What with the heat and humidity and the stress of the past few days I found myself rather exhausted today so I'm working on stuff I let pile up a bit too long ~ the dreaded paperwork.

There was some good news: my brother is back in the VA hospital and tomorrow he starts a rehab program. The oncologist is having a PET scan done and the chemo department is trying to get things moving forward, too. My brother is much happier in his new room and he is sounding a lot better, too. :)

Stay cool and hydrated!

Good Wednesday morning, Christmas friends!

I asked my father-in-law if he slept better with his new alarm system installed. He said he turned it off when the train came through town, because he was afraid the train would set it off. Then he turned it off when he got out of bed a couple times to go to the restroom. LOL I explained that the train wouldn't set it off, and that there isn't a motion detector in his bedroom, but he didn't seem convinced. Maybe he'll get comfortable with it soon.

Jacob has gone on "tour" with another musician friend of his, lining up gigs from Charleston, SC to Buffalo, NY in a two-week trip during his summer break from school. Neither Nancy nor I are too happy about him travelling around like that, sleeping in the car or cheap motels along the way, but his mind was made up. I'd appreciate prayers for his safe return home.

Elizabeth was interviewed yesterday for a radio commercial for Mary Poppins, and she's doing a local TV interview next week. Our daughter, the celebrity!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

It's your job to worry about your son; it's his job to show you how grown up he is and return safely. My brother left home before finishing high school to further his music career. He got a part-time job at a video store, played in his band on weekends and managed to take the last three credits he needed to finish school and get his grade 12 diploma. He never regretted it. I'm sure it will work out for Jacob.

My brother started out in many theater productions over the years and I thought he would go into acting, but the music bit him harder.

Cheering for Elizabeth and the cast for a great review of one of my childhood favourites.

Glad to hear your brother is getting good care; prayers continue.

I was feeling pretty tapped and zapped today at work. I cancelled dinner plans with my friend, we'll try and go out tomorrow.

I'm thinking it's a mix of hot-humid weather and too many Advil trying to subdue my migraine.

Migraine is subsiding, but now I feel drugged.

So, O'Malley and I are heading off to the Pines. He is already thumping his tail on the floor impatiently.

Keep a merry thought in your head!

Another fun-filled Shispering Pines event!!!

I don't know how Carl convinces me to join in performing with him and O'Malley cat. Maybe it was the splash of mulberry wine mixed in with the berry blend tea that made me do it.

Here's the song we performed in front of the merry crowd.

If It Were Christmas! By: AuntieMistletoeDear (adapted from Topol’s - If I Were A Rich Man from: Fiddler on the Roof) as performed by Carl the camel, O'Malley the cat and Auntie M ...

If it were closer to Christmas
Daidle, deedle, daidle, digguh,
Digguh, deedle, daidle, dum
All day long, I’d decorate my home
If it were closer ho, ho, hum.

Wouldn’t have to trim the tree much
Daidle, deedle, daidle, digguh,
Digguh, deedle, daidle, dum
I’d bake some cookies and pies
Hang the lights for the glow of evening skies.
I’d build a big tall snowman with a top hat
And all sorts of frills and things like that
A fine broomstick and perhaps a friend
Who knows where the mistletoe be at
I’d fill my yard with ferris wheels, festive wooden soldiers
A Christmas village and a Nativity - perhaps
I’d build one snow fort for the grandkids to play in
It’d be warm with hot cocoa to serve and gingersnaps

I wouldn’t have to wait much
Santa would be arriving soon
I would wrap gifts by the dozen
Right in the middle of the living room
With ribbons and bows and pretty paper
And special festive tags to match

The people in the town would come to me and wonder
Where’d she get the Christmas spirit from - ours seem under wrap
And how’d she manage to play music from her computer
Piping it out in the streets for all to hear while trying to nap
And amazingly they’d gaze at the revolving Merry-Go-Round
Taking them back to childhood joys and awe

I would watch Christmas movies all night
Daidle, deedle, daidle, digguh
Digguh, deedle, daidle, dum
This would be the sweetest thing of all!!!

The food was great - perfect summer grill mixed with festive treats.

Woke up at 3:36 partly from the thunder, partly from O'Malley reacting to the Thunder. It's okay, I went to bed at 9:00 and didn't toss and turn too much so I probably got 6 hours of sleep.

