I mean,
I'm such a big kid.
When I was younger, I used to go trick-or-treating
every year and it was fun picking out the costume
and going around the neighborhoods collecting candy..
it wasn't until me and my family became christians and
starting going to church
when we stopped celebrating halloween.
I mean, I understand
that its a pegan holiday and not something God wants
christians to join in.
but I just miss the trick-or-treating part of it...
I wish there was a christian halloween !!

Im Catholic and I celebrate halloween. You are not doing anything bad. Its fun for the kids and adults. I normaly have costume partys since Im older :P

Who says god dosen't want you to celebrate Halloween. It isn't like your paying homage to a golden Calf. When you stand in judgement I'm sure they won't say well we would of let you into heaven, but you went Trick or Treating

I'm Christian and celebrate Halloween. Raised Baptist, now Methodist. Never felt it was a bad thing.

While there are religions that are against it, being a CHRISTIAN does not automatically give you a lifetime ban on halloween.

I believe each person has free will, to be or not be a Christian, to choose which religion, and to choose what to believe. I'm not telling you to go celebrate Halloween, if you have decided it is against what you believe. I was just clarifying that Christianity is a broad range of people and beliefs, some participate in things that others are against.

Halloween isn't pagan it's (traditions) are based on pagan holidays just like Christmas and Easter.

P.S if you want a Christian Halloween call it All Hallow's Eve and All Saint's Day. Those are the Christian names for it.

Balderdash. God doesn't forbid the celebration of Halloween and there isn't a religious text out there that condemns it. I'm guessing there are some rather small-minded sects out there who would much rather take the MONEY you would spend on Halloween and give it to THEM rather than having good clean fun with costumes, decorations and fun with the kids. God may dictate the limits of decent behavior but I don't think he had abolishing holidays & harmless traditions in mind when he admonished us to "love one another".

I feel for you. I enjoy Halloween and don't look at it any other way than having fun. Here where I live at 3pm (before dark) my community has what they call a Spook Parade. All the kids come dressed up and we all meet at the civic center. Everyone forms a long line and all the kids (3rd grade and under) get to trick or treat all our local businesses on Main Street. All the owners/employees stand out in front of their businesses as each child trick or treats them. It's a blast and allot of fun. Especially for the little ones who can't make it until it's dark or it's to cold out once the sun goes down.
I forgot to mention our local grocery store last year gave out those huge hershey bars and strawberry milk or chocolate. One thing they did add to the candy bars were 2 golden tickets for a $50.00 toy shopping spree at their store. And my daughter got one. She was so excited and so was I!

I am Christian and have always celebrated Halloween. There is nothing wrong with dressing up and collecting candy. This year I am going to dress up as Mrs. Claus. I also go to work dressed up, I love the response that I get.

I'm so sorry that you feel like you can't celebrate something that you miss. I understand that your particular church may discourage you from celebrating Halloween but is there anything you can do to fill the void?

I know a lot of churches that discourage the celebration of Halloween but they don't have a problem with a Harvest party celebrated on the same night. Would that be an option for you? It would allow you to enjoy some of the things that you enjoyed about Halloween without actually violating your church's beliefs.

Having said all of that, Halloween really isn't just a Pagan holiday...it has evolved over the years from an ancient Celtic festival to what we know today to be Halloween and, honestly, there is a great deal of Christian influence in there as well.

Also, don't forget that the celebration of Christmas can actually be traced in much the same way. Regardless, as a Christian, I don't think that the celebration of any holiday is necessarily bad or a violation of Christian faith.
