This totally breaks my heart. Many years ago, our pup got Parvo and it is a horrible disease. We found about it too late.

On our way to Target this morning started off sad. We were going down the road (very busy road) and saw 3 boys standing over a little dog who was laying on the curb shaking. I told Wayne maybe we should turn around and see if we can help. We went over there and this poor little dog, maybe 10 lbs., was laying there, labored breathing, eyes closed and trembling. They told me their dad saw the dog at 2:30 in the morning in the middle of the street and moved it to the curb. He said he called the pound but they have yet to come pick up the dog. I was kind of shock seeing it was almost 10:00 am and the dog was suffering this whole time. At that time a young lady came over to the dog and she didn't know who it belonged to but told me she sees dogs running around all the time outside. Wayne and I wrapped him in a blanket and told them we will take him to the vet and to let whoever know if they are looking for him what vet to call.

I took him into the vet office and it was crowded but they rushed him back to a room ahead of everyone else. I told them the situation and was really afraid they would send me somewhere else since it wasn't my dog. The vet took a look and said they will have to euthanize him. I thought since it was a stray is why they said that but I asked what would it cost to try to work on him and they explained that all the money in the world would not save him. They explained the condition but I forgot the name of it. Something to do with being paralyzed/coma with the labor breathing and he would not respond to anyone. Even though it was sad I was glad to see this poor little guy not suffer anymore.

I don't want to accuse this dog owner of neglect but I see it in my neighborhood, ALL THE TIME, people letting their dogs out the front door without a leash to go potty. I don't get it! They have backyards and don't use them for their dogs. We live in a very busy city with speeding cars all around. :-?

It has finally cooled off here in The Outer Banks of North Carolina...

My husband and I were just in the Outer Banks in July! I am originally from NC and visited my family this summer. The "humid ditty" just about got me down. I have been in California too long I guess!

How I remember those days. It is so hard to be a mom and see your kiddos sick. Mine are all grown now, but many things still affect them over which we have no control. Hope things are better with your family.

Good evening.

Today has been the longest of days and now I am feeling quite cruddy I have already decided to call out tomorrow. JP was supposed to go to a friends 6th birthday party, but between the pink eye and the fever he has had, we already called the mother and told her he will not be coming. I hope we will have a good night sleep, the kids have had a tough time so far staying asleep tonight.

Have a good night.

I hear your pain. All three of my kids (have four now) had chicken pox at the same time my husband was in another state for air traffic control school. My older son started hallucinating with such a high fever. I had to call 911 and then called my inlaws to take of the other two babies. It was the scariest night of my life--except when my number two son was diagnosed with leukemia 30 years after this night.

Good morning/afternoon,
I don't know which way is up at the moment, I am home with two kids running a fever right now, LC is at 103.1 and JP is at 100.4, so to say the least it has been very interesting today. I have already called out from work, because I am still waiting to hear from his Dr. to see if I should bring LC in but they're on lunch right now. I am stressed out beyond belief right now.
Today can only get better right?

One of my favorite quotes from the "real" Little Rascals--"Yum, yum, eat-um up." LOVE mac and cheese!!!

Then we had supper at my mother-in-law's restaurant. She caters parties, and this one was at her restaurant, so she called saying she had planty of leftovers. BBQ ribs, fried chicken, mac & cheese...mmm, mmm, mmm! cheesy

I am right there with you about summer and winter. Fall and winter are the BEST!!!

Mgramsey, You are right about being a prisoner. People talk about cabin fever during winter months. I get it during the summer more than I ever do in the winter. I try to step outside when the sun is barely out in the morning and it's already unbearable. My spirits are much higher during the winter months than they ever are during the summer! cheesy

It is hot here in CA right now. This past week, however, we did get down to 74 degrees on two days; then it was up into the 90s. I have the crockpot going with a tri-tip roast, onions, new carrots (vs. those old ones), Yukon gold potatoes, corn and a yummy cracked pepper gravy. I think dinner will be good tonight. The bonus is that I am listening to MMC Radio!!! Absolutely the best!

Charm City Rocks!!!!!! I just hope they sent along a sheet cake to go with the fighter plane cake. It looked like it would only feed 2 people.

New Headlights and Why I've Not Been Active!!!

Back in February, I had to pick up my son at UC San Francisco after a bone marrow transplant. It was late and very rainy. I kept telling my son that I could hardly see, that my lights were not bright enough. After I got home, I told my husband, and he "sanded" my plastic headlight covers. Nothing got better. So in early March, I ordered new headlights to the tune of over $300. Things did not seem to be a whole lot better. Then I went in to my opthamologist for a new prescription. After the exam, he walked back into the room and said, "When is the surgery?" I thought he was talking to his assistant about another patient. He repeated his question and looked at me. I said, "What surgery?" He said, "Cataract surgery!" I was FLOORED to say the least! Needless to say, I went for surgery as soon as possible! The results were AMAZING!!! Now wait just one minute. In late March, I continued to have a lot of what Southerners call "cricks in the neck." Nothing got better, so I went to the doctor again. At first, he thought I had gout; but I told him there was no way. He did xrays of my neck and said that it was not gout, but that I needed surgery on my neck because two vertebrae were "rubbing" against each other. SO, I went in for surgery on my neck. Before surgery, the doctor asked if I wanted to use a cadaver bone or a bone from my hip. "Please, please, please," I said " use my own bone from my hip." Right after the surgery, I though, "Wrong answer!!!" Recovery was sort of long for this old woman. THEN in July, my husband and I go on an across the USA trip to Orlando, then up to NC to visit family, and then even more across to visit my husband's relatives in Missouri, then home. Well, in Missouri, I fell, broke some ribs and injured my hip (yes, the one from which the bone for the surgery had been taken!!!). I went to the emergency room because I could not walk. Finally, many medicated days later, we arrived back home. THEN school began with 34 students, no aide, and LOTS of ADHD students (the second year in a row!)! ALL THAT BEING SAID, it is SO GOOD to be back on with no aches or pains (physically, at least). I must say, though, it is the PITS getting OLDER!!!!
