Maybe you can get some decorating done today!
Or maybe some zzz's!! ;) :D

Good Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

It's sunny and not quite as cold today. I have one of my office windows open and the slight but brisk breeze feels great!

Nancy and I spent the evening going through old pictures, trying to gather a few pictures for Elizabeth to put in the school's annual since she's a senior this year. I have to admit, it was hard to hide the tears. I wish they were still 6 and 3 years old. Where did the years go?

Anyway, I hope y'all have a great day! :D
Awe!! (((Hugs))) Hope you are having a great day!

Busy week this week: two Christmas lunches & one of two parades is today at 5:00 p.m. Dry, but cool, so I'll go home on lunch hour to gather coats, gloves, scarves, & hats for DH & myself. DD is excited to finally get to march in a parade!

We got to watch White Christmas Sunday night, so DH's Christmas movie watching is complete! He said we might watch Holiday Inn sometime. We have Saturday free, so maybe we'll get into the spirit a little more. So much going on that's not Christmas related, that it's hard to get into the spirit. I know there's just two weeks left, so I'm willing myself to make the most of every moment until then.

Good Morning, Folks!

Can we really be at the TWO WEEK mark already?
Fifty-Two down to two?

Well, take a look-see:
Days to Christmas Day: 14
Yep.
Two weeks from today, we will be waking up on Christmas morning.....believe it or not!

We got still more snow yesterday morning, followed by a period of sleet. RDU airport recorded over 10 inches. Exceptionally rare for early December!
But the temps were above freezing which quickly cleared the heavy snow from most of the roads.
I would not consider venturing out this morning though, with our temperature at 31 degrees, owing to black ice. We should reach about 40 later with sun, so there should not be a driving problem.

Have a Terrific Tuesday and a Stupendous Second day of the week Friends, whatever your weather!
Soooo...Does that mean you want to rev up countdown 2019? Only 54 weeks, and one day, to go...

I take one week off annually, from Christmas through Dec 31. (My week of rest.) Then, promptly at midnight Jan 1, the existing Countdown thread is locked for archiving and "Christmas Countdown - 2019" will launch. Usually, there is only a delay of about a minute or so.
(Over the years, I have gotten this down to an art!)

Merry Tuesday!

Went with my brother to the VA hospital as he had some business he had to take care of today. Did a bit of thrifting ~ found some good stuff for the store! Always nice when that happens. Not feeling the greatest today, so ended up home fairly early and I've just been curled up under a blanket, reading, until an hour ago. Had a rough night with lots of weird/scary dreams and I think that has a lot to do with the way I feel today. A good night's sleep should set me to rights. :)

Have a merry evening!!

An impressive feat, Crown, to get the thread up and running so quick. Always a thrilling sight to see the new Christmas Countdown! Thank you!!!

Well of course, it's already typed up ahead of time and ready for pasting in a new thread.

Every year you are ready to start the new thread at the start of the New Year ~ I still say that is an impressive feat! :)

Ah the joy of being awoken at 1:35am by the alarm company at the store telling me there’s a fire alarm that went off and police and firefighters are on their way, only to get there within 15 minutes and not seeing anyone on site, much less any fire, and having to wait forever until someone from the security company shows up so I can go in and have a look (going on 50 minutes waiting now).

ETA: Just spoke with a representative and the guard said he got here a 2:11am and waited until 2:30am, but I was here and saw no one, so I wonder if all this time they were waiting by another entrance to the mall...
Overnight alarm codes are the worst. We have a manager who lives 1 minute from the store and he never answers his calls.
Good morning ~
Merry Tuesday!
It’s going to be mostly sunny today with highs near 40, we’re currently at 21 degrees. I have an appointment today for my second fitting on my mother of the bride gown. My youngest is off today so she’s going to tag along. We plan on grabbing lunch after my appointment and then do some Christmas shopping. That’s about it for me. Hope everyone is well. Have a great day MMC!!!
xx
Hope you had a great day!

Good 12-12! Looks like we have Double 12's today on the calendar. Every day seems so much closer to Christmas it's almost scary. Tonight I plan on wrapping and watching some Christmas shows. Need to have a night like that tonight because tomorrow is our work Christmas party which lasts till around 8PM. Anyone feeling the pressure of Christmas right about now? Have a great Pines Day!

Today my cousin was taken to the hospital. He has cellulitis that sometimes flares up. We are not sure if this is what is happening as his white blood count is elevated and blood pressure and heart rates are all over the place. His temperature went from 100.3 to 103 in an hour and a half. My mom and I have some concerns thanks to GOOGLE so I hope that isn't the case

Praying they found out what is going on. Sounds like it could definitely be an infection with possible sepsis, which is treatable and thank goodness got on it right away!

