Hey guys, Gabe here.

I wanted to share a post I made about Rankin/Bass Christmas specials with other people who love Christmas movies and culture. Most of my friends don't seem to appreciate the topic and I'm looking for people that do! I'd love some feedback from people who care/relate. Here it is: http://gabrielnapoleon.wordpress.com/2012/12/03/top-5-stale-tv-specials/

What are your favorite Rankin/Bass specials?

Crossing my fingers that this isn't flagged as spam... I'm being sincere!!

:-D

Hi Gen,

I think you're sincere, too. But you really think Santa Claus is Comin' to Town is stale?

Jeff

Thanks for the reply, Jeff. Do note that I mean "stale" in the most endearing way possible! The title came from the "12 Pains of Christmas" parody song, and it really is not much more than a title. I feel that the specials are (well, were, at least) thoroughly played, but not overplayed!! Hope that clarifies.

Welcome to MMC, Gabe!

I have to agree with Jeff, though. Theres no way these movies are stale!

Hello GEN, and Welcome to MMC!!!:merry:

Thank you for your post....

The Christmas specials made by Rankin/Bass is by far, some of my favorite things to watch every Christmas. To me, they are a timeless treasure that takes me back into the era that they were made and they help me to rekindle that inner child inside me everytime I watch them.

To put one of their DVD's in and watch it with my family, I find them to be, a welcome refreshing journey into yesterday, away from the modern and sometimes overwhelming electronic world of HD and 3D (nothing against them), it's just a nice, temporary little journey, back into the 60's and 70's, into the world of Rankin/Bass....

Well put! I'd have to agree that they are timeless. Sorry for the confusion folks, I'm not criticizing these specials as stale! Just a silly title

Thanks for the kind welcomes everyone.
