This is so off topic, but being the weather geek I am, I just turned on my weather scanner, and we are under a tornado watch and there is a 80 percent chance of rain today...just last night the last time I checked it was a 10 percent chance of rain the whole weekend..i have not seen rain here in so long I am excited..and yes this perhaps makes me the most pathetic person on the face of the earth.lol have a great afternoon everyone!
There was a quick tornado touch-down here in Statesboro yesterday. It destroyed a house, but no one was hurt, thank the Lord! There was a lot of hail, too. Glad we missed that here in Bellville!

t was a beautiful day today in my hometown.....the sun was out all day. Kandice was a good gal and I spend lots of time with her and my moms......and we had a real good Sunday Dinner..........we went to Burger King

Today, we woke up at 6am and went to MegaCon, a huge comics/semi-sci fi convention in Orlando. For someone like me who really isn't into comics all that much, and only went to see William Shatner and a handful of cast members from Star Trek: The Next Generation, I was a little out of my league. But it was still a lot of fun, I have great photos, and I also bought a navy blue wig. Why? I'm still not sure, but maybe I can make a Halloween costume around it! LOL
Capt. Kirk was there?!? OH.My.Goodness!

I'm the biggest Trek fan in the world (with the exception of DS9), and I would have loved to have been there! We're thinking of taking the kids to Orlando in a couple weeks during their spring break. Too bad the Con wasn't scheduled for that week!

Lucky you!cheesy

I am sure Bradmac will read this with great envy! He LOVES Star Trek! Even though I am not a fan of Star Trek, I really like William Shatner. He is so funny and he sure does look great for being 80 years old! I am shocked he is really 80!
Why wan't it me?!?! Why, oh why, oh why?!?

Just kidding! Lucky you, VSU!cheesy

The first IRL race of the year and then a Nascar Race from California. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

He has been here in Stratford a few times, used to be an actor at the theater. Recently he was at one of the local high schools

"The Canadian premiere of William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet kicked off DocFest's Opening Night on October 22, 2010 at the Stratford Festival’s Avon Theatre. . Earlier that day, Mr. Shatner spoke at Stratford Central Secondary School" (I attended this high school)

I see famous actors all the time around town. Once I met up with Paul Gross in the grocery store and my girls met Sheila McCarthy. Got to sit in on the filming of Caesar and Cleopatra and were right next to Christopher Plummer.
Justin Bieber is from here too, my daughter baby sat him once.

OMG I love Star Trek too, although I have to be honest and say I'm really only into TNG and early Voyager (before they turned Janeway into a feminist and killed any romantic twinges between her and Chakotay...). I am a HUGE William Shatner fan though (LOVED him in Boston Legal!), but they were charging $500 to even get a picture with him! So...yeah, no chance of me even sighting him randomly...I was just happy to be breathing the same air as him in the convention center! ^_^

I did get glimpses of Jonathan Frakes and Michael Dorn though...it was surreal! My best friend commented on how old they looked...I think sometimes she forgets that the show went off the air nearly 20 years ago and they're not going to look the same! lol It was a fantastic time, though!

Well, we are off in a few minutes for another dinner after an installation of officers at the Elks Lodge. I hope everyone has a great evening! I used to watch Star Trek, TO (the original!!!) I guess that definitely dates me!

Good afternoon/early evening, Christmas friends!

Today has been very low-key...I woke up with a migraine that still isn't really over yet, so we've all been just kinda chillin' around the house. We are about ready to go for dinner and see a roller derby (my first!), so I'm pretty excited :)

I must say, the NCAA tournament is killing me this year! With Kansas now out, no one in my pool has the winner picked, but I still have no chance of winning since another guy picked more games right than me in the earlier rounds. I should still come in second or third, I think...but that still means no cash prize. Oh well. I'm rooting like crazy for Kentucky to beat UNC (sorry Tarheels fans, I mean no offense to you personally!), and from there...it doesn't really matter to me who goes to the final. I would love to see VCU there (just so the sportscasters who were so nasty to them, saying they didn't belong in the tourney, can eat their words) against UConn.

