Good morning ~
I’ve been up for awhile, my oldest started texting me around 4:30am. She knows I’m usually up early anyway. She’s coming down with something and couldn’t sleep. Thankfully she has off today so she needs to get to the doctor as soon as possible to see what’s going on. She’s scheduled to work tomorrow and Saturday so I’m hoping it’s nothing serious. If it is I told her she will have to get a note from the doctor and stay home. She feels bad because she just got back from her honeymoon. I don’t have too much going on today. I want to make my daughter a pot of chicken soup and bring it over to the apartment, I just need to pick up a couple of things at the supermarket. Other than that I will be catching up with some things around the house. We were out of the house yesterday for quite some time for my youngest daughters graduation ceremony. It was a beautiful ceremony but very long lol. I still can’t believe my baby is a college graduate. I feel old! Well thats about it for me. Oh and I’m going to make shrimp scampi over linguini for dinner. I hope everyone has a nice day!
xx

I’m sure a pot of Moms chicken soup will get your daughter up and running again. I’m smiling as I write this not because your daughter isn’t feeling well but because your reaction to her illness is so sweet and loving. It was nice to read.

Good Thursday morning! I was up early on my day off for an appointment at the dealership to change our car battery. I definitely would’ve liked to sleep in, for the first time in forever I hit the snooze button.

Yesterday in a matter of hours the temperature dropped from 1°C/34°F to -20°C/-4°F, it was brutal when I left work. It’s currently -28°C/-18°F with the wind and it will stay very cold over the next week or so. We’re still dreading a big snowstorm on Sunday, keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t be as bad as they say.

There will be lots of running around today, between the dealership, grocery shopping, a medical appointment for me and David’s physio, as well as going over to my in-laws in preparation for their trip to Hawaii next week (we’ll be taking care of their house and birds during that time). Not much of a relaxing day for a day off...Hope everyone will have a great day ahead!

I am looking forward to the storm this Sunday. I love the quietness of the snow and causes the my town to stop for a moment in time, especially in the winter. I am grateful I have a warm place to call home and I am with my family during that time. How is everyone else's day going?

Hey everyone! I've been away for a few days because my brother had to have an emergency surgery. Thankfully, he will be ok. I have been reading through the posts and have been impressed with the way people have been able to find some ways to save money already this year! So I started looking at some of our habits. I have this weird habit of recording what we ate for dinner every day. I draw out calendars every year (printing out calendars would be easier, but I enjoy drawing them. Weird!) and record what I made for dinner each day or record if we ordered out. I also challenge myself to make three new recipes each month. I started doing this 3 years ago partly because my husband was making comments that he felt we had the same things over and over and I wanted to prove him wrong (haha) and partly because I have started cooking more and wanted to see what worked and what didn't. Then it just became a habit. So, I just looked at all of the months from last year and made a list of all the times we went to a restaurant or ordered out. Ouch. Boy was that an eye opener. I am thankful I didn't record how much each meal out was! Let's just say that between our local Chinese takeout place and a local mom and pop restaurant that we love to order from I could have saved a TON of money. And that was just those two places, let alone all the other ones I had to list So, thanks to everyone for talking about trying to save money here because it forced me to realize I need to cook more and stay away from takeout so much! I am going to try and limit it to twice a month instead of the 4-5 times we were doing!
I'm glad to hear that your brother is ok!

Good Morning, my Friends!
Welcome to Milestone number one of the 2019 Countdown!!
(With many more to come; some sooner than you might think!)

Days to the Season: 300
Days to Christmas Day: 342

And there you have it.
The 300-day Season Window.
And tomorrow we begin Season count numbers starting with a "2".
Wow!

It just keeps getting warmer by degrees.
Today will see us in the low 50's, but then upper 50's are predicted for tomorrow and Saturday.
After that....well....I don't want to think about it, because by Sunday night, we will be well below freezing!
Right now, we show 36 degrees here on our back door thermometer.

Have a Thrilling Thursday, Folks!

Now THAT is a peaceful image. I wish we got regular snow down south. This is a picture of Main St. in Waynesville, NC. We vacation there all the time:

I am sort of the same way - as long as I can stay home, I love to sit by my window, play some soft Christmas music, read, sip coffee, and watch the snow fall. I also dread when DH has to work. He isn't the one driving the truck (he is the one in the officers seat, but I still hate when he is on the road), plus, these brutal temps make it is so much worse for a bad fire, but I love when the snow falls on the weekend.

Thx Crown....happy Milestone Day!! Just being in the 200's brings a smile to my face!

Happy Friday Eve and Merry Milestone Day! I was up early today and could not fall back asleep so I am just having a cup of coffee. Looks like we are looking at our first major storm for Sunday...I am going to get something good to make for dinner and hopefully we don't lose power! I am looking forward to some downtime and not having to run on a schedule. I am off on Monday too so that is nice to look forward to as well. Hope you all have a great day!

Sad. Yesterday at the mall, workers were preparing to remove the very last vestige of Christmas 2018.
All other decorations are now down until next season, which for Crabtree just means a little over 9 months!

Happy Thursday!

Ugh, the weekend weather. Wouldn't be so bad if they were calling for all snow, but after beginning as snow, we're supposed to get a day of sleet and freezing rain, followed by more snow and sleet, then a rapid hard freeze in the single digits. I worry about losing electricity, as we don't have a generator and all that ice will make any power restoration a slow process. We'll just have to hope for the best, and maybe the storm will shift to decreased the ice forecast.

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

I went to the ortho doctor yesterday about my hand. He was pretty confident he wouldn't have to amputate. I hope he didn't think I was overreacting, but I can't really stand the thought of weakness in my hand. It's already causing issues playing my guitar. I'm not so good that people ask me to play for them, but I really enjoy playing for myself.

The doctor was a nice guy, and he recommended some things to keep my arm straight as much as possible, especially while sleeping. He also prescribed steroids. Maybe all of that will help, and avoid surgery.

We took Jacob out to dinner last night, then made the dreaded trip to Walmart.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Good morning and Happy Milestone Day! I've already scrubbed the floor and swept this morning. It was partly due to the dogs tracking some mud in to the house, but it was on the agenda anyway. DH smoked some ribs on the grill for dinner and threw in the crockpot to finish cooking, since he will be working tonight, to make things easier for dinner for me.

Not much planned for today. I have a follow-up appointment with my NP today, regarding all that has been going on. I pray she tells me I can go back to work here in a few weeks. I guess even if she does, it sounds more like it is the dermatologist that has the biggest say in all of this anymore, since he thinks it may still all be drug related and thinks my meds may need changed again and doesn't want to cause another seizure.

Anyway, just doing some odds and ends this am and probably just going to relax this evening since DH works. I hope you all have a great day - I'll check back in later!

Praying everything the doctor ordered helps. I can understand your frustration though - guitar is something you love and not being to do it, really is a downer.

I'm glad dinner was fun and I can understand the trip to Wal-Mart. It's nice that everything is one place and that it saves money, but I just down right can't stand that place for so many reasons. I'll over pay a little bit and go to Target.
