Hello all!

The heat continues to rise! It is supposed to hit about 92 today and of course be humid. YUCK! Oh well, the heat makes me appreciate winter even more.

Yesterday we went and bought a couple of chairs for out front porch to replace he broken bench. When we got home, Henry wanted to help and quickly went and got the broom and started sweeping the porch. Then, he started pulling some weeds from around our bushes. He was having fun doing the yard work and decided he wanted to offer his weed pulling services to the neighborhood. So, before bed last night and made a sign offering his services. He also gave himself the job of sweeping the front porch everyday so it is always clean for us to sit outside. He always wants to be helpful and kind. Super proud of him!

My brother-in-law had a flight cancelled and then another delayed yesterday. He was supposed to get into Dayton around 7PM, but instead did not get here until almost 2AM. My wife picked him up from the airport and took him to his hotel. He had his interview this morning starting at 8:30 and will probably last a good portion of the day. Plus, coming from California the time difference already has him messed up I am sure. Hopefully the interview goes well today. We should get to spend some time with him later today or tomorrow.

Well, I hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon ... Well my car started giving me issues last night, looks like the starter is going bad. I was hoping to hold off until the end of Aug to trade it in on a new car but I think I will be much sooner. Hubby and I are going to test drive a few tomorrow so we shall see. Other then that it's to hot and icky to do anything else outside. Hope everyone has a great day

My husband and I are about to use a rain plan for date night that I think may be better than the original plan of the driving range: watching Hallmark Movies and Mysteries’ Christmas movies and enjoying Chinese food together!! Happy Weekend and Happy (almost) CIJ weekend!!!

It only got to 27 yesterday and I'm already feeling it, but I will get by with several fans and keeping things cool instead of AC; the noise disturbs his majesty the feral cat too much.

A new roof - O'Malley caved for three days when we had a few shingles replaced - the sound of scraping off the old ones and securing the new ones was too much for him.

Our mosquitoes seem smaller and nastier than last year.

There was a thread of thunder storms and hail late yesterday, but we never got touched by even a trickle of rain.

Supposed to see rain this afternoon and into the evening.

Enjoy the new roof - make sure there's a good landing spot for Santa's Sleigh.

Poor O'Malley! Palmer is afraid of fans, too, so I just keep the windows closed and the curtains shut until it cools/gets dark out. So far, so good, but today has been rather humid. We reached 86* and a thunderstorm with rain showers rolled through. Lasted long enough to send the work crew home. One guy came back a few hours later and chainsawed all the bushes down on two sides of the house. I am already missing my lilac bushes.

Palmer hid under the kitchen table for most of the day. When she finally came out of hiding, she started following me every where I went. Right now she is sleeping by my feet. She was okay when the one guy was on the roof measuring, but when the crew starts to take off the old and put on the new, she is going to go into hiding big time. I will be staying home with her, but I'm not sure she'll even notice I'm there. Later in the summer the furnace will be replaced and according to the last repairman out here, it will be a two day process as a lot of the duct work has to be changed, too. I've already made plans to lock her in the bathroom, which will be the quietest room during the installation.

The mosquitoes are every size imaginable, all way too big for my liking. I know that they are a food source for bats, frogs, etc. and that to decimate the population would be hazardous to the food chain, but I wish they didn't exist!

The utility room roof is fairly flat with only a slight downward slope and the roofers are going to get rid of the satellite dish up there, so all will be good for Santa to land the sleigh! Getting to the chimney will be tricky as it is on the side of the roof with the steep peak, but I trust Santa will be able to deliver without any problems! :)

Enjoy your long weekend!!
xx

Morning all!
I am doing my best to catch up having been AWOL for the last few days.
Husband has unwillingly returned to work today after 10 days off. We have had a lovely time, been out and about, enjoying each others company etc and then the old grouch returned this morning whilst he was getting ready for work (to be fair it was hot here last night so I don't think he slept well either) so I will just leave him to it and crack on

The sunshine has finally arrived here in Wales from across the continent and boy is it warm. Its currently sitting around 15 degrees (59F) and we are due to get to about 25 (77F) this afternoon........considering Wales is mostly rain a good 90% of the year - this is tropical for us......we literally skip Spring altogether and go straight from cold weather to boiling hot so I am suffering at the minute. Apparently over the weekend though we are meant to see our hottest days on record for the year and will be hitting 30 (86F) Needless to say my poor black doggies are suffering and are currently curled up in front of a fan :)

Put sun cream on my daughter this morning and my hand went all tingly so hoping that that settles but may have to look into a new sun cream!

On the plus side it does mean that I have tackled the garden (and am still tackling it) Husband managed to successfully avoid electrocution after cutting through the hedge trimmer lead as well but short circuited the house in the process.

Today mostly involves reclaiming the house after him being off, listing things on Ebay and some more gardening.....mainly moving stuff.

Hope your all well

That sounds lovely. we dont get all those flavoured creams here but they sound lovely.

Stay hydrated ~ that heat wave sounds horrific! Enjoy the gardening and reclaiming your house! :)

That is so sweet of Henry to sweep the porch for you!
Best of luck to your brother!
Stay cool & hydrated!

That sounds perfect! :)

Morning All,

Well the scales topped at 30 degrees yesterday and then sat at a miserable 17 degrees overnight so it has been rather uncomfortable and not helped by puppy getting restless at 4am. Its meant to be slightly cooler today but we will see. At least I can get more done in the garden.

Also my saga with the dog food that poisoned the dogs goes on.
I finally heard back from the company with a report about the tinned dog food which has all come back fine (which I suspected it would) but I said my issue wasn't with the tins - it was with the mixer I handed back in with it as there was no best before date on the bag - to which I received a reply saying there was no mixer handed in, tested or reported. I have since reassured her that it was handed back in the same day and that she can check her systems she will see that I did. Failing that I am sure her CCTV will have evidence of me handing it back in. ....... and so the fight continues.

He was having fun doing the yard work and decided he wanted to offer his weed pulling services to the neighborhood.
Awww that is so sweet of Henry - I hope he gets a few people asking for his services.

Hubby and I are going to test drive a few tomorrow so we shall see. Other then that it's to hot and icky to do anything else outside. Hope everyone has a great day
Good Luck Minta finding a new car. Have fun test driving,

Meceka - I hope Palmer is ok
AuntieMistletoeDear - I hope O'Malley is going ok with your roofing being done.

Angus is now 16 weeks old and has decided 4am is a suitable time to start wandering round the bedroom. I think if he carries on I may have to put him in the crate at bedtime to keep him still.

Apart from that today will consist of more washing, more gardening, staying hydrated (Thanks Meceka) and time with the kiddiwinks!

Have a good day fellow festive folk!

Happy Last Weekend of June MMC! A humid Saturday morning here. Still not a bad day for the summer. We've had a lot of nice Saturdays in a row. We may get a few thunderstorms later though. Just got some Saturday errands to do today. Just can't fathom we're almost halfway through the year now. Have a great Last Weekend of June!

Nothing like waking up and seeing the world metling outside. Guess place for me right now is on the couch with come Pumpkin Spice coffee i picked up at Big Lots yesterday and watching Christmas Encore" on Hallmark M&M.

Nothing beats sleeping in just a bit on the weekend and waking up with nothing to do ❤️ Hooray for Saturday!

Reading, grocery shopping, and some chores are on the docket for today, along with a workout. A pretty slow Saturday!

Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday! Also, can’t wait for CIJ tonight and tomorrow!!! Can’t believe it’s already at the preview weekend!!!
