Thanks Brad!!! They don't feel it's safe to move her anymore - it's hard on us & it's hard on her heart. So we are having to learn to use a hoyer lift. No fun!

Keeping your mom, you and your family, and your mom's caregivers in my prayers. {{{HUGS}}}

Hello all! I haven’t logged in for a few weeks and know the season is getting closer, so I wanted to catch up!

Not much new here - just busy like usual, especially with the kids. It’s that time of the year whenever I get a free minute, it’s spent with the family. We’ve been doing a lot of fall activities and having a lot of fun!

I think tonight, we will do a Halloween movie night. We haven’t had much time to do this together yet, so that’s my plan. Thursday is Trick-or-Treat. This night is very special in my house. Since it’s not an official work holiday, I’m ever to take it off every year and make it very special for the kids. The whole day is a blast. I make them a special breakfast and while they’re at school, I bake a special treat, and have a themed dinner for them when they get home. I decorate a ton anyways, but when they get home from school, I have the house even decorated more, have music and tv Halloween themes playing, and have a mini party for them. We play themed games and have a great time. We go trick-or-treating with a crowd from our neighborhood and then come home and watch Charlie Brown with candy and popcorn. The kids have school off the next day, so this makes it nice - they can stay up later. I’m really looking forward it!

I hope all is well with you all and that you’re having a great day so far!

Merry Tuesday, Sugar!

Good to see you! Your Halloween plans sound amazing!!

I’m so glad to hear things are going so well for you. She sounds like she’s a gem! I forgot to post this earlier, but we’re expextinf another family member as well! We have a new golden retriever coming to our family November 10th, so it’s going to be an interesting Christmas here with decorations as well!

Congratulations on your soon-to-be new member golden retriever!!

Merry Tuesday, MC!

You're welcome. I hope Mr. is better today!

It's so nice you found a book you treasure. I have a vintage copy of Mother West Wind's Children by Thornton W. Burgess ~ love it! My hometown library had several copies of his books and when I first learned to read, I checked them out several times over. :)
Thornton Burgess! We had a good friend, an elderly gentleman who loved Burgess' books from childhood. After he passed away, he had two or three vintage sets of Burgess' books, comic strip panels of Peter Rabbit, plus Sandwich glass medallions of the characters and a photo of Burgess---we didn't know where he got it, but the Thornton Burgess Museum in Sandwich wanted it. We let them have it (Mr. was his executor) provided they put our friend's name on it as the donor.

He was also a big Christmas nut ... if he were here today, I'm sure he'd be all over MMC!

If you love Burgess' stories, I bet you'd love the Hollow Tree stories by Albert Bigelow Paine. There are several places you can read them online or download them (safely) for free.

I feel like Christmas nuts are the ones who appreciate good children's literature---because part of us never grew up all the way, in a good way.

Happy Tuesday!! Typical work day for me and my husband's car is in the shop, a couple of radiator hoses went so he has my car for the day. Hopefully it won't be too expensive. Yesterday in my daughter's soccer game she got hit in the face with ball at close range...she has a little black eye and had a bit of headache when she got home. I called the pediatrician but she didn't think it was a concussion and gave me signs to look for it but so far she seems ok. Hope you all have a great day!
I hope your daughter feels better!
Thanks to all of you! She looks a little better today than she did yesterday - she's getting to spend A LOT of time in bed. I'm going over at lunch to help move her to her chair. Poor lady!!

Glad to hear Carolina is doing better! xx

I'm the same way with flannel sheets...just can't do them. Maybe if we kept our house colder... ;)
I'm glad she feels a little bit better! I hope she continues to improve

I just worked this am then Carolina and I stayed in and relaxed. Shes starting to feel better and I'm getting her cold. Tomorrow is more of the same with work. Carolina will go to my cousins all day tomorrow because Mike has mandatory OT tonight and tomorrow night at work. Thursday we have a school field trip to the zoo

That is a really nice story Merry, thank you for sharing. I love what the Mr did for your friend, that was very thoughtful and nice. I love old books myself.

