Famed British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has been tapped to voice the Grinch in an animated remake of Dr. Seuss’ classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas, set to be released later next year. The month of April is the most anti-Christmas month of the year. There is less Christmas cheer now than at any other point on the calendar. We know. We’ve been doing Christmas year round for a quarter of a century now. We know when people are thinking Christmas and it ain’t happening much in April. […]
Earl Hamner Jr. passed away this week at the age of 92 and the world hardly noticed. Hamner was a prolific writer whose contributions were more noted on television than anywhere else. While he is no Dickens his Christmas story titled The Homecoming was more than just a TV movie that launched a successful, long-running […]
Another brilliant Hollywood Christmas movie idea: have Santa and Mrs. Claus break up. Santa is universally recognized, perpetually jolly, well fed, and immensely popular. Other men look on Santa with envy. He is the ultimate man’s man. He works with […]
Last year we openly mourned the lack of decent Christmas movies being made. It has been well over a decade since Elf, for Pete’s sake. Hollywood has suffered a drought of original Christmas ideas and every season seems to bring yet another version of a twisted-family-Christmas (Love the Coopers). But if there is anything we […]
Today marks 322 days until Christmas leaving just 45 weeks until the big day. It is also the 204th birthday of Charles Dickens, who was born on this day in 1812. The name of Charles Dickens can hardly be said these days without thinking of Christmas. While his career spanned decades with volumes of legendary […]
