Snowfall

I just moved into a housing plan. I've never lived in a neighborhood before, so this is my first year to give away candy. I want to decorate, but I'm also on a very tight budget.

Any suggestions on cheapie decorating (inside and out) ideas? I have a yard with 2 oak trees. And I also have a bay window that I have no idea what to do with. I'm thinking about setting up a candy station under one of the oak trees for the big night. Not sure yet. All suggestions are welcome.

I'm so excited about this Halloween!!:hair:

I'm sure this will be a very fun Halloween for you.

In our neighborhood we are set back some in the sub, so in order to draw more kids down our block where not all the houses would pass out candy, several years we would bring our firepit up front and have a large bonfire and pass our candy out from there. Sometimes we'd put some orange or purple lights on the bushes, but usually just having some lit pumpkins around made it festive enough.

Perhaps for the bay window you could stuff old clothes like a scarecrow and use a cheap mask for the face. Position a spotlight on the window and maybe have some of those fake spiderwebs hanging around.:boo:

If you have a Dollar Tree nearby they have lots of cute stuff there to decorate with.

As for inexpensive outside decorations - you could take some old white sheets and drape them over inflated balloons and hang them from the oak tree branches...

Michael's had a sale last week (or week before) with their scarecrows only around $5. The regular prices aren't much higher than that.

Thanks everyone! I really like all of these ideas. I'm going to go to the dollar tree today. And I'll check out the Pat Catan's in my area. They might have prices that are similar to Michaels.

And I LOVE the idea of a scarecrow! It's so simple, but I never would have thought to stuff old clothes like that.

Again, thanks!!!

I always go to dollar tree for decorations for outside. I don't have room to store them and I don't feel bad throwing them away when I only paid a dollar for them. I hope you find all kinds of cute things.

I went to the Dollar Tree a few days ago. I got a few things to start my decorating. I'm likely going to go to Pat Catan's today, so I may find a few things there too.

In the beginning of November, I'm going to go to the fabric store and hope to find some "outdated" Halloween fabric on sale. I might make a couple of throw pillows for next year.

With the few decorations I have now, I'm really starting to get pumped for October. It's so hard to do, but I'm not decorating until the 1st!! Well, I might give in and decorate on the first day of fall (tomorrow!). We'll see if I can hold out.