How you phrased your last paragraph was perfect, it’s exactly how I am, deep on the inside. I have a book shelf full of children’s books and general books on Christmas. A bunch of them I bought for my kids when they were little and I never got rid of them, the rest, I have accumulated over the years.

Right now, I’m reading a book titled, “The Heart of Christmas on this Holy Night”.

That’s wonderful! Golden retrievers are so beautiful, friendly and a great family addition; congratulations! Oh yea, I think there’s going to be plenty excitement that morning with the puppies first Christmas. I so happy for you.

Sounds like you're getting prepared!!

Can't do flannel sheets - too warm!!! LOL But you enjoy!!!

I like them too! I like the way they feel, so comfortable, soft and warm. But, that’s the problem that I have with them, is that because I am a human furnace, I generate so much heat, that after a few minutes under them, I gotta start peeling blankets off me because I’m too hot. I like them on, in the dead of winter, when it’s brutally cold outside.

Happy Pines Day MMC! 1 week till Halloween geez. Looks like we have a stormy weekend ahead. When I get home from work Rollins cone comes off. I bet he's going to be surprised. He seems to quickly have adjusted to wearing it. Other than that, just a new person starts at work today. Hopefully I'll be able to help her out. Have a great day!

Merry Pines Day MMC!
It’s going to be sunny today with a high of 56, we’re currently at 44 degrees. Just a typical day of errands and chores for me. I also have plans later this afternoon to take my mother dress shopping for my daughters wedding. That’s about it. I hope everyone is well and has a nice day, see you tonight!
xx

Hello all. It's been super busy the past week so I haven't had any time to check in, just the occasional Christmas pic. The Halloween decorations are going up today. This is the first year at the new house, so I don't know how many kids we're going to get.

I was in the bookstore yesterday and all the great Christmas magazines are out now. There are so many Christmas cookie ones, I've already picked up a couple and I'll have to go back for more. Plus all the great Christmas craft and decor mags out there. So many great ideas.

It's going to be a little cooler today, around 6C (42F), so it's time to bundle up a little. Maybe time for a nice cup of tea. :)

Good Morning, Vivacious Voyagers!

Charging right along we are. Converging on the same destination.
The "Big S", capped off by "Big C".

So let's look at today's Big Numbers (which, of course, grow smaller by the day.)
Days to Halloween: 7 (ONE WEEK from TODAY!!)
Days to the Season: 20 (Now UNDER three weeks off!)
Days to Christmas Day: 62 (Below the nine week mark!)
Our voyage is starting to draw to a conclusion, dear Friends.

We warmed up a bit yesterday but I never saw the promised 70 degrees.
Now, it's predicted to cool off again and we will get wet as the remains of the Pacific hurricane are supposed to come our way by Saturday. But not to worry, because we will not be here! (Details to follow in a separate post.)
This center day of the week has commenced here under clear skies, with a temperature reading of 46 degrees.

Well Folks, Carl's preparations for the BIG Halloween open house at the 'Pines a week from today are in full swing. Our dedicated activities director promises to deliver an evening you will be scared to forget!
In the meantime, enjoy the next-to-the last open house of October, with seasonal fall-themed fired twinkies and the usual, dependable glass of sweet southern iced tea.

Until this evening then, have a Wonderful Wednesday, Everybody!

** TRAVEL ALERT **

The Crowns have a sad task this weekend - traveling to Florida for the funeral of our cousin who passed away this month. He was the one we went down annually to see.
But time passes and so do we all.
A volunteer countdowner will therefore be needed for three mornings, this Friday through Sunday.
No application will be rejected. (As long as it's first!)

Good Wednesday morning! A dreary, rainy day but at least it’s not snow. Snow can wait. I’m heading out to work in a couple of minutes and during lunch break, I’ll head over to Dollarama and see if I can find accessories to complete my Halloween costume. And to find bunny ears because on Saturday the mall where our store is situated is hosting its Halloween activities and kids will be swinging by for some candy, so I have to have a bit of a costume there. Hope everyone will enjoy a great day!
