I see some familiar faces here ... I don't know if many remember me but I used to be a regular poster over at Christmas.com for quite a while before the old forums were taken down. I posted there as "Snowangel" from the UK. I remember Auntie Mistletoe, Cedarfarm, Crown, Binger and several other names here. I never posted much at the Xmas place. Snowangel
Haha - not only do I remember you, I actually have a quote from a special countdown post at Christmas.com It was from Nov. 11/05 And it was our Day 2 post: I simply must share it.
:hello: Here it is . . .
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas …”
~ So how can we best explain the magic of Christmastime and the festive season that is fast approaching? As a keen cook, I thought perhaps we could try to explain it in terms of a recipe, by mixing together all the ingredients that combine to produce the magic of Christmastime:
Take one red nosed reindeer and add a pinch of chimney dust,
Add a brightly decorated tree and a dash of mulled wine,
Mix in two Christmas shopping trips, a spring in your step and a slight ‘nip in the air’,
Then slowly add a bright shining star, a small manger and three wise men.
Add a generous portion of Charles Dickens, and some brightly wrapped gifts,
Dust a small group of carollers with a light sprinkling of snow,
And combine with several Christmas cards, a sip of eggnog and pinch of nutmeg,
Finally, throw in a large turkey dinner and some cranberry sauce.
Stir slowly until the ingredients combine to make the perfect Christmas and then top with a large sprig of holly.
Serve with a large dollop of Christmas spirit.
For best results share with family and friends.
But, as tempting as this sounds, I still don’t feel that it fully explains the magic that resides at the heart and soul of the Christmas season. I believe that, to all of us here, Christmas is more than simply the sum of its parts – there is a magical, almost un-definable element to Christmas, a sense of ‘going home’ as Crown so eloquently stated. And it’s that same sense of homecoming that I feel throughout the year, where the spirit of the Christmas season resides all year long, in the hearts of the people here."
 It's so great to have you around again! I'm glad you found us.