And just to add my two cents in on the stuff about American Idol (I'm not sure how this thread started, haven't yet had time to go back and read, but it seems someone bashed someone else's love of Lambert?)...I loved Adam Lambert at first on his season, but as the season went on, I loved Kris Allen more and really rooted for him at the end. I don't understand people's hate and stuff though...while I get passionate about everything from tv shows to sports to shopping, I will never bash someone else's opinion. Everyone is allowed their own thoughts, and that's what makes us different. If we all thought the same way, we'd be a boring bunch of people! Plus it makes for great debating, which is something I love. =) As for this year's AI, this is really the first year that I don't have an overwhelming favorite coming into the top 10 show. While I do like some of the contestants (Pia, James, Paul a little bit), I don't really have an overwhelming favorite. And I also don't dislike anyone a lot, which is weird for me. They're all very good, I think.

Okay, time for me to start getting ready. Have a good night, everyone!

The fuss about Lambert was simply because people don't like different. Personally, I didn't like his style of music. Nothing against him. Funny thing is...I like James and they sound the same. James, to me, is more rock whereas Adam was pop.

Hello everyone!

I'm sorry for my absence over the last few days...I am now in Florida with my best friend and her fiance, and I've been so on-the-go that I haven't been able to sit down and visit the forum since Thursday! I actually haven't been able to read through the last bunch of pages since my last post, so if anything super important happened, please let me know!! :)

My flight on Friday was good...no turbulence or anything, and the people I sat next to were great! Always makes flights go better if you like the people you sit near! I only got a few hours sleep (less than 5) last night, since it took us over two hours to get to their place from the airport.

I am literally about to pass out now, so I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and I'll hopefully be back a few times this week just to check in! =)

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

holla

today is voting day in my state and a neighbouring state ....so of course I´m going to go voting.......what sucks....tonight we lost an hour of the day, because the time has been set one hour to the front as summertime again....yesterday it ways 9am at the time...now it´s 10am how annoying :D

We did the time change thing a few weeks ago, it throws off my boys sleeping schedule it is still light out when they go to bed.

Good morning everyone!
MerryCarey-I know! this winter was one of a kind for the Northeast I am sure you all will never forget it!
CM3 and CAH and xmas 365-thanks alot! I enjoyed going even if at the end I got sick and had to come home early...I got to see snow 2 times this winter! Can't wait for the next one too!
Where I want to move in a few years in West Virginia got half a foot of snow last night! we in south Ga did not even get any rain yesterday,at the last minute they said it was 80 percent chance, but as usual it all went north of us. Today it is cloudy and humid and still have an 80 percent chance of severe thunderstorms. We will see..have a good day everyone!

The scary thing is we had nearly 4 ft of snow on the ground at one time, and all the snow came within 3 weeks starting Dec. 26. One crazy winter thank God it is over.

Good morning, friends! Hope this finds everyone enjoying their weekend and slowly crawling out of their nice, cozy beds to a warm pot of coffee.....and no tea!

Yesterday was a very productive day. I went through all the closets and cleaned them and then cleaned out the room that had alot of boxes that had yet to be unpacked from our move around Thanksgiving. We didn't deal with it after that because of Christmas so I finally got it all done yesterday. It is with great pride that I say the following.....

We are officially completely moved into our new house!

Today will be spent watching the race and basketball games. Seeing as how it is 38 outside, I will not be outside today. Plan on staying in the house with my house-shoes on!

See ya around today!

Oh...Laney...welcome back!

Congrats on being completely moved in it is a great feeling when that last box is done.

I hear you on this one, CAH. I was a member of a teacher group where teachers would ask for advice and some on the group were downright nasty ALL THE TIME bashing both those who asked for advice and those who gave it. I finally quit goint there when I posted a recipe for fried Twinkies (the truth) and one of the teachers fired back with one of the nastiest messages on the board about how I was trying to kill students with crap and trying to make them fat. Definitely not the place for me!

This is one of only 2 forums I post on, (the other another Christmas one) but I read quite a few on sports and the people are ruthless to each other, not for me. The other Christmas forum I joined the same week as this one and I only have 20 something posts total because no other site is as great as this one.

Good afternoon everyone! we are under severe thunderstorm warning until 3..and right now it's thundering and lightening! I love the spring/summer downpours it smells so good an refreshing after it rains. Yankee Candle makes a scent called summer thunderstorm I need to go order some of those from the website! Just wish they were not 25 bucks!

I love Yankee Candle, especially Macintosh, we live 40 minutes from the headquarters and as they call it "The world's greatest Christmas store" it is great but I have never been to Bronner's I think that one maybe better. The son of the man who started Yankee Candle started his own company called Kringle Candle Company I haven't seen the candles yet but have heard they are good.
