Happy Halloween MMC! Wow the first of the Big 3 is here. Unbelievable. I love Halloween as many of you know and the whole month of October. It's been awesome. It's kind of a rainy and mild Halloween here. But I'm sure the kids will find a way to get out there and get there candy. Looking forward to a nice dinner and some Halloween shows with candy this evening. Have a Happy Halloween!

Good Morning and Happy Halloween, my Friends!
Seems like we sure got to this point in the year awfully fast, didn't we? Is there any reason to believe the march on to the Christmas Season, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's won't come just as fast?

Well, regardless. On with the count.
(And we will now add Thanksgiving in to replace Halloween.)

Days to the Season: 13 (UNDER two weeks off, now!)
Days to Thanksgiving: 28 (Four weeks from today!)
Days to Christmas Day: 55 (Below the eight week mark!)
We have a short bit to go before the Christmas Season begins, but the Holiday Season is definitely under way!

Rainy yesterday and a bit on the coolish side. Today is supposed to see us into the low 80's before it rapidly cools off with possible severe weather later in the evening, fortunately AFTER the trick-or-treaters should all be gone.
Currently, we stand at 70 degrees here and it's rather overcast after some overnight rain.

Well, a good time was had by all at the 'Pines yesterday evening. Sure enough, O'Malley did show and provided a number of the jump scares in Carl's "Haunted Inn". And his skit with Carl was quite inspired.
(And weren't those Halloween-themed fired twinkies tasty?)

Have a Spooky and Thrilling Halloween Thursday, Guys!

Happy Halloween, Christmas friends!

It's still wet, humid and warm here. I think it's supposed to be near 90°F today, but a cold front is coming tonight bring much cooler temps tomorrow. I wish it would come early; Halloween should have cool weather!

I think Jim is bringing Rosa to Trick-or-Treat in Bellville, so I'm charging-up the golf cart for them.

I hope y'all have a spooky day! :D

Good, wet Tuesday morning, Christmas friends!

As implied, it's really raining this morning. I was in a meeting in the main office this morning. When the meeting was over, I tried to walk back out to my office trailer with my laptop, but had to get a trash bag to keep it from getting wet. I sure will be glad when my new office is finished.

I think we're planning to have Thanksgiving at our house this year! It will be the first time, but Nancy and I are trying to find a way to spend time with both of our families on "neutral" ground, where everyone will feel at home. I hope it works!

And I hope y'all have a great day! :D

I think you'll find that it works out just fine. DH and I have all the holidays at our house now, with both our immediate families at ours. We do all the cooking as well and have everyone bring something if we need it, but it works out so nicely, because we're all together. We've come to really love it and so do both side of our families.

I ran some errands this morning and ended up stopping by at Hobby Lobby. Big mistake. All Christmas stuff was 50% off. I don't have the willpower for that! But, I hoard all of my gift cards received throughout the year because I know that I will have to buy a few new Christmas things. I made it out of there with 9 ornaments and a glass framed Grinch picture with him saying the "perhaps Christmas doesn't come from a store..." phrase. All for $33.00! Not too bad, and it all fit on a gift card I had with room to spare! That means a return visit in my future!

Hobby Lobby has got me too! I've been there three times in the last two weeks!

Merry Tuesday!

It so does not feel like a Tuesday so I'm thinking thinking that this is going to be a really long week!

In good news, my brother's bone scan came back negative and he ate even more PB & J sandwiches yesterday. :)

That is such wonderful news, Meceka!

Thank you to all for the continued prayers and positive thoughts.
My mother in law is slowly improving. She is still in the hospital, but they seem to have the infection under control.
My father in law is struggling with his back, but he is being able to manage the pain currently. He has an appointment in a little over a week to see if they can put cushions between his broken vertebra to reduce the pain and pressure on his spine.
My wife is still making a lot of trips back and forth, but she has been able to go back to work this week and just make trips in the evening.

Thanks again to all!

