Annette: I think President's Day is always the third Monday in February, so this year being the 15th, it would be the earliest date that it ever could be. You are correct, it is earlier this year
The name of the federal holiday is actually Washington's Birthday. As Presidents Day or Presidents' Day, it is also the official name of a state holiday celebrated on the same day in about a dozen states.

The sun is out here in indiana and the wind has finally died down. No snow today thankfully but more coming in tomorrow night. Not much on the agenda for today besides watching the nascar races. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You sent the snow my way! cheesy
Enjoy the races this weekend!

Allo Everybody!!! Just a bunch of rain here on my part of the planet!

How did it get to be Friday Eve already???? Hope you are all having a great week!!!

My son and I built this 4 ft (approximate) snowman across the street from my house at an elementary school. We are going to watch the kids get out of school and possibly destroy it, lol. Now watch them be real nice and leave it alone but we don't mind them having fun with it. cheesy

That's awesome! Keep us post on whether or not Frosty ends up getting tackled. *L*

He actually got destroyed nearly 2 hours before school even let out! I did see some teenagers running around on the field around that time. We wanted to watch them bring it down but missed it.

We are about to break a record for the most snowfall in one day. There is almost 6 inches of snow now and it's still falling. I know that is not much for you folks up north but a lot here! cheesy They expect bad road conditions over night and already closed all the schools. They have reported 41,000 outages in our area. The pictures I posted on here are from this morning and it has not stop snowing. It has snowed 13 straight hours.

I would love to know more about old fashioned Christmas walks. Thanks for message.

Thanks for your interest.
:tree: It's great to attend once or twice, but pretty much the same things happen year after year. I guess most traditions feel the same so it's not a bad thing. Not everyone dresses in costumes, but there are enough people wearing clothes that look like they stepped out of a Dicken's Carol roaming the streets of downtown. They block off five city blocks so it's safe for people to walk on the road not just the sidewalks. You have to watch out for the horse drawn sleigh though. They begin with lighting the town tree.

There's a "Town Crier" and the Mayor and his wife show up with a few dignitaries and of course Santa Claus and the Mrs. are there and spend at least three hours listening to the secret wishes of the children (and adults) who wish to share them. They're set up by the tree. I'm never very impressed with the tree, but I join the others in saying "oooh and ahhh" because it's Christmas. They arrive by the sleigh. I love the horses that pull it, but they look a bit spooked by all the commotion. I'm not usually weary around horse, but these guys don't seem to enjoy the crowd much. They where half blinds to calm them down a bit. They have a few people following behind to catch the droppings that doesn't spoil the walk for anybody.

In nearly every shop their are discounts on items and free hot cider or hot cocoa with a few festive goodies to keep you in a Christmas state of mind.

On nearly every corner, there's a different style of music from a Quartet to a small represenation of a choir to a single person with a guitar strumming Christmas tunes. Quite often, we run into people we haven't seen in ten years or more that have come out to enjoy the walk.

The first year I went, I almost joined in, but my friend was too embarrassed to permit it. My husband doesn't join me. He doesn't like large crowds. I don't go every year. I went once many years ago and then joined in again for the last three years. Last year, I took my mom with me. We missed the tree lighting by fifteen minutes. We had a good time together. We don't spend as much time on our own as we used to before her partial stroke, but she was having such a grand time we were there for over two hours. That's where she always buys her Christmas cake. There are a few markets on the go for local artisans to sell festive items and goodies.

That's pretty much it.

:hello: Oh yes, one more thing ... My city still refers to it as "Old Fashioned Christmas Walk" not "Old Fashioned Holiday Walk". If they ever change the name to Holiday - I won't go. Afterall, they play Christmas music not holiday music and the people are supposedly shopping for Christmas presents.

Sorry, just about got into a rant there.

Wow. Knew we were doing well but didn't realize it was that well!
We're on fire, guys!

And with that, how can we help having a Good Morning!

Straight to the count, as we rapidly approach another Milestone:

Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Everyone!

Oh dear, it appears I might need glasses. I thought for sure I read "as we rapidly approach another Mistletoe" oh dear - it does say Milestone, doesn't it?

Gosh. What's that honey? (Talking to my husband) Oh, I see "he says it's Presbyopia my dear".

EEEK that's as bad as discovering my first grey eyelash yesterday. :-?

Good Morning MMC!

I finally got this machine to wake up and work!

It's Friday!
Start of a long weekend here in Ontario. Family day is on Monday.
Not entirely sure what we are going to do, most likely play a family game while enjoying a family lunch at the family table.cheesy

Morning all! Made, watched the first race on DVR but haven't got to the second yet! It's amazing to see people race for 125 miles and someone win by 6 inches!

Off to work....got ballgames again tonight. But I will be here first thing in the morning to drink coffee and visit! See yall then!

Here is a picture of my chihuahua, Chico, running in the snow. He is so interested in it since we rarely see it. My short haired chihuahua doesn't like it too much so I have to put her sweater on before she will go outside. I can't believe it's actually snowing and it's still coming down! Yay!

That looked like one happy dog!!

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all enjoying whatever weather you might be having. It seems like half the country is getting weather they're not quite used to! It's still snowing in my little neck of the woods. We're expecting just another inch today, but it's a constant flurry of snow out there right now.

I'm off work every other Friday now, so I hope to visit and catch up with you all at least every other week. I've missed this so much! I hope you all have a wonderful day!!
