Christmas is now so close you can almost reach out and touch it with a candy cane.

Now dwindled down to barely over HALF a week!
(Close. So very close!)

Plenty of rain yesterday, as a big system runs up the eastern part of the country.
No severe weather here, but the rain may continue into today before we begin a dry weekend, the FINAL weekend before Christmas!
We commence this Weekend Eve at a surprising 61 sunny degrees here in our part of the wonderful MMC Nation.

If you don't mind me asking you even more, what's the ratio water to salt to make the brine? Also, do you soak the tenderloins as well?

I just use a cup of kosher salt to a gallon of water. There are lots of different recipes, though.

I've learned a lot at smokingmeatforums.com .

And yes, I soak the tenderloins, too.

Good morning all!

Christmas break has begun. My son is home from the Army. Yesterday evening so a lot of fun talking to him about Army stuff. Comparing the experiences to when I was in and discussing what has changed. The other thing that was interesting is the realization that he is an adult! He was still 17 when he left for Basic training.

Tonight is cookie baking night. Lots of cookies! Tomorrow we will take boxes of cookies to the post office, police department, fire department, and a couple of local businesses. We have done that for years now and it is one of my absolute favorite Christmas traditions. Henry loves it too; he is the one who actually presents the cookies at each place.

TGIF, Christmas friends!

We had a BLAST at the company Christmas party last night! We hired a group that provides gambling tables at your site. We had four blackjack tables, a roulette table and a craps table. We were all give $25,000 apiece (in Monopoly money) that we traded for chips. Of course, I lost it all. Nancy did well, though. I would never gamble with real money, but this was a lot of fun.

Today is the last work day of the year for me. I have a lot to finish up before I go.

My cousin went back to the hospital last night. The original thinking was that he had sepsis but it is actually a bad case of bronchitis. He has to stay home from work until Wednesday so that means he wont haveto work on Christmas or Christmas Eve.
My other cousin announced last week that she is now engaged to a guy she met on World of Warcraft. They speak everyday through facetime. He lives in Canada and is coming down in February to meet her. They plan to get married during the time he is here. I am not sure what their plan is after they get married. My aunt is pretty upset about it but cant convince my cousin this isnt the best idea. She is 23 and sort of does what she pleases. My aunts only hope is that if the marriage doesnt work out she will come home. Please pray we can get thru this trying time

I don't know what I think about marrying someone you only know from an online fighting game. I have a younger cousin who became enamored with a guy she met on a gaming site. After some arguing with her family, the "relationship" finally fell apart on its own.

Hey Natalie - Not quite sure what is the appropriate prayer for your cousin. At least this isn't a totally blind relationship. I will pray that whatever the future holds for your cousin, that it will be the best possible outcome for all who are affected. May courage and wisdom fall upon them.

I hope your other cousin heals up quickly.

My youngest is home again today..I think she needs one more day to rest. She still is really stuffy. Work for me today and I am going to organize my gifts tonight and see what I have left to get...luckily all my stocking stuffers I can get in town and I don't need to head to the mall.

Good afternoon Merry Christmas followers! I have had a few hectic days and late nights but I think it is now smooth sailing. Awful warm here today with a snow storm hitting us tomorrow, this weather is getting crazy.

A night at the Pines is just what the doctor ordered....

Except for the two sick kids I have who are throwing up. We have been going at it since last night at 3:15ish. Needless to say, I'm pretty tired. No school for any of us today...

So, that means coffee, reading, and cleaning up after sick kids. Does that balance out? I mean...no work, but sick kids....I think I'd rather work weeks straight than deal with this stuff.

Nonetheless, it will be a good day. A lot of Daddy snuggles are wanted. I just hope I don't get it.

Hope you continue to improve! My allergies/sinuses have been acting a lot more these past two months. The past couple of weeks I've been miserable, but I started using a saline nose spray a few days ago and have started to feel a lot better!
