We are pleased to announce that this year's Dickens in Days activity will take place from November 28th to December 16th.

If you've never done this we highly encourage this simple activity as a way to enhance your spirit of the season.

For as familiar as we all are with this story, and how many times we have seen it adapted, there is nothing quite like reading Dickens' original work.

We promise, it's worth it.

We encourage as well those who do follow this schedule to come back and share your insights as you read it - even if you've done it dozens of times.

It's simple. And it is fun.

I'm in.

Easily one of my favorite Christmas movies, our tradition was to watch it late on Christmas Eve. None of this new stuff....it was always one of the old classics.

I just read the first day for a sneak peak. Beautiful writing. Great idea, Jeff.

Although I’ve watched numerous adaptations of it since childhood, believe it or not, I only ever read Dickens’ A Christmas Carol in its entirety for the first time this decade, I think maybe back in 2021 or 2022. I also read the unofficial “prequel” novel, Marley, which was not written by Dickens, and not nearly as enjoyable. So, all of that to say, I’m in. Can’t wait for the 28th!

Over the Labor Day weekend, we laid down and relaxed one afternoon with an unabridged audiobook of A Christmas Carol (read by Geoffrey Palmer) while we dozed on and off. It’s a great way to relax. Palmer’s reading is excellent, but also soothing!

Every Christmas fan should read the original. Dickens’ narrative voice is by turns vivid, humorous, haunting, and exuberant. Years ago I got an annotated version of the book, and it brought some obscure references and sly jokes to light. Despite the Victorian vocabulary, it’s NOT a stuffy book!

I'm totally in! Super excited about finally doing it this year. It is one of my favorite Christmas stories. I have watched the 1984 version with George C. Scott every year since it came out when I was a wee lass.
