@HomemakinGirl I can’t believe that your daughter’s wedding is a week away! It seems like yesterday you were announcing her engagement. I hope everything is on track and that everyone enjoys the lead-up to the big event these next few days.

I know it’s crazy, the time has flown by. And thank you so much, we’re really excited!
Enjoy your four day weekend!!!
xo

I agree about the hectic nature of Holiday weddings, although they are usually so beautiful! I chose the Saturday after Thanksgiving to get married and my sister got married the day after Christmas. Needless to say, my poor mother was going crazy for those two years! But they sure do make for fun, festive weddings!

Yes I’ve been going crazy as well lol. It will be beautiful though, we had it written in to the venue contract that all of their Christmas decorations will still be up for the wedding. They do an amazing job with the Christmas lights, I’m sure my daughter and her soon to be husband will have gorgeous photos!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
xx

Good morning MMC and Happy Saturday!
I’m heading out soon to make a big food shopping trip. Back home afterward to tidy up and start laundry. My daughter and I have to pick up bridesmaid gifts at some point. We ordered jewelry for the girls and everything finally came in. A couple of things were taking forever, probably because of the holiday. The boutique has the gifts wrapped and ready. The rehearsal dinner is this evening, should be lots of fun!
I hope everyone is well and has a great day!!!

Happy Last Weekend of 2018 MMC! Where has this year gone? I really am amazed by it all. I feel like my brother was just here in June and now he's here in December. And he'll be here till Monday the 31st. Had a late night at 1 uncle's last night. But it was fun. Today just got some errands to do and maybe a relaxing evening with a friend coming to hang out for dinner and ice cream. 4 days off for me. Have a great Saturday!

Good Saturday morning! I had no energy left at the end of the day yesterday so I’ve been up since 6am baking and tidying up. I have a batch of jam thumbprint coookies done, some sucre à la crème (maple fudge), and the dough for chocolate chip cookies is in the fridge for now. I’m running a load in the dishwasher while the dough chills. Once it’s done, I’ll start working on savoury dishes. My family is coming early afternoon/lunch time, so it will be mostly appetizers and snacks. Despite all my planning, I’m missing a few ingredients still so David was kind enough to run to the store for me. Enjoy your last Saturday of 2018!

Good morning ... We have been slowing getting the gifts out from under the tree and put away.. Got my kicthen cleaned yesterday. We are taking the kids to six flags (great adventure) later today for the CHristmas in the Park. No rain and milder temps so it should be a good day.

Happy 5th Day of Christmas!!

First of all, no one in my family spent Christmas in the hospital or funeral home, so I am blessed here.

DH & I went out of town for our 25th wedding anniversary on Thursday night. He got sick during the night on Thursday and has been sick off and on ever since. He made it to his parent's house for Christmas breakfast, but not to my parent's house for Christmas dinner. He is off work today & tomorrow and said he feels better today.

Being gone for the lead up to Christmas Eve made it seem that Christmas just started & then it was over. We met DH's parents at the mall on Christmas Eve morning as usual and they brought DD with them. DD & DH had our traditional Chinese lunch at the food court and I should have too, but I chose Chic-Fil-A instead. Can't go wrong there either! We came home to start laundry & straightened up the house for Santa's arrival. We watched Little House on the Prairie's The Christmas They Never Forgot & It's a Wonderful Life. DH even watched with us this year! We had soup & grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner since DH wasn't feeling great. Our Christmas Eve menu at home is different every year.

Christmas morning DH wasn't feeling well again, but he made it through Christmas breakfast with his family at his parent's house. We came home and took an afternoon nap. He still wasn't feeling well, so DD & I went to my parent's house for Christmas dinner & he stayed at home. DD spent the night with my parent's as has become tradition (all four granddaughters stay the night with them). Because we had been gone since Thursday, there were no groceries at home, so DH & I ended up at Walgreen's at 8:30 on Christmas night buying chicken noodle soup for his dinner!

I am a traditionalist with a twist and I have learned over the years that I have to let go of the perfect vision I have for everything and just go with the flow. This Christmas season and our anniversary trip have been another learning experience for me. By the time It's a Wonderful Life was over on Christmas Eve, I was sufficiently filled with the Christmas spirit and slept well. That is, until FIL called DH at 4:20 a.m. to yell "Christmas Gift!" and hang up. That is a tradition started by FIL's mother (not at 4:20 a.m though...). I told DH not to answer the phone, but he did and then we had a hard time going back to sleep, hence the afternoon nap we needed! Next year, maybe we will remember to turn off our ringers before bedtime on Christmas Eve!

