Glad to see you back again!

It sure sucks that his phone is gone, but what a wonderful uncle!

Love the cookie thing, do you have any pictures?

My girlfriend took a pic of him on the steps... when she emails it, I will post! I wish we had taken pictures of the cookie catastrophic, lol! It was so chaotic - he think he's a "chef" (mind you, he's 2.5!) and has a very good memory.. so as soon as he saw the rolling pin and flour, he grabbed a handful of flour, dumped it on the dough, and then attempted to cut out shapes. Hilarious!!! My dining room and kitchen were a mess, but memories are made of that sort of thing! :???:

howdy my friends.

sitting at home watching cold case and just chill....been at the christmas party of Kandice Field Hockey Club today...it was cute....St. Nick came and gave out a little Nikolaus Present (a cute little plushed puppy wearing a neck scarf with the emblem of the hockey club, a chocolate nikolaus, an apple and an orange)....the coaches also went out with them to play in the snow and fun stuff like that.

the cutest was the little ones singing a German christmas song In Der Weihnachtsbäckerei (in the christmas bakery) to St. Nikolaus....the funny thing....Kandice was loudest almost yelling the words so Nikolaus could hear her....what a blessed day

You might have heard my jaw hit the playground today. At the end of first recess, the principal came up to me and informed me a student was being removed from my classroom and placed with another third grade teacher on Monday. She said the mom said I was disrespectful to her at the parent/teacher conference!!! I was absolutely appalled! The teacher who is receiving the child said the mom came to her and acknowledged that her daughter had problems but if she is given prizes, she will do better!! Can you imagine a parent does not want his or her child to be responsible? WOW! I was floored! However, I was not surprised by my principal allowing it. She does not want to deal with problems, even if it means undermining the teachers.

When my kids where little I used to make a double batch of cookie dough just so we could end up with one batch of cookies!
You are so right about the memories, I heard my girls talking about the fun they used to have with me (I put aprons on them and the stood on chairs next to the counter to help)

just finished making a batch of home made marshmallows...eggnog flavoured just for Christmas!
Anyone want to join me with a mug of nice hot chocolate?

[QUOTE=Seawaters;310053]I would LOVE some right about now! Will you share the recipe?

Sure, here it is.......

Homemade marshmallows:

  • 3 packages unflavored gelatin
1 cup ice cold water, divided
  • 12 ounces granulated sugar, approximately 1 1/2 cups
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or any flavour you like, experiment!)
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Nonstick spray
Directions

Place the gelatin into the bowl of a stand mixer along with 1/2 cup of the water. Have the whisk attachment standing by.
In a small saucepan combine the remaining 1/2 cup water, granulated sugar, corn syrup and salt. Place over medium high heat, cover and allow to cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Uncover, clip a candy thermometer onto the side of the pan and continue to cook until the mixture reaches 240 degrees F, approximately 7 to 8 minutes. Once the mixture reaches this temperature, immediately remove from the heat.
Turn the mixer on low speed and, while running, slowly pour the sugar syrup down the side of the bowl into the gelatin mixture. Once you have added all of the syrup, increase the speed to high. Continue to whip until the mixture becomes very thick and is lukewarm, approximately 12 to 15 minutes. Add the vanilla during the last minute of whipping. While the mixture is whipping prepare the pans as follows.

Combine the confectioners' sugar and cornstarch in a small bowl. Lightly spray a 13 by 9-inch metal baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Add the sugar and cornstarch mixture and move around to completely coat the bottom and sides of the pan. Return the remaining mixture to the bowl for later use.
When ready, pour the mixture into the prepared pan, using a lightly oiled spatula for spreading evenly into the pan. Dust the top with enough of the remaining sugar and cornstarch mixture to lightly cover. Reserve the rest for later. Allow the marshmallows to sit uncovered for at least 4 hours and up to overnight.(DO NOT REFRIGERATE)
Turn the marshmallows out onto a cutting board and cut into 1-inch squares (or whatever size you want) using a pizza wheel dusted with the confectioners' sugar mixture. Once cut, lightly dust all sides of each marshmallow with the remaining mixture, using additional if necessary. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.

Sorry to hear that! I am sure it was hurtful that it happened to you but you are probably better off without the student in your class. I would assume the relationship with the parent would not get any better.

I knew a parent that constantly had "issues" with ALL teachers no matter what. My child has some of the same teachers that her son had and I didn't seem to have all these problems she mentioned. She eventually transfered schools because she felt everything that went on, in a bad way, was always the schools fault. Well, guess what? Suddenly this new school was full of, in her own words, corrupt teachers.

This parent you speak of might be the same way.

I'm still a congested, and not feeling 100%, but I'm hanging in there! Saving my vacation time for Christmas holidays with the kids. We're going to the mountians!
I hope you get better soon!
Well its Friday! I do not have a full work week until the New Year. I only work Monday and Friday next week. I am excited. Im starting to feel better but now will be going to the dentist this afternoon because of a tooth ache. Ouch they are the worst. It has not been a good week for me! We are suppose to get our real tree tomorrow and Im going to make a Turkey dinner with all of the yummies (since we spend Thanksgiving at my parents and In Laws). I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
I hope your tooth gets to feeling better!
My husband just got a new cell phone 3 weeks ago only to get it stolen yesterday. :( We are so upset. So many pics/videos on there, including old ones of our first baby (on a memory card). What kind of person steals like that? And wouldn't you feel guilty to find out it was a hardworking dad's phone filled with pictures of his precious babies? Oh well, that person has to live with their sins.. not me. My uncle is so kind and offered to buy my husband a new one (it's one of those Droid thingies so it's pretty darn costly - ugh!) Thank goodness for family.
So sorry to hear about that. The phone can be replaced but losing the pictures is awful!

That's nice of your uncle to help out.

I have been a MMC slacker lately! I get a chance to "kinda" check the countdown but struggling to keep up with that.

At least it's good things going on in my life that's keeping me away from the computer. It's the Christmas season!!! I have so many fun things going on and lots of Christmas tv viewing. Then, of course, my usual daily routine to keep up with, grandkids, work and chores.

I am sure I will get back on here full time when the New Year arrives. I hope everyone is enjoying the greatest time of year! :???:

I have always said teachers have one of the most thankless, but important jobs there can be. You impress me as an excellent teacher, one who truly cares about teaching and not just passing a child along without them learning something. I am so sorry you had to put up with the bitter nastiness of this one person and I hope the rest of your school year goes well. Hang in there. Our schools need good teachers and I can tell you are definitely one of them !! xo

Good evening,

I looked ahead on ABCFamily for Sunday, my next day off, and it is all Harry Potter all the time, I was looking forward to watching some Christmasy shows but why would I tune into 25 Days of Christmas for that. I did see on Tuesday the 14th they are going to have Puff the Magic Dragon on, I am hoping it is the one that used to be on when I was a kid, I haven't seen that since the early 80's. I know that one is not Christmasy but it may be good for nostalgia sake.
Have a great night!