The thunder and lightening has subsided, it's still raining, but lightly at present. Expected to continue off and on. I was hoping it would cool things off a bit, but it's a warm rain as it's 19/66. Severe thunder warning remains - will probably wrap back around several times before the day is out. That's okay, I'm working indoors. I think I have one umbrella at work, a spare in the car so I'll have to take the golf size one if the rain doesn't quit by 7:30.

The weekend is in sight and boy oh boy am I ever looking forward to two weeks of vacation. I had to pick up my dad at his mechanic shop yesterday as he took the car in to repair the AC before our road trip. I'm happy about that because it wasn't blowing much.

Enjoying some steeped tea in my Santa plaid coffee mug. C'mon who drinks tea from a tea cup these days?

Keep a merry thought in your head and think cool and tasty thoughts too...

Happy Friday Eve!! So my daughter's team lost but oh well...all the girls were ok with it. I think they were more sad they won't see all the girls on a regular basis. Tonight we are headed to Long Island to see my cousin and her family. Looks like we will have some more warm days and maybe some storms at some point. We'll see...tis the season! Hope you all have a great day!

They had a great run!

Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

I broke my lawn mower yesterday, and I have no one to blame but myself. I've operated it all season without checking the oil, because I'm always in a hurry. Well, I just paid the price. Now I have to rebuild the engine. And the lawn is half mowed!

I think Bernie is more satisfied with his new alarm system now. I went over and explained the operation to him again, and he was much more comfortable using it. I hope it helps him.

And I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Happy Pines Day All

Sorry I have been slightly AWOL the last few days enjoying the hot weather, hiding from the sun, sorting the garden and preparing for birthdays.

My daughter turns 9 on the 14th and I turn 35 on the 17th so I am busy planning her birthday cake at the minute for her which I will bake on Saturday and assemble for her on Saturday night. So that is taking some planning - she must be the only girl I know who wants a unicorn and skull themed bedroom!

Anyway we have also decided on the 17th to go away camping for the night with the 3 dogs to a pretty little campsite over in west wales. Theres a nice little harbour and a lovely little town called St Davids just down the road so it will make for some nice walks I hope. Fingers crossed the weather stays nice.

Im also having quite an educational week as well. So far this week I have learnt ......
1. Sunscreen in the eye hurts like hell
2. It doesn’t taste any better
3. My garden is uneven - you will roll your ankle if you are not paying attention
4. Never leave the puppy unattended with toilet roll within said puppy’s reach whilst in garden.
5. Whilst retrieving toilet roll from puppy, bear in mind other 2 dogs will see this as a fun game and join in.
6. It’s sometimes easier to admit defeat. Clean toilet roll up later.
7. Putting up a 6 man tent by yourself is not an easy task - there’s a reason it says two are needed to put it up
8. If you check the tent bag before hand you won’t have a wonky tent because you missed one piece of pole!
9. Trying to do anything in the garden at 11.30 on a sweltering day when you hate sunshine was never going to be a good idea to begin with!

Thankfully today is cooler and I am not melting as much.

I have also decided this year that me and the kids will do some link to hope boxes. It is very much like the operation Christmas child shoe boxes but with these you fill them with small gifts for a family so everyone gets a present or you can fill it for an elderly person. I think the spirit of giving will be nice in itself but also a nice way to remember my grandad at Christmas too by helping out an elderly gent who needs it.

Good news on the family front too
FIL had his next bout of chemo and despite being a little sick has managed to go back to work
Zac my sons friend with Leukaemia is home and was just gifted a small wooden shed so he is able to sit out in the garden and enjoy the summer (he needs the shade as he has become intolerant to direct sunlight)
Chris my friend with the same leukaemia who was put into a coma is home! He is doing well, learning to walk again well and taking it easy but if youd of told me that this time last month Id of been shocked. I was preparing myself for the worst! Just goes to show God knows what hes doing.

So all in all its been a good week. Also set up my own little side project / business etc selling imported goods and have already had two orders so thats going well too :)

Happy days!

Hope your all having a great day , enjoying sunshine, relaxing or whatever your doing! I will catch up on the thread for the few days I missed but if I did miss any birthdays /anniversaries /celebrations/ achievements etc - well done! Congrats! Good Job! Happy Birthday / Anniversary!

And hugs to all or any who need them :)

Glad to hear about the positive things coming from your way! Your stories make me laugh!

Happy 7-11 MMC! It's my mom's birthday so we're taking her out for dinner. And it's also free slurpee day! Other than that I'm off these next 4 days so going to enjoy a little break from work. Have a great 7-11!

Happy Birthday to your mom!
