Turkey Confidential is The Splendid Table’s annual Thanksgiving show. Francis Lam takes calls and comes to the rescue of Thanksgiving cooks, kitchen helpers, and dinner guests during the biggest cooking day of the year.

Guests include chef Kristen Kish, Top Chef’s newest judge, Michigan chef and award-winning writer Abra Berens author of "Pulp, A Practical Guide to Cooking with Fruit," Jocelyn Delk Adams of Grandbaby Cakes, and Dan Pelosi aka “GrossyPelosi” the exuberant author of "Let’s Eat, 101 Recipes to Fill Your Heart and Home."

VCY Radio Thanksgiving Specials​

VCY America will be airing two Thanksgiving specials, both of which were produced from Moody Broadcasting. A station must be authorized to air programs from MBN to air these specials. They will air as follows:

“The Crossing: A Cabin Boy’s Journal” – A dramatic portrayal providing a
fresh re-telling of the Pilgrim story. It’s the story of Patrick Blythe,
an orphaned 14-year-old who takes the job of cabin boy on the Mayflower.
Like most of the crew, Patrick is irreligious and derisive toward the
pilgrims. During the Atlantic crossing, Patrick becomes ill and passengers
like William and Mary Brewster minister to him, impressing him with their
kindness. Patrick find himself pulled in two directions: toward the God
of the pilgrims and toward the relative safety of his coarse companions.
Discover the emotions that a young cabin boy faced on his journey to the
new world on the Mayflower.
–Airs Saturday, November 18th at 3pm & Sunday, November 19th at 5pm. (Central time)

“Remembering Pilgrims” – This special takes listeners on location to
Plymouth, Mass. Unique stereo recordings capture the sounds of the water
where Pilgrims first landed, the creaks and groans of the Mayflower II. It
includes interviews, authentic hymns from the era and dramatic vignettes
which all paint a picture of American history that is profoundly moving and
distinctively Christian.

We are starting the holiday season with special programs on Wednesday, November 22nd.

Wednesday evening it’s Turkey Confidential - The Splendid Table’s annual Thanksgiving show. Francis Lam takes calls and comes to the rescue of Thanksgiving cooks, kitchen helpers, and inner guests during the biggest cooking day of the year. We will have this initial broadcast at 7pm with a repeat on Thanksgiving morning at 9am.

Wednesday night at 9pm it’s Every Good Thing. Host Andrea Blain and classical music fans from all around the country take some time to give thanks and celebrate one of life's most meaningful gifts: music. It's "Every Good Thing" — an hour of stories and music to celebrate Thanksgiving.

In addition to the encore broadcast of Turkey Confidential on Thanksgiving Day (9am) tune in for Giving Thanks at 11am. This program sounds the way Thanksgiving feels: inviting, warm, and festive. Massaoit's Peace Pact with the Pilgrims
Massasoit was the leader of the Wampanoag Confederacy when English settlers landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620. He and his people kept the Pilgrims from starving in the early years of their settlement, attended the first Thanksgiving, and forged a peace treaty with the English that lasted 40 years until his death. We'll talk with American Indian scholars Darius Coombs and Bob Charlesbois, who'll fill in the details of this Native American leader's attempt to make peace for his people and with the new strangers. Also, Native American film director Chris Eyre on his portrayal of Massasoit for the 2009 PBS television series We Shall Remain.
