Does anyone know if/when "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" is airing? I've been trying to look it up, but haven't been able to find it :(

I just searched the TV Guide listings and it didn't show up for my area either!!!!

They usually air it the week of Halloween. I have it on vhs and have watched it a few times already. It's a must for Halloween!

:-?I haven't seen anything here either, or any other halloween/christmas movies

Yes, they show it the week of Halloween.

This is one of my favorite movies, so I bought it, and my kids have been enjoying it as well. :pumpkin:

Over the weekend I asked our lake neighbors Grandson about watching the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (he's 7)....he had never heard of it!!!!! :o I told him he needed to tell his parents that he wants to watch the Great Pumpkin this year!!!

WHAT!!!!! How is that even possible??? Charlie Brown is a classic!

I just looked at the tv schedule and it looks like they are showing it Tuesday and Wednesday.

Minta,

I think what you're seeing is part of an overall pop culture breakdown. There are so many media channels, no show has the kind of presence or pulling power it did back in the day. Some of the classics just air quietly, or slip through the cracks.

I remember when Great Pumpkin and Charlie Brown Christmas were events. You had to be home to see them, because you only got one shot, annually. Now, if you miss something, you can use Tivo, find it online, or buy it on DVD. It's no longer quite so special. Not so much an event, for most kids.

That said, you just introduced a kid to a classic. How cool (and rare) is that?!? Awesome!

Finally, my birthday was September 30. My gift to myself: I popped in my Great Pumpkin DVD and watched it with the kids...

Jimmy... You are right....when we were kids all the specials like Charlie Brown and Rudolph were only shown once a year and if you missed it then you had to wait a whole another year. We do have them on DVD and our kids love watching them over and voer again.

Bumping this:

According to TVGuide.com: It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will be airing:
Tuesday, October 27th AND Wednesday, October 28th at 8:00 PM on ABC.

"It all came about," Schulz recalls, "when I was trying to write a sequence for the strip involving Linus' confusion between Halloween and Christmas...
"... Linus is a youngster to whom everything must have significance; nothing is unimportant. Christmas is a big holiday and it has Santa Claus as one of its symbols. Halloween is also a special kind of day so it ought to have some sort of Santa Claus, too. That's what bothered Linus. And it bothered me. So, between us, we came up with The Great Pumpkin."

Watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" is a tradition, and it is on again tomorrow night on YTV here in Canada

Just watched this last night such a great classic. I Tivo'd it for my grandson to see when he comes over tonight.
