even get an inch. LOL! That's usually how it goes. Rainy today. It's melting all my pretty snow!

Good Wednesday afternoon, Christmas friends!

Another busy day here. The boss visited from his office near Orlando yesterday and today. It's been so hard to get used to Russell not being here, that it was nice for Ron to sit in his office and offer advice & encouragement. He just left for home.

Seafood dinner with Nancy's family tomorrow night!