Good Sunday morning, Christmas friends!

I've been away from here for a few days, so please forgive me if I've missed any big happenings. I was out of town on Friday, and yesterday was spent shopping, and at Nancy's family's home.

As I mentioned on Thursday, we were supposed to get Nancy's mom's test results that afternoon. We didn't get the results we were hoping for, though. Her cancer is back, and is, apparently, untreatable. Mrs. Hilda is a wonderful lady, who took me in as family as soon as Nancy and I started dating. I'd give anything if she didn't have to suffer through this. As always, prayers and positive thoughts for Mrs. Hilda, Nancy and their family are coveted and appreciated.

Tonight, Nancy's boss (who also happens to be her older sister) is taking their office to see Harry Connick, Jr. in concert. I think all of those girls have a bit of crush on ol' Harry. This isn't the first such trip they've made to see him. Hmmm. The kids and I will be at the church Christmas Party tonight. So, I'll be at church, and my wife will be ogling another guy. Double-hmmm.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

So incredibly sorry to hear of Mrs. Hilda's results - she sounds like such a special lady. I'll praying for her, Nancy, and your entire family.

I have to tell you all what happened to me within a 6 hour timeframe on this past Friday. I received a phone call at the office from an equipment representative, (on the QT). He told me that another engineering firm was in desperate need of an engineer and that he felt it would be perfect for me.

I said sure, why not, I’ll send them a resume over. Now, I was not actively looking for another place of employment, but I figured nothing ventured, nothing gained!. So, I sent a resume over at 10:30. By 11:30, I got a reply back from them asking if I can come in for an interview at 4:00. Now here I am, unshaven, wearing a Ford motor ball cap, jeans, tee shirt and a flannel shirt, not prepared in the slightest way for a job interview.

I said ok and went over there. It was a very good interview, I sat and talked with the three principals there for about an hour and then left. Get this, within 30 minutes, the president there texted me, and I had a job offer, for more money, more paid time off, full benifits, and more. I was blown away.

I accepted.
Im still trying to get a grasp of what all just exactly happened. I don’t think it has fully sunken in yet and the first thing I did was to thank the Lord for all of it and talk to my wife. She was thrilled for me.

So, now I have to break the news to my employer that I will be leaving. I’ll give them a proper notice, but I know it will be a shock to them.

I was not thinking about what was best for me, but I was thinking about what will be best for my family. I will be working closer to home, shaving about 20 minutes off my commute from the current 60 minutes it takes me now.

Im still stunned.

Oh Xmastiidngs - I'm so happy for you and your family! What exciting news! God sometimes truly does things in mysterious way, just when we are needing them. Hoping you love the new job and that it is a great fit for you!

Good morning ~
Merry Pines Day!
I have a dentist appointment today, I’m going for a cleaning and xrays. I’m meeting up with my oldest afterward and we are going shopping for faux fur wraps to wear over our gowns for the wedding. Hopefully we’ll find what we’re looking for. I’m getting too old for all of this running around every day! I hope everyone has a nice day, see you tonight!
xx

Good Wednesday morning! We’re in the middle of a cold snap that should break Friday. I even turned on the heat in the bedroom yesterday it was so cold. We usually only heat two rooms in the Winter and keep the bedroom cool for a good night’s sleep.

And I haven’t had one of those so far this week, with being called in the middle of the night again, for the second night in-a-row, after another alarm went off at the store, and the two previous nights waking up at 3am. Hoping for uninterrupted sleep tonight.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Monday morning! We're having to deal with cold temperatures until Friday but at least the sun will be out. Right now I'm cuddled up with Loki on the couch under some blankets. I am feeling quite tired after waking up at 3am the last two nights. I'm really struggling to catch up on my Christmas to-do list. I think the stress is getting to me and hindering my sleep.

On Friday and Saturday at work I had to console two employees who learned of the unexpected deaths of members of their families. One's father in China passed away. He had been hospitalized and they were running tests, she was to go visit him this week, when suddenly her brother called her at work letting her know that he had passed away. She called herself a "daddy's girl" so it was quite a shock to her. And then on Saturday one of my employees who had the day off came to see me and was sobbing uncontrollably. Her 22-year-old nephew, only child of her twin sister, died from heart failure. He was healthy, they have no idea what happened. She was leaving for Iraq last night to help support her sister. It was heartbreaking to see in both cases, especially since their beloved families are so far away.

So hug the ones you love each and every day, there is nothing more important. Have a great day everyone.

Hope you've been able to get some sleep - it's terrible when you can't and truly messes the whole day up.

Wow - so incredibly sorry to hear of your co-workers families passing. This is so sad, especially at the holidays. Praying for them!