Glad to hear your MIL is improving. Continued prayers for you all, ITP.

Good evening everyone! I hope you're doing well.
I had a myelogram last Friday which lead to a massive headache Saturday, felt a lot better Sunday, then the headache returned with vengeance on Monday. So today I ended up back at the hospital for blood patch. My headache is gone but now my back is killing me. I just can't win. Hopefully in the morning all will be well again. Have a blessed night and I'll see you all tomorrow. :)

Sorry to hear about this, Rich. Hope you are feeling better now.

Merry Morning and Happy Halloween -grinch-

I'd love to have gone out as the Grinch just once.

It looks like it is going to be a messy Halloween night for the kiddies ...

Weather alert is calling for mixed precipitation with snow later tonight and may also become mixed with ice pellets - should settle down by morning. This is the expected first snowfall for my neck of the woods with an anticipated 15cm; driving conditions and walkways could prove hazardous.

I was thinking about Halloween in my youth and I don't recall the weather putting a damper on the trick-or-treating outings.

My last spooky walk about was in 1977 and although there were strong wind gusts, it wasn't wet. That year I considered not going out because I thought I was getting too old for it. My dad offered to help us with our costumes. He used a gray and brown wig from the Joke Shop and spirit gum (glue) to transform us into Hollywood like werewolves. I was the gray one, my brother was the brown one.

A friend of ours wanted to join us, but he was dressed as a dead hockey player because he couldn't afford a costume. My dad came to the rescue and he made a cardboard flat surface for his head painted black with tin foil bolts, ski boots with dark clothes and make up to transform him into Frankenstein.

We had a great time and covered about 6 miles; our pillow cases were so heavy, we should have started where we ended and worked our way closer to home, but hey, we were kids and had the strength to get it done.

Lots of people thought we had masks on at first because our furry faces were so well done.

The following year we were too old to head out so we went all out and created a spooky welcome for trick-or-treaters. We had a ghost rigged up to a clothes line that slid down to the door when we pulled the cord. We had a speaker on the roof and played a recurring recording of a friend of mine with her cackling banshee scream and reversed the ELO to hear (the music is reversible but time is not - turn back, turn back) we added extra turn backs to it along with some ghostly sounds. We had dry ice from the butcher in two roast pans creating fog at the doorway. We dressed up to give out treats. We had to chase a few children down to give them their treats because they were too afraid to come to the door.

We always gave out packs of Kool-Aid or Freshie and for children in awesome costumes or those we knew, we added Wagon Wheels or Caramels to their plastic pumpkins or pillow cases.

Those were two of my favourite Halloweens.

What great memories. Thanks for sharing! I love it.

Good morning and Happy Halloween, MMC family! Bummer here - trick-or-treat has been rescheduled until Saturday due to the weather. I'm not posting to start a debate (because in the area I live in, it's been a huge debate), but I can see both sides of it, but they at first had done it because of heavy rain, but now it is supposed to possibly thunderstorm, so I get that. The temperature is supposed to still be almost 70F, in PA mind you during trick-or-treat. I think parents just need to use their judgement, but I am glad they rescheduled now since it is supposed to thunderstorm. We had planned on putting a tarp or some type of canopy over DH's truck and making sure the kids didn't get wet and also making sure they wore jackets, but unfortunately, I think they have to think about the majority of kids who won't have parents with them and will be walking in the rain. It's sad, but true and as DH, my parents, and I all said, it's just rain, a lot of people don't agree, so like I said, it's not a debate, just stating facts. LOL. Anyway, since it still is Halloween, my kids look forward to this day every year, because I always make trick-or-treat night special for them. I plan on having the house more decorated, playing Halloween music, playing Halloween themed games and watching Halloween themed movies/specials, and then having a special dinner. DH and I were both off this evening too and he is going to be out of town all weekend teaching, so I want to make sure he is included tonight with them. I'll at least be off with them on Saturday.

Sorry for the long winded post. I hope you all enjoy. Have a spooky day!!!
