Thanksgiving 2024 Thread

I am pretty impressed by how many people do have a tradition of having pizza for Halloween. And Thanksgiving. There is a place here that does pizza with a pumpkin face so that makes it perfect. On on Thanksgiving eve, if just seems the prep is so heavy duty that pizza just helps keep the stress down.

I agree — Halloween isn’t a “big family meal” type of holiday, and that’s where pizza comes in. Kind of like the quick meal you have before going out to enjoy trick or treating, or maybe you attend a Halloween party and eat the pizza there.

And pizza on Thanksgiving Eve is almost a universal given at this point. There’s so much prep to do for the big day, so pizza is an easy “day before” option.
 
I returned to my Halloween pizza tradition this year and will continue that for next year.

I always do turkey for Thanksgiving. That is the one I won't budge on.

I have loosened up Christmas food traditions. This year was the first year we ordered out catering for Christmas. It gave my wife a huge break and it was really good. We have made something different each year the past couple of years also, from Italian to southern Christmas.

Easter is usually ham but I would be flexible with this meal also.

I would never budge on turkey on Thanksgiving.

Happy New Year’s Eve! Today folks we move along into the final day of the year and look at our counts as follows: 333 days till Thanksgiving, 306 days till November, and 245 days till The Bers. Our next milestone will arrive TOMORROW friends when we welcome in the Arrival of January. The beginning of a new month will be quite exciting my friends. And I hope all of you are here to celebrate the start of a brand new year. Best wishes to everyone in the new year as we close out officially in this thread our Happy Holidays period. What a period it’s been friends. I love it so much. It’s so special. It’s so magical. But I admit though I couldn’t do this all the time lol. It really is a bit tiring. But the Winter Wonderland is in front of us now and maybe a good excuse to hibernate, catch up on reading (I bought 2 big books 700 and 800 pages each) to start the new year. And then just chill out with family. Eat some good food but maybe a little healthier than during the holiday season. And of course, be here with all of you. My friends, turkeys started this whole thing. The ball dropping tonight ends it. And tomorrow is a new beginning for everyone. We continue into the 2nd half of our quiet weekend period. And we begin a new year tomorrow with a full week of our 5-daily topics. Every weekday you can expect it. I think we have a great mixture/flow. Let me know if you agree or not. Happy New Year's eve to all! I am glad I am at "the end" of this awful last week of December. I was off for all of it and I think that has what has helped it not be so bad. I have had some moments here and there where PCB's have flared up a little bit but it hasn't been so bad.

I am ready for the new year to start. I mentioned earlier that 2023 I was kind of in "survival mode". I had to leave my job for the past 13 years in May so I wouldn't get laid off, then my Dad had to have surgery, my Mom's dog died in June, my Grandma had a heart attack in August, and got pneumonia, and then my beloved Sophie passed away that same month. I hope that in 2023 I can "settle in" and get back to normal.

I love having the 5 days of daily topics! Please don't change a thing!

May 2024 bring you all that you desire, but remember: there is no such thing as normal. There is healthy and I believe you handled all your change in a healthy manner, so I would recommend you give yourself credit for that!

Happy New Year! Today folks we have 332 days remaining until Thanksgiving, 305 days left until November, and 244 days to go until The Bers. We have reached our next milestone which is the Arrival of January. Ahh yes not everyone’s favorite month but absolutely a necessary month to enjoy as much as we can. We have the freshness of a new year, leftover Christmas lights, and NFL playoffs to look forward to in January. Our next milestone will be on Saturday when we reach the 300-Day Marker till November. I love milestones but I really love Saturday Milestones even more. Turkey friends it’s Monday so let’s start off our 5-day topics with Monday’s weekly topic which is our Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving Week which now stands at 47 weeks. Indeed, we are settling now into the long haul folks. A new year has begun. And all of the year is ahead of us including Halloween, Thanksgiving (of course), and Christmas. Ahh let it stay on the other side of the calendar friends. I love looking at it far off in the distance smiling at the thought of all of those times while focusing on the present.
