Well it snowed like the dickens here last night , and the powers that be decided it was too cool for school. So alas, another long weekend. I hope everybody stays safe and warm. Hubby is home with me today so that will be nice( I think). I ll be here messing around the house, trying to straighten things up and all of that . I ll check in from time to time. Until then enjoy your morning ! Can we make 2300 today ?

Oh yes we will make it

Snowed again last night with more in the forecast Monday/Tuesday. Looks like we will keep getting exercise parking at the bottom and walking up the mountain. We saw another Coyote which makes the wife nervous about walking up at night. I'm trying to tell her to look at it as an adventure but she's doesn't agree, neither does my son.cheesy

Coyote's around here more scared of us than we of them. Just yell hey around here and they are off and running who knows how far, plum out of sight thats for sure.

Working from home today because of the snow. Keeping an eye out in case an e-mail comes in with work to do.

PLEASE SEND MANY LARGE TRUCKS! Get it out of here! It's been snowing here like we've been posting here!

Only expecting 4 to 8 inches this time ... there may be another storm middle of next week. NO!

Love that one! Saw it when it first came out (showing my age ...) and I have it on DVD.

TCM should be a standard channel! It's one of the few places you can see vintage movies. But even TCM overlooks some classics. They are licensed to show films from Universal's vault, but they haven't even scratched the surface.

And AMC hasn't been about classic films in years. Shame on them.

If I recall correctly, Florence Henderson was in the original Broadway cast of "Oklahoma!" in the 1940s. So it's not too unusual that she'd be singing a Rodgers and Hammerstein show tune!

Florence wasn't in Oklahoma in the forties. She did play Laurey in 'Oklahoma!' sequence that was on TV in 1954. She as well wasn't in the movie Oklahoma that came out in 1956

Good morning, Christmas friends. I hope the beginning of this day finds you all well and safe from coyotes and alligators. It is nippy here in northern California, but because of all the sun we get, there will be no school closing for us, AGAIN! Lots of grading to do. After school, I have to go to Office Depot to get some good pencils. The pencils we get nowadays are a bunch of crap. They break so easily, lead falls out, and some are so hard that they don't sharpen. When we got back to school on January 3, I gave out new pencils. Several broke constantly all day until at the end of the day, they were about 2 inches long! It happens to me, too, so I know it's not just the kids! Okay, enough of a rant! Y'all have a great day.

You know I am glad you said that about pencils I was thinking it was just me. In fact I have gone to just using drafting pencils but those cost to much to just hand out to kids. Even the carpenter pencils break easy why I look for them in garage sales and out of the way lumber yards get some old ones that way. Sure it has to do with the amount of lead in them. Somewhere I am sure they have had to cut back on it so as to not poison someone.

My grandson has some pencils that the eraser doesn't even erase! It just smears what he is erasing all over his paper and makes a big mess. I can't believe it would be that hard to make pencils decent. lol

Oh thank you for this post. Some say around here I complain to much. Like it when I see something I have complained about, that others are having issues with as well. (See David I told you, ya wasn't losing it, and to ignore those people who tell you thatcheesy)

Wow I had friend check at lunch our big Hallmark store here Christmas stuff is all gone. Day late and dollor short should be my new nickname.

Ok I just got a lesson on pencils. Guess I knew this all along just forgot it. Hey sorry drafting school was many moons ago, in fact to many.
There is no lead in pencils so I stand corrected on that. Today’s pencils contain graphite and clay mixture. The amount of clay decides how hard the pencil will be. I see that I as well as many are maybe buying the wrong pencils. I looked at the pencils I have been getting and they are a grade HB. Thus, a #2 or HB pencil from one brand will not necessarily leave the same mark as a #2 or HB pencil from another brand. Most pencil manufacturers set their own internal standards for graphite hardness grades and overall quality of the core, some differences are regional. In Japan, consumers tend to prefer softer darker leads; so an HB lead produced in Japan is generally softer and darker than an HB from European producers.
A pencil marked "HB" is hard and black; a pencil marked "HH" is very hard, and a pencil marked "HHBBB" is very hard and really, really black! Although today most pencils using the HB system are designated by a number such as 2B, 4B or 2H to indicate the degree of hardness. For example, a 4B would be softer than a 2B and a 3H harder than an H.
Finding what works best for your own artistic and writing needs is generally a matter of personal preference and experimentation with different brands of pencils.
Hope this maybe helps everyone.

WooHoo we are up to 7 degrees here in central Indy!!!!!!!!!

Try to find a smaller Hallmark store. The store I went to is small and in a little shopping center so it gets traffic but not as much as the bigger stores. There is a ALOT bigger Hallmark store 10 minutes from the one I shopped at and the bigger one always sells out of the Christmas stuff quick.

I feel like I have been put through the ringer tonight, they run me around like a madman at work, my legs and back are killing me.

I hope you feel better today!!!!!!

LOL funny you say that I have been on the phone calling around. Really is a huge interest in this area for the Hallmark stuff. Do ya maybe think it's because they are located here? No really that is the reason why stuff is hot items in this area. I know my stepmom had a huge collection of Hallmark stuff.

You can bet Jerry Jones had something to do with that.

I can guarantee there isn't going to be alot of people that are going to pay $200 dollars to stand out in the cold here next year to watch it on tv.
