Kenny Rogers to Release His 6th Christmas Album

Kenny Rogers plans to release his first Christmas album in 17 years this fall. Titled Once Again It’s Christmas the album shares traditional fare with new songs produced specially for the project. Rolling Stone provides the details:

Joining Rogers on the holiday project are Alison Krauss, who sang with the Gambler on his Number One single (with Billy Dean) “Buy Me a Rose,” in 1999. Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles, who performed the iconic “Islands in the Stream” duet with Rogers at the 2013 CMA Awards, vocal group Home Free (who make their Grand Ole Opry debut this Friday, July 17th), pianist-songwriter Jim Brickman and sibling duo Winfield’s Locket also appear on the album.

Christmas has been kind to Rogers over the years. His first Christmas LP was released in 1981 and went double platinum. Rogers has for decades toured every holiday season with his “Christmas & Hits Tour”, a tradition he plans to continue this year. His duet with Dolly Parton titled “Once Upon a Christmas” was one of the biggest Christmas hits of Roger’s storied career:
