The great pumpkin shortage of 2009 is over. Producers say that pumpkin is already in the pipeline for 2010 and that levels will be greater than the weak supply of 2009. Last year, growers suffered from a cold, wet summer — especially in the American north east — that kept production low. As the year [...]

My daughter will be THRILLED. She wanted to me bake a pumpkin pie over the summer and I could not as I could not find any canned oumpkin anywheres. I will be sure to stock up on extras this year.

My wife had the assignment to make pumpkin bread for my parents 50th wedding anniversary, an event with a couple of hundred people in attendance. We drove more than 40 miles trying to round up some pumpkin. Normally she makes things from real, not canned, pumpkin but it was too early for those and she needed canned. We were shocked at how hard it was to find it!

Thats weird.. I just read yesterday that there was a shortage? And one gal payed $9 for one can of pumpkin.

My experience has been that in the last few years; there didn't seem to be a lot of canned pumpkin at the grocery stores, even during the season. Wonder now since it's over if there will be more available overall.

I haven't been able to find canned pumpkin around here lately so I hope it is over.

I honestly thought I was losing my mind! I have tried to find canned pumpkin repeatedly with no luck!!!

I read there's a shortage this year, too, Jana... I really hope that's not so because I am dying for some pumpkin bread!!!

I also heard that the news reported another shortage. I've already bought 2 large cans at the same small local store where I bought pumpkin last year. Bottom line is if you see it now, buy it. I plan to buy more this week. By the way there was only one brand on the shelf when I bought it and thank goodness it was the best brand, Libby's.

Yummy, looking forward to making those pumpkin pies.

Have you checked your local Acme? The one in my area just starting stocking the shelves with canned pumpkin last week so when I get paid next week I am going to go buy some. My daughter has been wanting my homemade pumpkin pie for months now I will make her one for her birthday next week!

I just bought a can of Libby pumpkin at Walmart. They weren't stocked full, but they did have a few cans. I'm going to make pumpkin bread, all this talk of pumpkin has made me hungry for it!

What shortage? I live here in South FL at my local farm stand the place is over flowing with great big beautfiul pumpkins! I got two to use as holiday decorations.

I just saw some pumpkins for sale today at a local produce place, but other than that, nowhere else.
