Good Morning, Eve'ers!

Ah, indeed. The first of our string of holidays arrives tomorrow in the form of Halloween.
(And if that doesn't get you started into the holiday feel, you may need to adjust your antenna.)

Days to Halloween: 1 (TOMORROW!!)
Days to the Season: 14 (TWO weeks from TODAY!)
Days to Christmas Day: 56 (Eight weeks from today!)
(As of tomorrow, the holidays are here!!)

How long will this warm weather last? The weather service says through today and tomorrow. Then we start to turn cold at night, with possible freezing overnight lows by Sunday.
Our morning has begun here with a light rain, at 63 degrees.

OK! It's Halloween at the 'Pines! And with Carl in charge, there is no telling what might happen. The inn has been inexplicably closed the last couple of days and rumor has it that Carl is transforming the place into a haunted house!
There will be the usual black and orange frosted fired twinkie of course. Pumpkins and other Halloween decorations will abound. Halloween-themed movies will air in the theater. And as for O'Malley, we have not heard from Auntie in that regard but what's Halloween without a cat, not to mention Carl's little bestie.
All in all, sounds like an open house not to miss!

Until we see you there then, have a truly Wonderful Wednesday, Everybody!

Good evening everyone! I hope you're doing well.
I had a myelogram last Friday which lead to a massive headache Saturday, felt a lot better Sunday, then the headache returned with vengeance on Monday. So today I ended up back at the hospital for blood patch. My headache is gone but now my back is killing me. I just can't win. Hopefully in the morning all will be well again. Have a blessed night and I'll see you all tomorrow. :)

Sending prayers, I hope you feel better.
xx

Thanks Crown! Happy Halloween Eve!

Happy Halloween Eve MMC! I can't believe it will be tomorrow. I am really enjoying these Halloween lights out there. Our neighborhood seems more lit up this year than usual for Halloween. Have a great Halloween Eve!
There are a whopping four houses, in our neighborhood, decorated for Halloween. I hope this isn't a sign of Christmas yet to come...

O'Malley was waiting at the door when I got home from work with a sack; very unusual. He couldn't wait to get in the car - those boys are up to something. We're on the way.

Wow. Thats awful. Hope tomorrow is a better day. Praying for you

Prayers for feeling 100% again. Take it easy.

Let's hope you regain strength soon - are you having trouble with your spine?

Get better - Christmas is coming.

Oh no! Sending a prayer for you, too.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Sending prayers, I hope you feel better.
xx

@Rich, praying you are better soon!
Thank you all so much. Your prayers mean the world to me. I am feeling so much better today. I'm back to 95% and expect to be 100% by tomorrow. I've had back issues for years including adding some rods and screws back in December of 2016. Now I'm having some issues above that hardware. Hopefully some physical therapy will help alleviate my pain.

Happy Spooky Halloween Day

Yes, Binger it was a fun night at the Pines; I skipped out of the dance hall after the fourth go around for the Monster Mash and headed into the haunted house.

The costumes were scary - I was half devil half witch with a touch of crazy dancing lady on the side.

O'Malley dressed up as a Puma in a crevice - not what I'd call original.

Carl wasn't fooling anyone with his costume.

The haunted house, food, ghost walk and the skit Carl and O'Malley put on were heaps of fun.

It was a spooktacular evening.

Happy Halloween!

Hope you all have a great day. What are your plans? My eldest is at school but my youngest is home on half term break. We will spend the day watching Halloween shows and baking some Halloween short bread until everyone is home. Quiet night in for us with snacks, food and movies while we hand out candy.

Merry Morning and Happy Halloween -grinch-

I'd love to have gone out as the Grinch just once.

It looks like it is going to be a messy Halloween night for the kiddies ...

Weather alert is calling for mixed precipitation with snow later tonight and may also become mixed with ice pellets - should settle down by morning. This is the expected first snowfall for my neck of the woods with an anticipated 15cm; driving conditions and walkways could prove hazardous.

I was thinking about Halloween in my youth and I don't recall the weather putting a damper on the trick-or-treating outings.

My last spooky walk about was in 1977 and although there were strong wind gusts, it wasn't wet. That year I considered not going out because I thought I was getting too old for it. My dad offered to help us with our costumes. He used a gray and brown wig from the Joke Shop and spirit gum (glue) to transform us into Hollywood like werewolves. I was the gray one, my brother was the brown one.

A friend of ours wanted to join us, but he was dressed as a dead hockey player because he couldn't afford a costume. My dad came to the rescue and he made a cardboard flat surface for his head painted black with tin foil bolts, ski boots with dark clothes and make up to transform him into Frankenstein.

We had a great time and covered about 6 miles; our pillow cases were so heavy, we should have started where we ended and worked our way closer to home, but hey, we were kids and had the strength to get it done.

Lots of people thought we had masks on at first because our furry faces were so well done.

The following year we were too old to head out so we went all out and created a spooky welcome for trick-or-treaters. We had a ghost rigged up to a clothes line that slid down to the door when we pulled the cord. We had a speaker on the roof and played a recurring recording of a friend of mine with her cackling banshee scream and reversed the ELO to hear (the music is reversible but time is not - turn back, turn back) we added extra turn backs to it along with some ghostly sounds. We had dry ice from the butcher in two roast pans creating fog at the doorway. We dressed up to give out treats. We had to chase a few children down to give them their treats because they were too afraid to come to the door.

We always gave out packs of Kool-Aid or Freshie and for children in awesome costumes or those we knew, we added Wagon Wheels or Caramels to their plastic pumpkins or pillow cases.

Those were two of my favourite Halloweens.