I am back to work today, but DH took vacation days for today & tomorrow. He & MIL took DD to see the new Mary Poppins movie today. DH & I saw it on our anniversary trip. I'm still listening to Christmas music in the car as long as satellite radio keeps playing it & the house will stay decorated until January 1. I'm already looking forward to next year and thinking up possible gifts for next Christmas.

I hope everyone who is sick is recovering. Bless you all.

Praying DH is coming along and feeling better. Besides from him unfortunately not feeling well, sounds like you guys had a great Christmas!

Heyy Sugar..Merry Christmas and a Happy boxing day to you and your family...Ohhh we do game nites too its lots of fun...Have a fantastic evening ahead my friend:)

Merry Christmas, prancer! Game night was fun - we have a couple more planned coming up!

Thank you sugar! They say he is having strokes in his brain due to the clots. They are not sure what it is but there are a lot of specialists involved. Infectious disease drs won't treat him with medicine until they know exactly what it is. Nothing has grown on the lumbar punctures so they are going to redo those again tomorrow. I wish for once we would have an uneventful Christmas

God Bless him! Lots of continued prayers - keep us all updated!

So, when does everyone start picking up? I just got done taking down my Christmas decoration in the living room. I know I do it early, but when does everyone else do it?

We wait until after January 6th, since that is the epiphany. With our love for Christmas and being Catholic, we have a strong belief that this truly is the last day of the season. I have a lot snowman and winter decorations, so they'll be up until I decorate for spring.

Hi all.

I joined this forum two years ago, when I was feeling the post-Christmas blues. Ever since I was little, I looked forward to Christmas all year long. I love the music, the movies, the lights, decorations, the aura, the history...basically, everything.

I love how early it all starts, but I HATE how it seemingly ends at 9 PM on December 25th. In 12 days fashion, I still love doing Christmas things up until mid-January.

Still though, I just get an empty, hollow feeling, when everyone around me is packing up their Christmas stuff, throwing out their trees, etc.

What are some little ways that you friends keep up the Christmas cheer all year round? Despite me still celebrating through early January, it just doesn't feel the same.

Anyone feel me on this?

I think it is totally normal to feel this way and I think probably most of us do. To not feeling totally down, we continue to listen to Christmas music and watch movies, plan events with the family, and leave our decorations up past the epiphany.

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

We had a great Christmas! After church on Christmas Eve, we went to Nancy's family get-together, and lots of seafood! We spent most of Christmas Day at my mom's, with my family and Jim's family. I smoked some turkey and a ham, and it was pretty good, if I do say so myself. ;)

I'm off all week, but I woke up with a sore throat and stuffy nose. Doggone it.

And Jacob is home for the week, too!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D
-merry-

Pray you fell better, Brad! Enjoy the time with Jacob and your family!

Same with us! For both of our weddings both the church and the reception hall were decorated for Christmas and it made for the most stunning wedding photos! I'm so excited for you all! What a great time to have a wedding! Have a great time!

I’m with you on this I will be celebrating until who knows when I will even be mowing my lawn in the spring with Christmas music playing. But it’s just not the same when everyone else moves on .

Good afternoon MMC!!! Lucy & I took a trip to Ben Franklin today to see what kind of store closing sales they had left, only to find they are already closed!!! :( They were supposed to be open until after the 1st of the year - they must have sold everything. SOOOOOO sad!!!

Then I got word that my brother in law's brother had a stroke yesterday. Sounds like he is ok, but it affected his vision. Anyone who has time, please say a prayer for Tom. He's too young (and busy) to be dealing with that!!! One of the best mechanics in the county! And a good guy too! ♥ These last few months have just not been great!!

Since Ben Franklin was closed I went to the hardware store next door & picked up some - kind of spring things - potting soil (so I can plant a few starts from my Grandma's spider plant for my new co-workers) finch food & some lights to decorate my brothers tree in our back yard - green & white lights as he passed away on St. Patty's Day - we'll keep them up all winter to light up the cold dark nights!

Watching Hallmark Christmas today & starting to get pretty sad that they will be coming to an end soon!!! I will continue to watch on Youtube, DVD & Netflix though! :)

Everyone, have a great day!!!
