Already have been shopping, local grocery store had a 3 hour sale from 7am to 10am with some amazing prices so we just had to go. What a lot of people there! (some of which where very rude, most of which where very nice)

:family::happyturkey:

Hope you all have a fantastic day!

New Goal for Myself

Okay, Christmas friends. I just noticed my Post Count and decided I would like to reach 2000 before Christmas. Please help me. I will respond to all emails!

Cherylle in CA, who is a fast typist!

That is because here we get a long weekend, many having both the Friday and the Monday off. Yes, thanksgiving is on Monday, but we celebrate on the day when we can get the most family members together!
On Thanksgiving day just about everything closes down here as well.
Us Canadians are more reserved though and do not go crazy in the stores the next day, LOL! cheesy
A lot of us get a 4 day weekend Thursday-Sunday and it happens to be the busiest traveling time of the year. It makes headline news every year about the traveling.

Ha ha! Yes we are insane with shopping, aren't we? cheesy

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

I have a question to my Canadian friends.

I see that Thanksgiving is on Monday October 11 but I see you all celebrate throughout the weekend. Some are celebrating today some on Monday, etc.

Is it a full weekend celebration or do most celebrate on Monday only?

The reason I ask is here in U.S.A. majority celebrate on the day itself, last Thursday of November. Not that some don't celebrate on other days but for the most part it's the actual day.

Just about everything closes down on Thanksgiving like it would on Christmas Day too. Does everything close down for the special day?

Just curious! I wish you all a wonderful weekend! :dancingturks:

We've usually celebrated on Sunday or Monday. It all depends on when everyone can get together, I guess. Since it is on Monday, it is easier to adjust the celebration accordingly. Monday can be used as a travel day back home for those who have to travel and celebrate with family.

If we hope to engage children in the classroom, we need to begin engaging them in the manner they prefer.....technology. The devices and communication tools (texting) they use, ENJOY, and prefer.....we are too busy banning from schools. It just seems to me that we do things in school that adults prefer instead of what kids prefer. The secret to educating kids is getting them to buy in to what you are trying to do and make it enjoyable. I get sooooo tired of a traditional classroom because the kids are than they were 50 years ago. Heck, kids are different than they were 7 years, 5 years, and 3 years ago. Just frustrates me when we (educators) do what is easiest and most comfortable for us.

I entirely agree with this. Technology is the teaching of the future. Whether it be SMART boards, white boards, iPads, etc. My teachers college program is advanced and embracing the technological movement. Because of this, we all had to purchase mandatory Macbooks in order to to properly run software that will help us with our teaching lessons for many years to come. Children are more technologically advanced than ever before. Interactive learning is the way of now and the future, it is important that was use it in order to gain the attention of our future.

Good afternoon, everyone!

As I mentioned yesterday, I am back in Ottawa for three weeks. A friend texted me this morning at 9:30 asking if I wanted to go to the gym at 10 AM. I was about to get up anyway, but this shot me out of bed and I was quickly jogging to the gym. It was good to go to our local gym - I had not been there since July (I have been going elsewhere since).

It's a beautiful day in Ottawa today. The sun is shining and a welcomed cool fall breeze is in the air. Temperatures are to reach 55F. There is a frost warning for tonight, too. Yes, fall is in full swing! Kim and I are being picked up this evening to head to Cornwall where we will stay at her mom's house and celebrate Thanksgiving at her sister's on Sunday. I cannot fathom how excited I am for delicious food tonight and tomorrow. Dinner is tomorrow night, but Kim's mom is a fantastic cook and everything should be very good tonight.

The only unfortunate part about today - other than having to travel and hour to Cornwall - is that I have to do laundry. Darn. I really should get on that now!

Have a great Saturday, everyone! I will try and stop in as much as possible but I hope you all enjoy your long weekends! They are well deserved!

I did the math and realized I will need to type about 10 emails per day to reach that goal. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

Thanks. It might be a lofty goal, but I will give it my best!

cheesy Greetings Christmas Lovers!

Believe it or not, I have caught up since my last visit to the countdown. We are getting more chatty by the day it seems.

:hello: Well, like many of my Canadian chums, I am excited about this weekend. I booked Friday and Tuesday off because it's also my Wedding Anniversary Thanksgiving Weekend so I like to stretch out the celebration!

This morning, was a great start to the joy I experience this time of year. Christmas is surely my favourite holiday, but Fall is my favourite season.

Without further ado, I present a quick video of the beautiful shots I captured this morning.

:)) Tomorrow, we visit my parents early in the morning to exchange birthday gifts between my husband and my dad who celebrate on the same day. It was actually on the 5th, but we held off until the weekend to get together. The rest of the day is ours. We're going out for Chinese Food because that's what we ate at our Wedding then we return and watch the DVD of On Golden Pond that I picked up as a surprise for my husband. We watched that film three times back when we were courting. LOVE IT!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my Canadian Chums and Mo I'll make sure my husband has an extra slice of pumpkin pie in your honour. Think we'll be grabbing a few goodies from my mom. One of my brother's was up last weekend and since my God-Mother passed away last Spring, her four daughters don't have any reason to visit so I'm not expecting a big fancy dinner. We'll do a small turkey on Monday if my mom is baking one. We've got a few things handy to go with it.

:rudolph: Enjoy the rest of your day. Stay MERRY all weekend long!

Good Afternoon Everyone!!!!!!! It is a hot day here in central indy. We currently stand at 84 degrees on our way to 87. I decided to take a break from the fair and come home and cool down for awhile. I managed to get some gifts bought this morning and I broke down and bought one santa. I will have to add a picture of him this week. I met my sister there this morning and it was great to see how excitied my nieces were while watching the parade. Well I am off to rest for awhile before head back out and meet some friends for dinner and some good ole bluegrass music.

A big Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian neighbors and friends. I am getting our fall stuff out FINALLY. Yes I am far behind the past several years. We have had a very busy last several weeks. Our neighbor across the street told me he won this year and I told him I wasn't aware we were competing for anything. He smirks and walks off and calls me a dip**** and I of course spouted back that he needed to go play on a rusty merry go round (yes not very nice of me but I have had it with him and his family's antics).

AuntieMistletoeDear,

I am so JEALOUS of you! Not fair! I don't see nothing that pretty here. Lucky lucky lucky! You took some great pictures!

Also, Happy Anniversary!

We went to Hallmark today for their ornament premiere. They had a Christmas Vacation interactive ornament of when Clark Griswold plugs in the lights to his house. You press the button and the whole house lights up and plays Hallelujah. It's cute and silly!

We also went to Garden Ridge and they had LOTS of Christmas goodies out.

Made, do you have a Garden Ridge? Lots and lots of really nice Santa's. I told Wayne I wish I brought my camera to take some pictures for you.

Then we headed to Cracker Barrel and they had so many nice ornaments. All their Halloween stuff was 25 percent off. I picked up a really cute pumpkin decoration/toy that you push the head down and it lights up and pops up and says, "Happy Halloween"! and a few other phrases. I wanted to buy it awhile back and it was only $4.99 which I thought was good but then got the extra discount today.

We went to lunch and later went out for dessert. We had a great day!

I hope you all are having a nice Saturday!
