DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 364

**DANGER, LONG READ***

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Our 2027 Halloween Countdown thread is now up and running! You can see from the above that the main countdown is up and live!

I started doing a Halloween Thread here in MMC in 2021, to compliment Edge's outstanding other group of threads that I feel really compliment the MMC experience. For the most part, we have experienced slow and steady growth over the past few years, although interestingly in 2026 we had a major drop off in posting. I still have to remind myself that we are a niche group on the biggest Christmas forum/site in the WORLD. I don't expect to ever see the kind of numbers that the main Christmas countdown gets.

Still though, we seem to have emphasized quality over quantity on this thread, and I really appreciate everyone who contributes. Here's a quick look at the post counts for the past few years:

2021- 1,915
2022- 2,045
2023- 2,182
2024- 1,950
2025 - 1,590
2026 - 1,418

For anyone new to the thread joining us this year, or new to MMC in general, we take counting down VERY seriously. In fact, at times, it seems like counting down might be just as much fun as the actual holiday itself!

And the strategy, which is tried and true, year after year, 365 days a year, is to countdown little chunks at a time, instead of having a giant slog for a countdown. Our main countdowns focus on Autumn and Halloween season. With "Full" Countdowns at the beginning of the new countdown season, we are counting down to these significant times of the year:

Spooky Spring
Halfoween
Fall Preseason
The Bers
Halloween Season
October
Halloween

Also, for any brand new followers to the thread, let me take a moment to plug our special days / times throughout the countdown season:

JACK O LANTERN DAYS:

Beginning in January, at the end of the month, we celebrate "Jack O Lantern Day". I get out the electric Jack O Lantern, burn some fall/ pumpkin wax warmers / candles, and listen to my "Halloween Playlist" that day, before settling in for a mini horror movie marathon to wrap up the day. Some days when the weather cooperates, I even have a small fire in my outside fire pit. This is just my way of adding a little bit of Fall / Halloween to my life, during times in the year where I am really missing Fall. And it really helps. I think some of us here keep the same routine. We do this from January to September before finishing up in "Halloween Season" in September, having safely reached our destination. We originally only did JOL Days on each month that had a 31st, from January - August, but we "expanded" JOL Days due to popular demand.

SPOOKY SPRING:

Folks - Spooky Spring came about organically in 2021, and in 2022 we decided to plan for it and make it an annual tradition. A great addition to our all year long spooky activities. April is essentially the mirror image of October, and Spooky Spring is celebrated the entire month of April. Basically it is October in April. Scary movie marathons, pumpkin spice everything - Halloween decorations. The cool weather really sets the tone for the month and it leads us right into Halfoween, the grand celebration of reaching the half way point to Halloween.

FALL PRESEASON:

Fall Preseason begins on August 1st. It just seems to be the time that Summer merchandise, etc., seems to be going out of the stores and Fall items start showing up. It helps us mentally start to prepare for the arrival of true Autumn in September. My decorating begins the second week in August, and I'm usually decked out for Autumn by the end of that month!

FRIDAY THE 13th:

We will experience two Friday the 13ths in this new countdown thread. It is basically like a Jack O Lantern Day "cheat day", and I usually treat the day as an extra JOL Day and will exclusively watch the Friday the 13th movies! In this new thread, they occur in November, and August.

HALLOWEEN SEASON

The first day of Fall this coming year is Wednesday, September 22nd. The calendar beginning of Fall I think is a fine date to serve as our "official" start to Halloween Season. I say "official" because some people, myself included, might already be mentally doing Halloween season by late August / early September.

And that's it! Halloween in 2027 will be on a Sunday, so we will once again have a true "Halloweekend".

