What is Valentine's Day anymore? It's another holiday where if you study the history about it the true meaning of it is as tainted in ways as the true meaning of Christmas seems to be getting.
But really it's not even a true holiday just a day set aside where we are suppose to show love some seem to think. Does it mean that the other 364 days we have an excuse to not show love?
Saint Valentine's Day was a day that really was a religious observance for celebrating love and affection between intimate companions.
I show and give love to those around me all year long. Valentine's Day to me was the day when those around me had to sort of take a backseat for my attention because that day I was focused on my wife. We always made it our day for sure with no exceptions. No meetings quilt crafting, fishing with the boys, shopping with the girls, or playing in the workshop. We would plan what our day was to be together and that is how it was. We had a great life together the rest of the year as well. And we shared that life with those around us and as we went along in this thing we call life. But we always made sure we had that one day just for us and us alone.
Love those around you at all times and show them so each and every day. On any day other than Valentine's Day ponder ways to say thank you or "I Love You" as well.

I added 2 new signatures to the one that Auntie had already made for me. She made me the first signature, Caninemom gave me the one with chihuahuas and Blue Christmas gave me the Runner Girl in my birthday greeting thread. I love the signatures, thanks!
I am planning on running in the St. Paddy's Day 5k race. I am not competing against anyone else out there, only competing against myself. Like I said before I might end up in last place but I can at least say, "I did it"! My brother who is training for a half marathon (13 miles) confirmed he will run along side me for moral support. I know I mentioned all this before but I just talked to my brother Saturday and he said he can make that race. Now let's just hope the weather holds up and nothing gets in the way! That Runner Girl avatar should help keep me motivated. cheesy

That movie is what put the fear of sharks in me. I remember standing in a LONG line at a theater, almost around a city block in San Francisco, with my friends just to see Jaws, and it ended my swimming in water that wasn't chlorinated. cheesy

Good morning, Christmas friends. Here in northern California, we woke up to.......drum roll, please! Rain. Ho hum! It's supposed to rain all week. Why is our weather man always right about the rain, and some of yours have been a little off about the snow? Send me your weather man and I will send you ours!!!

TRUE LOVE
An elderly gent was invited to an old friend's home for dinner one evening. He was
impressed by the way his buddy preceded every request to his wife with endearing
terms such as: Darling, Honey, My Love, Pumpkin, Sweetheart, etc.
The couple had been married almost 70 years and, clearly, they were still very much
in love. While the wife was in the kitchen, the man leaned over to his host, and said: "I
think it's wonderful that, after all these years, you still call your wife those loving pet names."
The old man hung his head. "I have to tell you the truth," he said. "Her name slipped my mind about 10 years ago, and I'm scared to death to ask her what it is."

We vacationed near you last summer at Tybee island and friends of ours caught a hammerhead and a sand shark fishing off the beach at night. Both were almost 2 feet long. They caught several sand sharks that were 6 - 9 inches. I certainly wouldn't go ocean swimming at night...

Wayne and I were watching a documentary on Dale Sr. prior to the Daytona race in 2001. It's been 10 years and still stirs up emotions to losing him. I am a Jeff Gordon fan but really loved watching Dale and his die hard fans. I am glad I did get to see him race before he died and got photos of him. We were also at the race the year he died and held our hands waving 3 fingers on the third lap. It was quite emotional. Wayne had the pleasure to meet Dale Sr. in person.
I remember watching that race as if it was yesterday. I think what is so heart wrenching is to see how Michael Waltrip and Dale Jr. finish 1st and 2nd and waiting for Dale Sr. to come celebrate with them. Gets me every time I see that.
I know you NASCAR fans understand and even if you are not a NASCAR fan it's still so very sad to see. =(
