Well it has been a pretty lousy day here. When me and mom got home from the hospital mom decided that she was gong to do some laundry. I have a portable washer since my apartment doesn't have a washer hookup in it. So the washers water supply line hooks to the bathroom faucet and the drain hose is desigend to wrap around it. I don't leave them hooked up when we are not using the washer because you can't use the faucet when they are. So when mom put in her laundry she hooked up the water supply hose but left the drain hose hanging on the side of the washer. We then walked down to my aunts apartment to tell her about our neighor. When we got back I walked into a flooded kitchen. Since she didn't put the drain hose in the sink it drained onto the bathroom floor and ran down the hall into the kitchen. So I had water everywhere and had to spend 3 hours cleaning the mess up. I would have been mad at her for not double checking but I know that we were both upset after leaving the hospital. I am thankful for the fact that our apartment building is only single story and I didn't have to worry about flooding any below me out and now I know that I need to go buy a new shop vac to have on hand since I got rid of my old one when mom sold the house and moved in with me.

Well I am going to try and get some sleep. Goodnight Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

I did serious damage on the charge card last year during the qvc show...

That is why mine stays locked in the safe while it is on. cheesy

They made the decision today to take her off of life support. My neighor called me this afternoon and wanted me and mom to come up to the hospital. We went up after mom got off of work and said our last goodbyes. We left the hospital about 6pm and they took her off of life support about 7:30. She passed away about a half hour later. I don't envy her husband for having to make that decision but she only had 6% of her brain activity left and there was no chance of her recovering. I know she always said that she didn't want to live like that so it was what she would have wanted. It has been a rough 6 days for her family and in a way I think they are glad that it is over and that they can now move on with the grieving process.

I'm so sorry to read of your neighbor/friend's passing...may everyone have a sense of peace as they work through their grief.
And then to have that big, watery mess to clean up...oh, my...I hope all is dry and back to normal now.

May your days be calm and easy...

Good morning and Happy Thursday!
Well, the first week of March is almost over...hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

May everyone have a lovely day! cheesy

Made, I'm sorry. Words can't make you feel better, but know (and I feel safe in saying this) that our thoughts are with you.

About to head out of town for the day, will be back tonight. Meant to post last night, but as I was reading I fell asleep! Boy, I sure have been tired the past couple of weeks. I've fallen off of the "working out" wagon for about two months and I've got to get back on.

Well friends, make it a great day!

So sorry to hear. ((hugs)) to all.

That's a drag! I had a similar situation. I started up my dishwasher one time and left the house. The sink back up and the whole dishwasher cycle flooded all over the place. It was a stinky mess when I got home. Then another time I ran my washing machine. This time I was home, thankfully. The hose busted and water was spewing all over the place and I shut it down immediately to clean it up. If I was gone it would have kept running. That's a lot of water! Then another time my dryer burned up. I was at home this time too, thankfully!

Now I never leave the house when I run anything. If I have to leave while any of that is running, I shut it off. You just never know what might happen. Burn down the house or flood it. Yikes!

Where in the heck is Stecoah, NC? I lived in NC most of my life and NEVER heard of it!!! Is it near Swannaoah??
It's west of Bryson City, near Robbinsville. In the Great Smoky Mountains...lucky guy!

I'm sorry about your neighbor and her family, Made.

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

We made our weekly pilgrimage to Wal-Mart last night. Ugh. But we also stopped by the countertop dealer to get prices. Nancy is going to MAKE me remodel the house. Of course, I get a flat screen TV in the deal, so I'm not too mad about it.

I hope you all have a great day! cheesy

Good Morning, Folks.

Another day, another count number:
Days to the Season: 254
Days to Christmas Day:296
Hey! Only 11 days to the 1/3 Season Milestone!
Incredible. They are really starting to fall!

Nice and sunny out with no wind.
We stand at 41 currently, bound for the low 50's by this afternoon.
Still looking for 60's by the weekend!

Tomorrow is Weekend Eve.
Have a Thrilling Thursday, Everyone!

That's terrible about your neighbour, made. My thoughts are definitely with that family, too. A true loss.

Not much on the agenda for today. I have alot of towels to wash since I used them to help soak up all the water last night. I have enough towels to last about a month and my mom always made fun of me for having so many but I was happy that I did last night. I also need to run to the grocery store and get some bread. I hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.

Good morning, everyone!

I am here a little earlier than usual today. Work is not too busy and I like it! The sun is shining bright again today. Unfortunately, the wind is up a bit, thus creating a windchill, but hopefully the sun can do plenty of damage on remaining snow. I am still hopeful that it will all be gone by Sunday, and with four days of clear skies in the forecast (including today), I think it may do the trick. Also, I just looked at the Spring forecast and it appears we will receive normal precipitaion and slightly below or average temperatures. No complaints here!

I did not talk to my mom last night, which I hope is a good thing. I'm sure they were busy packing and getting their last minute plans prepared for Cuba. Not a whole lot else is new. I'm excited for the gym tonight. Every Tuesday and Thursday I do a crossfit workout with a personal trainer - this is on top of going to the gym on my own on Mondays and Fridays (sometimes Wednesdays, too). The crossfit workouts are challenging but fun. I like pushing myself. Of course, there are usually others there doing different workouts, timing and encouraging me. We'll see how it goes again tonight.

I was supposed to work tomorrow, but it appears that I may not have to, which is kind of good. Only two more weeks (four days of work) left on my contract! This is good because I really need to focus on school and sports. Interestingly enough, they may bring me back after this.

Have a great Thursday, everyone! The weekend and single digits to the next milestone are so close!

Thanks Brad. We do consider ourselves blessed. Stecoah is just a small mountain community. We are right on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National park. We often have bears, deer, and turkey around our house. Robbinsville is our closest real town. It is about 14 miles from us. There are about 5,000 full time residents in our county, (Graham). It has been a snowy winter. From mid December to now we have had 38 inches.

At least you learned from a harmless flood and nothing tragic. cheesy I use to turn on everything, washer, dryer and dishwasher and leave the house. I never thought anything about it until I had a flood. Then I thought I better not do that again, lol.