*NEW* Changes to 2027 Halloween Countdown Thread:

In past years, I have tried to keep my foot off the gas during November / Christmas Season, mainly to try and not "cut into" Christmas time, which is so scarce compared to Autumn / Halloween Season, but I wholeheartedly believe that we can keep a true, all year countdown, while keeping Christmas special. So I'm excited to announce that unlike past years, we are IMMEDIATELY jumping on the counts and will have a "theme" for each day of the week, that hopefully keeps Halloween/Autumn/Spooky Season in our minds all year long.

MONDAY - Movie Background Monday - highlighting an iconic, atmospheric movie backdrops that instantly transport you into an October headspace.

TUESDAY - Tuesday Twilight and Spooky Aesthetic (Moons, purple autumn skies, foggy graveyards, etc..)

WEDNESDAY - Midweek Chills (highlighting Halloween music, soundscapes, and audio tracks)

THURSDAY - Throwback Thrills (Retro Halloween memories, vintage decorations, classic magazine ads, etc)

FRIDAY - Community Show & Tell (sharing our local photos of Autumn / Halloween, porch setups, local foliage, etc)

SATURDAY - Open Hearth / Casual Chat

SUNDAY - Weekly Countdown Update

Thanks for sitting through the long read! I'll link to this NEW thread in last year's thread, so the followers know where to go! Thank you for being here with me, for anyone new, and for those who return year after year!

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Thanks for joining me on the new thread here, and thanks for sitting through the long informative post that launched this new thread.

I'm excited to try and do a "themed" day of the week during the week day, and I'm really looking forward to doing a "hardcore" Halloween countdown all year long. In years past, I have always shied away from really chasing the milestones and engaging during Christmas Season, but I like I said in post #1, I firmly believe that we can keep our love of Halloween alive all 52 weeks of the year, and still love / respect Christmas Season.

It's Sunday folks, so that means today is the day we update our "weeks" count, and it stands at 48 weeks to October 1st, 2027, and 52 weeks until Halloween 2027! The big agenda today is start decorating for Christmas!

Have a great Sunday, friends!

Awesome first two posts! Once again, the countdown to Halloween will be a fun one. Thank you, my friend.

I'm trying to go big this year on our Halloween Thread. In my mind, it kind of "stagnated" over the past year or so. Edge helped me bounce some ideas earlier in the month. I feel like he is really the thread "expert" because he runs so many threads and has quality content year round. It's funny, but I actually reached out to him first BEFORE deciding to do what I am doing because I didn't want him to get offended and think I was trying to copy him! So I'm excited for this year. I'm excited even more because I believe I can still keep excitement and love for Christmas season separate from Halloween, something I've always been afraid of in the past. I felt before like if I leaned on Halloween too hard, I was cutting short Christmas. I really think I can do both. Thank you for being here!

We all love each holiday season, and having joy on top of joy is never a bad thing. We can enjoy the anticipation of future holidays while living in the current ones. I'm already looking forward to the 2027 Halloween season.

The Halloween Party was a lot of fun last night. Lots of friends, just sitting around talking to new people, enjoying the company. Some were inside either watching college football or watching a classic movies (Frankenstein and others), some hanging out near the food, other small groups just chatting anywhere. Then, another group sitting out by the fire. We also had a surprise visitor. A small cat suddenly appeared among the group around the fire. The cat clearly wanted some attention, so she made her way from person to person. Clearly underfed, we of course provided some food.

I am excited to move into Christmas season, but Halloween will remain in my mind throughout Christmas. I truly love the Halloween through Christmas season and really both are on my mind all year!

For an assortment of reasons, some positive and many negative I did not have a great October. I didn't even put out any Halloween decorations or my Great Pumpkin Village, and definitely no Great Pumpkin Egg hunt but yesterday the pull to the Halloween Countdown thread brought me back, and today it was on my mind to make sure I came here and joined the new one. I am grateful to @SolidSnake84 and @Edge612 and everyone who runs a thread and everyone who posts regularly, even when I am not here you are all in my thoughts. Yesterday I was trying to remember who made the "candy tube/chute" for Trick or Treat during COVID! I am .happy to be here for the new Countdown and I look forward to the traditions and the new features that are coming

Hello Halloween Fans! We're backkkkkkkkkkk. 364 days till Halloween? I saw a picture of that this morning. And thank you SS for running this thread. Also thanks for the nice words but honestly sometimes I don't know how I keep the threads going that I do (it's not easy) so kudos to you for this thread. And I think from your intro everyone here can see this thread is going to become more hardcore and exciting this year than ever before. And if I am partially a small reason to "blame" for that I have no problem taking a little piece of blame. This Halloween Season was the best ever. And it made me realize again why it is my #1 favorite season because it's the only season I feel is truly in my heart all year long. I will do my personal best to post here a little more involved in the daily topics for sure. Happy Halloween!

Back to the count we are.

Thank you @SolidSnake84 for continuing this thread and adding to it each year.

It was another great Halloween. It was great weather, on a Saturday, the clocks went back which all made it extra special this year. As usual, we went to are bil house.

My son did give out candy at our house. We are lucky if we get 10 kids. On a Halloween miracle, this year we got between 35 and 40 kids this year! Wow. The most kids we have ever had in my 25 plus years I have lived at my house.

I am looking foward to counting down with all of you this year again.

Good Morning Pumpkin People! Today is our first day of Movie Background Monday, here in the new thread. And since Halloween was so recently, it made perfect sense to showcase the empty streets of Haddonfield". This shot is instantly recognizable to me, and should be for most Halloween movie fans. We will probably see more of Haddonfield in the coming weeks.

Looking at our countdowns, we are celebrating our very first milestone today in this new thread, that being 150 days to Spooky Spring! This count is one of the "sneaky" ones, it will be down at 100 or under before we are even really paying attention!

I hope you are all well on this Monday, have a great day!

Happy Monday! I took today off work months ago and I am enjoying a quiet, rainy day at home. There are still some Halloween vibes but thinking about Spooky Spring is a boost!

Something about the way those leaves are scattered, and the streets are empty makes you think Michael is around!

Hello Halloween Fans! I saw an interesting thing yesterday. I was walking a few blocks and saw this guy pull up his car and let a kid out with some big bag. He ran to the house. And then ran back. And this woman came out. I'm confused. Do they live there? And the father said this kid took way too much candy from her and he wanted to return it. You know how many people leave it out and said please take 1 (or at least please don't take the whole bowl). But the lady said that is fine don't worry they stock up all year for Halloween. And the kid seemed happy he got to keep all that candy. I hope he shares it with kids at school at least. Happy Halloween!

Being a HUGE horror and sci-fi fan, it's Halloween every day in my house. I keep monster stuff and Halloween decorations (a few) up all year, especially my indoor blow molds and cardboard cutouts. That being said, it's also Christmas every day in my house too! I keep a tree up in my bedroom all year and light it when I sleep. There are also some blow molds and other Christmas items I have on display. So I try to keep the spirit of both alive as much as I can.

Good Morning Pumpkin People! I'm off early from work today to head down to the State Arboretum, aka "The Ginkgo Grove" for some family pictures and to enjoy the beautiful fall ambience down there today. Today could very well be our "last" super warm day for the season. It gets up to 71, but by the weekend we get down in the 50's again.

Folks, the Halloween afterglow is strong. It has also been an "adjustment" of cruising the channels and not seeing Halloween movies on TV. Regular TV seems boring again. But I just have to remind myself that I will get my fill of Halloween stuff once again on Jack O Lantnern Day, and especially Spooky Spring. And they are coming quickly!

It's Tuesday, so it's time for our "Tuesday Twilight" and Spooky Aesthetic part of our thread:

I picked this one because I love seeing the "Halloween Moon" and the branches and the shot of the moon through the trees is pretty cool.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Here too. We might not hit 70 but we will be close and a chance of some severe thunderstorms later today. Next weekend we have lows near freezing!!! Glad the nice weather stayed nice for Halloween.
